Avatar n tn I'm not sure if there is a way to fix this. I have been to doctors multiple times about my breathing. They told me it is partially because of anxiety and partially because of really bad nasal drip that causes an infection in my lungs while I sleep. All they prescribed me was a Salbutamol puffer but it doesn't really help at all. I guess it is just something that I have to live with. You should tell your doc that you don't want to rely on meds.
Avatar m tn Last night I ate no food after 5pm that I could react to and around 9 pm I used the blue puffer (Ventolin Salbutamol Sulpate Inhalation Aerosol) and and what was left of my red puffer (Fovent flutisacone propionate - corticosteroid) - AND I immediately broke out in hives and itching everywhere including on my tongue and I had trouble swollowing. I took an anti-histamine and the hives lasted about 90 minutes.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I am a 21 year old male living in Toronto, Ontario and do not smoke. I have severe allergies to most trees. For the past 6 years I have developed a chronic dry cough in the fall season until it snows in the winter. When I blow my nose, there is a sticky white mucus that comes out. I have been told by the allergist that this is asthma and allergies. I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning.
Avatar n tn He went to the doctor who arranged an x-ray and diagnosed asthma. He was given a blue and brown puffer to use. His cough didn’t improve and so eventually he stopped taking these. He continued having the cough and in 2014 we paid for a CT scan, just to check things were ok. We were worried about asbestos as we know he has worked in buildings containing it. The CT scan showed up some scars, granulomas and a raised left hemi diaphragm.

Avatar f tn I have heard salbutamol on it's own can make your asthma worse so if your asthma gets worse then you should up the longer lasting Corticosteroid. If you need the faster acting inhaler then take it but the Corticosteroid should be increased. Tree Pollen is coming out in the UK so my dose of Corticosteroid has increased as my breathing gets a bit more laboured.
Avatar f tn I have been given a Salbutamol CFC Puffer and thats it, I dont feel like anything has changed after all the running around as I havent needed the puffer yet and I have had it nearly a week, I just feel like I still dont know whats really wrong with me, and I am now coughing with phlyem coming up, but I have to admit I swallow as I can not stand the thought of spiting it out. I am 47 and female.
Avatar f tn I was born with eczema and I started to have bronchospasm few years ago. The doc said it might be asthma and prescribed me with salbutamol. However, i found that I don't have the common syptoms as asthmatic people .e.g wheezing or coughing, and it doesn't disturb my sleeping as well. I just feel the bronchi contract and chest tightness which go away after few minutes later without taking the inhaler. I've taken the inhaler before but i found it no use, so i didn't use it anymore.
Avatar m tn Possible treatments are glyceryl trinitrate spray or under-the-tongue tablets (as used for angina), glyceryl trinitrate cream applied to the anal area, or the asthma drug salbutamol (inhaled from a puffer at the start of the attack). These treatments are only available on prescription, for which you would need to see your doctor. Husband of wife with same.

Avatar n tn A person can lead a perfectly normal life with asthma and it will not damage your lungs in a permanent way. The puffer will help you to breathe easier and is not at all addictive. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Took advair puffer for a cold last night, prescribed by my doctor for wheezing in my chest. I have had an annoying cough for about a month. I'm 37 and relatively healthy. After taking the puffer last night and this morning, I seem to have lost most of my sense of taste and smell. Is this normal? Should I stop taking the puffer?

The weird part about it is the phlegm is like strands of crystal clear gel or balls. Then as I start to get my breathing back it's almost turns to a thin liquid I cough up .After about an hour I can breath fine again and I may only take my puffer once again the whole day. Any ideas?

Avatar f tn 7 to 8 weeks along, I have had an awful cough that keeps me up at night, takes my breath away and leaves me almost choking. I was given a puffer by the Doctor at the Clinic who did the pregnancy test. But he did not tell me to even get prenatul vitamins, so I'm not sure if I should even be on this puffer, it is also not working, are there any other remedies? Also is it safe to sleep on your side or stomach while I'm this far along?
Avatar m tn This can cause bloating of stomach and consequent breathlessness. Check with your doctor for adequate control of asthma. Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
