Avatar f tn can adults get RSV and how old are u when u stop being able to get it
Avatar f tn Did they test her for RSV? It is uncommon in adults for the most part and they don't do much about it other than wait it out and treat the symptoms, such as benadryl, etc... It could also be severe allergies to the change in weather. Does she respond at all to medicines such as Claritin? Hope they are feeling better soon.
1346146 tn?1299360497 Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!
Avatar f tn my baby has RSV. I felt sick a little before we found out she had it and then a cople days later I got a cold do you think that could be it? and thank you.
Avatar n tn I copied this form a web site Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common viral disease of the lungs. It usually manifest itself as a cold in adults and older children, but can cause serious problems in infants. RSV can cause lower respitory infections, breathing problems, pneumonia or even death. According to statistics, over 125,000 infants are hospitalized annually with Respiratory Syncytial Virus, resulting in more than 500 deaths.
Avatar n tn He was okay to come home then he was 5 weeks old and got really ill with the RSV and was in the hospital and then heart failure then the surgery then infection and more illness. he does have pulmomary issues partly because my hubby has asthma and the ithers they are saying is from bing on a ventilator at such a young age. Please make sure he gets the synagisis shot.(it helps lesson the rsv in a child with a heart issue and premature babies.
Avatar n tn Bronchiolitis is usually caused by a viral infection, most commonly respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV infections are responsible for more than half of all cases of bronchiolitis and are most widespread in the winter and early spring. ___________ It sounds like the relationship of bronchiolitis and asthma is still being studied. In the meantime, I would work to ease the other factors, such as exposure to second-hand cigarette smoke, that he might be exposed to. Good luck!
Avatar m tn HCV, HBV, RSV, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Updates on all four wholly-owned programs will be presented on Wednesday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. PT at the 34th Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco. “Our successful HCV collaboration, our drug discovery expertise and our experience in virology resulted in our first marketed product with AbbVie, paritaprevir, which is part of the VIEKIRA PAK® combination HCV therapy,” commented Jay R. Avatar f tn She was my first born baby, she weighed 9lbs 6 1/2oz, and although I had to have a C-section due to my genetic bone disease, she was delivered only 4 days before my due date, on March 19, 1999, so she was full term. To make this long story as short as I can, we hired a state certified babysitter to watch her during the day while we worked. On April 4th of 2000 we went to pick her up and the babysitter left the room to go get her from a back bedroom.
765043 tn?1234583003 My son is 2 months. He has RSV. On top of that hehas pnemonia and Broncialitis. I am concerned. He has been on life support for a week exactly today. They have him on antibiotics for infection for phnemonia. ANd they say the rsv has to run it's course. But of course he is getting treatments. Such as pounding, suctionning after his IPV treatments. He had already been in the NICU after giving birth to him for 3 1/2 weeks. He had premaure lungs. 35 weeks old at birth. Jaundice. 1 apnea spell.
192918 tn?1199451179 My 9 mo old was in the hospital last night because she got a cold that moved into her chest. The congestion was making it hard for her to breathe. She was diagnosed with reactive airway disease (RAD), which I guess is similar to asthma, but since they can't test for asthma at this age they call it RAD. Anyway, this is the second time since September that she's been in the hospital for this. Poor kid can't get a common cold without having problems breathing...
Avatar n tn I just took my 3 month old to the doctor and was told he has Reactive Airway Disease. This is my first child and I have never heard of this before. I understand it is something like asthma. Anyone who knows about this please let me know what I have to look forward to...if this type of thing continues or if there is something I can do to help cure it or at least relieve him of some of the symptoms. Still no clue what caused it. But wondering what all it entails. Thank you!!
537497 tn?1292553056 my youngest son is in the hospital right now with reactive airway disease.. I am freaking out, does anyone know anything about this??? Please lots of prayers for my little guy.. Thanks guys, you are the best...
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Avatar f tn My 3 y.o. Daughter has been diagnosed with RAD after having RSV once and Pneumonia twice and in between all that she has had bronchitis and croup several times. It all happens if she is exposed to weather or anything that can cause allergies. She also gets a cold ten times worse than normal. This morning at 1, she started wheezing and coughing out of control. We spent the weekend at a reunion in the cold wind. I think that is what caused it. I think it's croup again.
Avatar f tn RSV is a resportory disease that starts as a common cold and then starts to shot down the resportory system very scary. We finally found out what it was that my daughter had. She had strep in the stomach and intestines. Instead of the strep staying in her throat she swallowed it. She got worse that ever after I posted this, so I brought her to a different hospital and they figured it out. thanks for responding.
Avatar n tn HI MY CHILD WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD), BUT THE NEUROLOGIST ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE MRI SHOWED BRAIN SCARRING. I AM TERRIBLY CONCERNED FOR MY CHILD. I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING A SECOND OPINION. BUT WHAT KIND OF DISEASE COULD BRAIN SCARRING BE? HE HASN'T HAD A BRAIN INJURY HE ONLY HAD RSV WHEN HE WAS A NEWBORN OTHER THEN THAT HE IS RELATIVELY HEALTHY.
Avatar f tn If a person does not have RSV can they cause an infant to get RSV just by having a common cold
Avatar n tn The most common cause of bronchiolitis is a virus called respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), most commonly occurring in epidemics in late fall and winter each year. RSV affects almost all infants. Bronchiolitis can be a severe disease, but only about 1% of affected children require hospitalization. Premature infants and infants with underlying heart and lung disease are most at risk for severe, even life-threatening infections.
Avatar n tn My son is almost 7 months old. About 5 weeks ago he had come down with RSV. Although he had a mild case, the doctor had informed me of petichae and told me to keep an eye out. Shortly after I noticed a petchia on his leg. Doctor had looked and said one is normal time to time. For about 4 weeks after (RSV lingers) I noticed he started to get more. They were very small, light brown in color, and randomly placed on his legs, but wouldn't blanch with pressure.
2189208 tn?1339572701 Rsv is a really bad cold it does nothing,to adults but is in,some cases fatal to infants!
