Avatar m tn If you take to much of it you get a seizure if you stop taking it abruptly you can get a seizure. Thank you for your time, God Bless.
Avatar n tn Infections and fever can make an otherwise healthy individual more prone to have a seizure. a single episode of seizure cannot be marked as epilepsy. An EEG to ensure that there are no structural abnormalities in brain. Normal EEG and MRI brain are encouraging though this does not rule out a future episode. You need to consult a physician for investigating any underlying infectious condition, high or low blood sugar, injury, electrolyte imbalance, drug withdrawal syndrome etc.

963651 tn?1247528914 Rarely, non-epileptic seizures can occur in relation to syncope due to severe oxygen deprivation to the brain. It is possible that this might be what you are experiencing. This describes a few cases of anoxic seizures, though it doesn't specifically get into cases of people who have chronic neurocardiogenic syncope rather than syncope that is, for example, triggered purely by aversive stimuli like the sight of blood: http://www.john-libbey-eurotext.
Avatar n tn Can you describe some more details regarding the seizure activity to know better? Sleep deprivation can be one of the triggers for seizure activity. It need not always happen at night. You may consult a neurologist for complete check up and investigations including a sleep study. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar f tn It sounds like a possible seizure. They can manifest in many different ways and it's not uncommon to see that head tilting behavior. It's also typical to that they need to sleep quite a while after having a seizure. Since he's had two episodes that you know of, it's definitely time to see your vet. Try not to panic. I know seeing a seizure of any kind is extremely scary, but epilepsy in dogs can usually be well-managed with medications.
Avatar f tn He was placed on Keppra 500mg orally twice a day for seizure precautions due to the fall. He has been on the medication for approximately three weeks. He is tired, blah, and feels short of breath. I know it will take time to heal but do you know how long he should have to be on the medication and/or how long he will feel this way? I'm not sure how much activity to encourage. If you have any information or advice to ask the neurologist, I would greatly appreciate it!!
Avatar n tn It would depend on the cause of the seizures. Also some medications can lower the seizure threshold including many antipsychotics but only a doctor or psychiatrist would understand this in full. It would be worthwhile to discuss these concerns with them and what the appropriate means of follow up would be.

580983 tn?1219772222 The definition of "Infertile" is a couple's inability to conceive after 12mos of timed intercourse. (6mos if over 35) Yes, you definitely fit the description. Have you seen an RE?
1580703 tn?1651904887 Prednisolone can also aggravate pre-existing seizure disorder. Certain precautions that your physician would be taking care of are, using the lowest possible dose, for the shortest time, alternate day dosing can be followed if possible, and gradual withdrawal to limit the adrenal suppression. Usually a treatment for more than 3 weeks is taken as long term. I cannot advise the dose, which can cause neurological symptoms and side effects. Consult your physician for the needful in your case.
Avatar f tn If it is confirmed that your events are due to seizures, you would need to be started on seizure medications (anti-epileptic drugs). It is important to assume seizure precautions as well, such as not driving or being in situations in which you could injure yourself or others if you had a seizure, such as standing on a height or swimming unsupervised. Thank you for using the forum, I hope you find this information useful, good luck.
Avatar n tn I am confused by something I read on a medical inpatient report. There were many of the words that I did not understand what they meant so I looked them up. The one that I have just looked up is"paroxysmal" What I have found is that it is an event that is not really a seizure and comes from having pain. This was mentioned having a VEEG when I remember not having a complaint of pain. This confuses me from the report of a VEEG I had done.
Avatar n tn my 5 year old boy is taking topomax 5 mg since last 2 and a half years as a treatment for seizure ,his body temperature is most of the time found to be above normal....

Could this apply to lithium as well, i.e.
Avatar f tn The change in air pressure after an injury like you have can lead to a seizure, no thanks, right? Has it only been two weeks? I do think those with head injuries need to take special precautions but not indefinitely. Does he totally evade the question as to when you'll be okay for air travel? And again, I'd look into other means of transportation.
Avatar n tn If they arent too many side affects, then stay on it. I have JME, and I take Keppra. I've been on Keppra for almost 5 years now. Started at 23, and I'm 28 now. I had one grand mal seizure and that was the worst month of my life. Not knowing your parents, you can move, and the headaches... if he's seizure free, keep the meds! Nothing is worse than having a seizure. And you cant drive after that. I say stay on it. Keppra has done very well for me...

Avatar f tn I have a history of a nocturnal seizure over 30 years ago, have been on dilantin and phenobarbitol since. No seizures since until some sort of incident 6 months ago. Many tests later and adjustments of meds find me feeling well. I think I may have had a TIA witnessed by someone in the family. I have no recall and it lasted 30 seconds. I am on Plavix but was off it for 2 weeks because of a needle biopsy of thyroid for nodules.
Avatar m tn Under certain circumstances this can precipitate an actual epileptic seizure. Or a medical condition somewhat short of a complete seizure. The same thing can happen from the flickering of sun through an aircraft propeller blade. Certain animations and CRT configurations exacerbate this phenomena. The "flicker" affects the brain. How exactly a seizure is induce is not clear. This medical problem has been well-documented and researched.
