Common Questions and Answers about Salbutamol and theophylline

Avatar n tn t want to do inhaled steroids, and your asthma is mild enough, then you should consider Singulair. Theophylline is used when inhaled steroids is not enough and the physician wants to avoid prescribing oral steroids (ex. Prednisone), which has terrible side effects over the long term. I can understand your doctor's hesitancy to prescribe this particular drug to you, when there are many better alternatives.
312330 tn?1245176752 I use xopenex as my rescue med...and right now do Qvar and Foradil for my maintenance meds right now...but obviously am not under control.
Avatar m tn Yes, they X-ray'd his entire body. And he was prescribed the T Suspension. Did it help your dog immediately? Maybe we didn't keep him on it long enough. He's been on the following. thanks!
Avatar f tn s currently taking about as much medication as my elderly parent including enalapril, vetmedin, spironolactone, hydrocodone (to control the bad coughing that caused her to produce seizure like symptoms and eventually faint several times) and theophylline as a bronchodialator.
Avatar f tn I was born with eczema and I started to have bronchospasm few years ago. The doc said it might be asthma and prescribed me with salbutamol. However, i found that I don't have the common syptoms as asthmatic people .e.g wheezing or coughing, and it doesn't disturb my sleeping as well. I just feel the bronchi contract and chest tightness which go away after few minutes later without taking the inhaler. I've taken the inhaler before but i found it no use, so i didn't use it anymore.
Avatar f tn manifesting as confusion, seizures, muscle twitches and cardiac arrhythmias. Salbutamol is a non selective beta agonist and can cause tremors and twitches. Chronic use of corticosteroids can cause myopathy and twitches. Consult your treating physician for assessing these symptoms since now you are off the medicines. Rule out dehydration and overuse of caffeine. Take care.
Avatar n tn Ask him/her if you should also take pills to help you breathe, either SINGULAiRor something similar once in 24hr, and the inhaler. You should also have a rescue inhaler such as ALBUTEROL and use that only in emergency. I have posted a large post re: asthma and all, please read them, hope it will help you. Again do not overuse your inhalers. Keep an air cleaning machine in your home to filter out 99% of all polutants, you can get one for about $60.00 at K-mart or Sears. They help.
Avatar m tn I've heard that theophylline can help sleep apnea and asthma and is related chemically to coffee. I'm also interested in trying xolair but read that it can increase risk of cancer.
Avatar f tn hi are you from the u.k? i would suggest phoning nhs direct on 08454647 they will be able to give you advise on your query.hpe that helps.
1344892 tn?1276541735 i am 29 years old and have asthma for which i take 100 mg of qvar 2puffs twice daily. for the last 4 days my heart is beating very very fast, it will not slow down, it is waking me up from my sleep and is really getting me down. i went to a&e and had a chest x-ray, and it was fine. then i had an ecg and that came back fine apart from my high heart race. my blood pressure was high but then was taken again immediately after and was deemed o.k.
Avatar n tn I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning. During bouts of coughing, I have tried taking my ratio-salbutamol puffer but it doesn't seem to help. Over the years I have tried a variety of puffers to no avail. Since we are now at the end of November it seems as if most of my allergic triggers are gone, so it seems to rule out an allergic cause.
Avatar m tn can i give salbutamol in 1st trimister thretened abortion?
Avatar f tn I would like to ask if the ipratropium inhaler is available with the combination of salbutamol and what brand?
Avatar n tn Even in the absence of Asthma, an oral bronchodilator like Theophylline is sometimes prescribed to stimulate respiration. Theophylline can also be used as a somewhat mild vasoconstrictor, (similar in strength to the vasoconstricting ability of Ritalin in my experience).
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
1580703 tn?1651904887 acetazolamide and theophylline seem to be more last resort medicines since they have these serious side effects like heart problems I'm trying temazepam or restoril now and it seems to be working- zolpidem is ok at helping me fall asleep but it seems less effective
Avatar f tn I am 19 wks pregnant and suffer from terrible allergies this time of yr and have to use salbutamol 100micrograms inhaler. I use it up to 3 times a day. My midwife is uncertain if I can use this while pregnant and I have read up on possible effects to the baby and I am terrified. Has anyone used this while pregnant??
Avatar m tn bronchodilators and caffeine in tea are both stimulants and cause a rise in heart rate - when you combine them you may get even more of a response (called syngery) then you would see from either of them alone. You could try drinking herbal teas that are caffeine free and this help stop that affect.
Avatar n tn All of the medications, except for theophylline and itraconazole, are known to be substrates of CYP3A. When given with grapefruit juice in pharmacokinetic studies their availability increases. In most cases, the clinical consequence of the pharmacokinetic interaction has not been evaluated. However, for midazolam and triazolam, as well as for buspirone, impairment of CNS function was observed, and for the calcium channel blocker felodipine greater blood pressure lowering has been observed.
