Avatar n tn I have been splitting up lite green phlegm for the last two months. I was told by a non medical friend to not use any over the counter drugs because this might supress the secretions that need to come out naturally? Could he have a valid point of view and what do you recommend? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/284515'>Uncontrollable Phlegm</a>.
1114793 tn?1258730647 He also got bronchitis in February of 2010 (not long after the pneumonia) and was prescribed to use a Salbutamol inhaler until the bronchitis cleared up (which it did). The doctor ordered a pulmonary function test after his second bout of pneumonia this year and when my husband saw his doctor again, his doctor told him that he had COPD (and never offered any treatment). He only smoked for about 7 years (age 20-27) and since then quit smoking.
Avatar f tn Hi, Salbutamol is contrindicated in asthma. It is a long acting beta2 agonist that can be dangerous for asthmatics to take without an inhaled steroid. Also, they take too long to be effective which makes them useless as a resuce inhaler as you have been trying to use it. I would recommend that you request further testing from you doctor. The methylcoline (sp?) challenge is the standard and definitive test for asthma. You are give puffs a methylcoline to try to induce an asthma attack.
Avatar m tn This is the worst part of my emphysema. As soon as I wake I have to use my inhaler (Airomir, Salbutamol) I have tried sleeping sitting up, but as I go off I get a chocking sensation, Has any one solved this problem?
Avatar n tn I have had Bronchitis for about 3 weeks now. I just went to the doctor, most likely viral bronchitis and he gave me an expectorant, and an inhaler (Salbutamol). The problem is that I am suposed to fly to South Africa on Monday and compete in a 3 day mountain bike race starting wednesday. The days will be very demanding and I am worried how my lungs will perform, moreover are there any possible short and long term effects. I feel totally fine.

Avatar f tn I took her to the doctor who prescribed her Salbutamol cough syrup 3.5 mg 3 times a day saying that she has wheezing. Is it safe? It is not releiving the cough at all, already tried for one and half day. It is about the same.
Avatar f tn so i visited my doctor again and by that time i was already sick for a month. she told me to have xray cause she was suspecting pneumonia. so i took an xray and the results went back normal. so she told me to continue using my inhaler and nebulizer and she extended my montelukast treatment. so i did what she told me i kinda felt better i guess it's because of the xray result so i don't really notice how tired my body and my mind and my breathing was becoming.
Avatar m tn This can cause bloating of stomach and consequent breathlessness. Check with your doctor for adequate control of asthma. Ventolin or salbutamol is a rescue inhaler, that means you take this when you have an episode of Asthma. There are reliever inhalers which work for up to 12 hours after taking each dose. They include salmeterol (brand name Serevent) and formoterol (brand name Atimos). Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
880900 tn?1467270141 I have had deep veinal thrombosis, a couple of TIAs, and severe rheumatoid arthritis (for 24 years). Two years ago, my GP prescribed a salbutamol inhaler. I would maybe need a squirt of salbutamol twice a week, then, but I am now needing to use it about three or four times a day. Could you tell me whether the dyspnea is heart or pulmonary system related, or has it to do with the RA? How should it be treated? Thanks so much for your help!
Avatar m tn The result was non reactive. I inhale sometimes salbutamol because I have asthma. Do you think it can alter the result of the test?
Avatar f tn I had stridor 7 hours ago and rushed to hospital as I cannot have salbutamol. I had adrenaline IM and also nebulised. 7 Hours later my heart rate is still sitting at 120 at rest and I have tingling in my fingers and hands, waves on pain in my left chest (that I had at hospital nothing showed on ecg), and short of breath. Should I be worried????

Avatar n tn Hi, my GP has changed my meds today from seravent, becotide and salbutamol to Symbicort turbohaler. I have never used a turbohaler before and am finding it really hard to "suck" the drug into me! I have read the instructions and followed them to the letter but it just seems really difficult to suck through. Is this normal? or could the turbohaler be faulty? Also does it matter if i hear 2 clicks when loading? Please help as really need it to work!
Avatar n tn Flovent inhaler contains steroids and is given to prevent an attack of asthma. Ventolin inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a type of medicine known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This is given when a person actually has an attack of Asthma, and is referred to as an ‘escape inhaler’. It would be good to have it with you, handy to use it when you need it. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
Avatar f tn She said it was a nasal drip and possibly a chest infection and gave me a spray for the nose and and antibiotics, I took them for the time stated but nothing changed, and I went back, I then got sent for a chest x-ray again nothing showed so she was concerned that I may have sarcoidosis and sent me to see a Rheumatologist, who then sent me for blood test, urine test, ct scan with dye and a lung function test, I was told I had Mild Bullious Emphysema and Asthma.
