Avatar n tn you also might want to ask your cardiologist or primary doctor about if your little one should recieve the synagis vaccine. this is to help lesson the effects of RSV (this is a viral infection) most kids can fight it off, if they are healthy to begin with. i am not sure if your little one would qualify. I wouldn't see why not. this infection from what I was toldif it affects newborns who are premmeis have a heart condition, lung issues and a low immune system.
Avatar n tn He was okay to come home then he was 5 weeks old and got really ill with the RSV and was in the hospital and then heart failure then the surgery then infection and more illness. he does have pulmomary issues partly because my hubby has asthma and the ithers they are saying is from bing on a ventilator at such a young age. Please make sure he gets the synagisis shot.(it helps lesson the rsv in a child with a heart issue and premature babies.
Avatar n tn My son is 10.5 mths old, for the last 12 weeks he has been suffering from RSV...for the first month we were give a bronchodialter, which helped for 2.5 weeks....finally after much persistance the pediatrician pegged him as having Irritable Airway Disease as well. Is this RAD? We have him on a few inhalers...what should we be looking for or is there any other treatment available? He has all of the symptoms of RSV...
Avatar f tn She was my first born baby, she weighed 9lbs 6 1/2oz, and although I had to have a C-section due to my genetic bone disease, she was delivered only 4 days before my due date, on March 19, 1999, so she was full term. To make this long story as short as I can, we hired a state certified babysitter to watch her during the day while we worked. On April 4th of 2000 we went to pick her up and the babysitter left the room to go get her from a back bedroom.

765043 tn?1234583003 My son is 2 months. He has RSV. On top of that hehas pnemonia and Broncialitis. I am concerned. He has been on life support for a week exactly today. They have him on antibiotics for infection for phnemonia. ANd they say the rsv has to run it's course. But of course he is getting treatments. Such as pounding, suctionning after his IPV treatments. He had already been in the NICU after giving birth to him for 3 1/2 weeks. He had premaure lungs. 35 weeks old at birth. Jaundice. 1 apnea spell.
192918 tn?1199451179 My 9 mo old was in the hospital last night because she got a cold that moved into her chest. The congestion was making it hard for her to breathe. She was diagnosed with reactive airway disease (RAD), which I guess is similar to asthma, but since they can't test for asthma at this age they call it RAD. Anyway, this is the second time since September that she's been in the hospital for this. Poor kid can't get a common cold without having problems breathing...
Avatar n tn I just took my 3 month old to the doctor and was told he has Reactive Airway Disease. This is my first child and I have never heard of this before. I understand it is something like asthma. Anyone who knows about this please let me know what I have to look forward to...if this type of thing continues or if there is something I can do to help cure it or at least relieve him of some of the symptoms. Still no clue what caused it. But wondering what all it entails. Thank you!!
Avatar n tn Reactive airway disease (RAD) simply means that a child is coughing and usually wheezing following some type of exposure. The most likely exposure to cause this in young children is a viral infection. The most common viral cause of wheezing in young children is the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). This is contagious, but is most common in children less than 2 years of age.
537497 tn?1292553056 my youngest son is in the hospital right now with reactive airway disease.. I am freaking out, does anyone know anything about this??? Please lots of prayers for my little guy.. Thanks guys, you are the best...
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Avatar f tn My 3 y.o. Daughter has been diagnosed with RAD after having RSV once and Pneumonia twice and in between all that she has had bronchitis and croup several times. It all happens if she is exposed to weather or anything that can cause allergies. She also gets a cold ten times worse than normal. This morning at 1, she started wheezing and coughing out of control. We spent the weekend at a reunion in the cold wind. I think that is what caused it. I think it's croup again.
Avatar n tn Despite our best efforts to keep all germs away he developed a cold at about a week and a 1/2 that progressed to the point of him being admitted to the hospital with RSV. He is doing much better today. We have been here since Thursday and at first he was in the PICU but now we are on the floor. His main problems have been that he cannot be weaned from the oxygen and his breathing gets very fast at times. The doctors say he is doing better and that all we an do is let this run its course.
Avatar n tn I have been told that fibrocystic breast disease can eventually turn into breast cancer. Is this true, and if so how high is the risk? I though it was a benign condition.
368785 tn?1270432283 Diagnosed with RSV and Bronchiolitis.
Avatar f tn RSV is a resportory disease that starts as a common cold and then starts to shot down the resportory system very scary. We finally found out what it was that my daughter had. She had strep in the stomach and intestines. Instead of the strep staying in her throat she swallowed it. She got worse that ever after I posted this, so I brought her to a different hospital and they figured it out. thanks for responding.
Avatar f tn I thought they would make it, somehow beating all the odds and statistics the researchers throw out at us about everything from hair dye to how many actually manage to beat the big "A". addiction. They were doomed it seems, from the start, and me, really wanting to believe in them and hold fast to the picture of them beating it.
Avatar m tn ******* teacher wouldn't give me two extra hours to finish quiz and homework. What an *******.
1690584 tn?1340297472 Savannah was admitted to the hospital for RSV, Bronchitis, Ear Infection. Stayed until Saturday but was released earlier then she should have been due to Christmas. Her oxygen levels were still not staying up high but she is now doing better. She does have a partial collapse of the right lung and they want to no check her heart due to some blue around the mouth.
1382889 tn?1505071193 t judge someone for making different choices, I have to again follow my path and give myself the best possible chance that my MS is going into and staying in remission. The statistics are not as clear as I would like but there does seem to be an advantage (even if it isn't huge) of this helping MS patients live a better quality of life. So I am doing it for the rest of my life. To me this isn't a sacrifice, it's as life saving of my quality of life as my meds will be.
Avatar n tn HI MY CHILD WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD), BUT THE NEUROLOGIST ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE MRI SHOWED BRAIN SCARRING. I AM TERRIBLY CONCERNED FOR MY CHILD. I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING A SECOND OPINION. BUT WHAT KIND OF DISEASE COULD BRAIN SCARRING BE? HE HASN'T HAD A BRAIN INJURY HE ONLY HAD RSV WHEN HE WAS A NEWBORN OTHER THEN THAT HE IS RELATIVELY HEALTHY.
