I am female and age 52. 15 years ago I had ARDS after acute pancreatitis and almost died. I had a recent chest Xray and was told I have Costal Chrondritis, explaining my side back and chest pain. However the radiologist also stated "stable scattered post inflammatory residuals" in lung. This is the very first time since my ARDS that anyone has noticed anything, stable or not, in my lungs. Do you think I need to be concerned about it?
I was born with eczema and I started to have bronchospasm few years ago. The doc said it might be asthma and prescribed me with salbutamol. However, i found that I don't have the common syptoms as asthmatic people .e.g wheezing or coughing, and it doesn't disturb my sleeping as well. I just feel the bronchi contract and chest tightness which go away after few minutes later without taking the inhaler. I've taken the inhaler before but i found it no use, so i didn't use it anymore.
Yes, it is possible to develop permanent lung damage after a bout of Sepsis, especially sepsis that was accompanied by a condition called the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome or ARDS. There is an extensive medical literature on the sequelae of ARDS, not necessarily limited to the lungs.

I am 19 wks pregnant and suffer from terrible allergies this time of yr and have to use salbutamol 100micrograms inhaler. I use it up to 3 times a day. My midwife is uncertain if I can use this while pregnant and I have read up on possible effects to the baby and I am terrified. Has anyone used this while pregnant??
The next day she was a little agitated and the Dr. said that she might have ARDS. Within a few days of guessing, she laid at a 35' angle when they figured out she was misdiagnosed and had Pulmonary Edema. ? Until I did some research...ARDS is the same thing as PE... She had 3.1ml of fluid in her lungs and the next few days now its between the lungs? Well that's plural effusion...and to me that sounds like they took to long and basically drowned her to the point it has now hit her heart.
My diagnosis was pylonephritis, ARDS and sepsis. Over a month later I am still having a slight flank pain in my right kidney area (opposite one from last time) also I vomited blood the other night. Is there a chance of a returning kidney infection or pylonephritis? (sorry for the misspelling) Also I have no energy anymore and I am emotional unstable, pushing everyone away.

I am a 21 year old male living in Toronto, Ontario and do not smoke. I have severe allergies to most trees. For the past 6 years I have developed a chronic dry cough in the fall season until it snows in the winter. When I blow my nose, there is a sticky white mucus that comes out. I have been told by the allergist that this is asthma and allergies. I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning.
I took her to the doctor who prescribed her Salbutamol cough syrup 3.5 mg 3 times a day saying that she has wheezing. Is it safe? It is not releiving the cough at all, already tried for one and half day. It is about the same.

She contracted the swine flu in the hospital and is now in ICU fighting for her life. She has ARDS, which results in death with 50% of swine flu patients despite being in ICU and receiving critical care. Now she has a child that may lose her mother. It breaks my heart but has definitely opened my eyes. I am getting my shot on Wednesday. i know its a difficult and personal decision i just wanted to share my situation in case it helps anyone else.
I had stridor 7 hours ago and rushed to hospital as I cannot have salbutamol. I had adrenaline IM and also nebulised. 7 Hours later my heart rate is still sitting at 120 at rest and I have tingling in my fingers and hands, waves on pain in my left chest (that I had at hospital nothing showed on ecg), and short of breath. Should I be worried????
The result was non reactive. I inhale sometimes salbutamol because I have asthma. Do you think it can alter the result of the test?
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome? Or did you mean Acute Retroviral Syndrome (ARS)? Anyway, whatever ARDS is supposed to mean in your post is irrelevant to your situation since you used a condom.
Flovent inhaler contains steroids and is given to prevent an attack of asthma. Ventolin inhalers contain the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a type of medicine known as a short-acting beta 2 agonist. This is given when a person actually has an attack of Asthma, and is referred to as an ‘escape inhaler’. It would be good to have it with you, handy to use it when you need it.
