rsv

172411 tn?1287086265 RSV is a virus that is quite common at this time of the year - do whatever the doctor tells you and your little one will be good - untreated and uncared for, RSV can go into pneumonia, etc - its a lot of respiratory symptoms, similar to a cold or flu and seems to effect infants most commonly - probably because they are so small and immune systems are weak - do what the doctor says - and your little guy will be ok
Avatar f tn That depends in the severity of the RSV. Right now my daughter (she's 18 months) has a very mild version of RSV.
Avatar f tn Everytime they check her really good and say it is just drainage from a cold. She has not had any fever and feels good. Last night her cough seemed a little worse, but she still feels great. I am just a paranoid parent and freaked out when I got that email. I don't want to go back to the doctor for nothing. They have never even mentioned RSV to me, so that makes me think she doesn't have the other sypmtoms. I just don't know what the other symptoms are.
368785 tn?1270432283 Diagnosed with RSV and Bronchiolitis.
Avatar n tn Because obviously he's sick. Xopenex is used to treat and PREVENT bronchospasm in children and adults. Pulmicort is used to prevent and reduce symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by asthma. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It works directly in the lungs to make breathing easier by reducing the irritation and swelling of the airways. Amoxicillin is a antibiotic which a lot of times is used to treat bronchitis along with many other things.
Avatar f tn You should ask his doctor if there is any sign of lung damage from the RSV. The good news is that, in most instances of RSV resulting in frequent bouts of croup or other respiratory infection, that frequent lung problems with fever are eventually “outgrown.” Definitely seek answers to your questions from his doctor and, if not satisfied with the responses, request consultation with a pediatric lung specialist.
Avatar f tn Finally a few days ago i took him in again to the ER n they found out he has a virus newborns have been getting its Called Rsv n if they would have tested it before they would have found it i was So pissed!!! So now today we got out of the childerns hospital they sent him home with oxygen but to me he still seems bad but they that he was Fine!!
Avatar n tn Despite our best efforts to keep all germs away he developed a cold at about a week and a 1/2 that progressed to the point of him being admitted to the hospital with RSV. He is doing much better today. We have been here since Thursday and at first he was in the PICU but now we are on the floor. His main problems have been that he cannot be weaned from the oxygen and his breathing gets very fast at times. The doctors say he is doing better and that all we an do is let this run its course.
Avatar f tn RSV is one thing that I am really worried about. That is why I have taken Anna to the doctor 3 different times for the same cough. They always say her lungs are clear and have never even mentioned RSV to me. She feels fine during the day and is eating well. She has no fever and isn't seeming to have trouble breathing. Do you think she could still have RSV? My reason for not going back to the doctor is that where I live, flu and a serious stomach virus are really bad.
Avatar n tn Anyone notice we TTCers are in good company? 5 of the greatest women in the Bible struggled with infertility until God "opened their wombs": Sarah (Gen 16:2 and 21:1-2) Rebekah (Gen. 25:20-22) Rachel (Gen 30:1-2,22-24) Hannah (I Samuel 1:5, 19-20) Elizabeth (Luke 1:7, 24-25) I believe the Bible is true. But even for those of you who are not religious, you have to admit that it is surprising that so many women in the Bible were infertile.
1690584 tn?1340297472 Savannah was admitted to the hospital for RSV, Bronchitis, Ear Infection. Stayed until Saturday but was released earlier then she should have been due to Christmas. Her oxygen levels were still not staying up high but she is now doing better. She does have a partial collapse of the right lung and they want to no check her heart due to some blue around the mouth.
Avatar n tn My son is 10.5 mths old, for the last 12 weeks he has been suffering from RSV...for the first month we were give a bronchodialter, which helped for 2.5 weeks....finally after much persistance the pediatrician pegged him as having Irritable Airway Disease as well. Is this RAD? We have him on a few inhalers...what should we be looking for or is there any other treatment available? He has all of the symptoms of RSV...
Avatar m tn Can RSV cause cardiac arrest in a child with passed myocarditis and would he qualify to recieve rsv shot to prevent him from getting it.
Avatar f tn From what I was told that if you baby wasn't premature or have a cardiac history then having RSV most likley is going to be mild. here is what you should loook for for worseing things, my son had it when he was 5 weeks old and he does have a cardiac issue so I hope your little one is healthy. look for bluish on the lops nail and nail bed. your little one really struggling to breathe if his nostrils are moving back and forth as well as him "sucking in " at his ribs.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 2 years old. About 9 months ago she got RSV and phemonia and was hospitalized. Since then she's been hospitalized 7 times. They thought she may have got asthma from the RSV which is common, but they don't think so anymore. She can't handle the common cold. Her O2 stats go down to 86, breaths per minute around 60. The olds she gets aren't even bad. It could just be a stuffy nose. They usually give her breathing treaments and steriods. Neither seem to really help.
Avatar f tn Sorry I wrote this backwards, (like not in order). Soo they checked his vitals every 4-6 hours I can't remember the time frame. And they kept deep suctioning his nose. Which BTW that is so important to do! Make sure you keep suctioning. Dr recommended something called nosefrida which actually works so much better than the regular blue bulb suction. Its odd the way it works but it does the job so much better. Make sure you do it before every feeding and apply saline drops prior.
Avatar f tn My six month old has RSV! He was tested positive for it two days ago. He is not eating much at all and on amoxicillin. His fever is gone now but he is still breathing fast and still very raspy! The hospital told me that RSV would not affect his appetite it was because his nose was stuffed up???? How long does it usually take for his breathing to get better?? I always thought that most babies with RSV were hospitalized. Isnt there something else they could give him to improve his breathing.

1346146 tn?1299360497 My friends daughter got RSV when she was a baby and now she seems to get chronic respiratory infections at least once a year for 5 years now
Avatar n tn Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is pretty much related to age. That is, as he ages, the frequency of RSV should progressively diminish.
284738 tn?1283106819 he just got his 3rd and last synagis until rsv season starts back up again in october. the good news is, rsv season is almost over. unfortunately, our little ones got it at the very end. :( i know it's still out there even when it's not in season, but it's not as bad... hope your little one gets better soon!!

Avatar n tn My 12 month twin girls both had RSV in March with one hospitalized for 5 days on oxygen. One week after they were over the RSV they began coughing, just at night. The family doc we see first tried decongestants, then Zantac, and now we are doing albuterol/pulmicort nebs twice a day. Since they only cough at night does it seem possible that they are coming in contact with a bedroom allergy? The cough is loose and rattley sounding and sometimes they gag or vomit.
490418 tn?1209523379 My 6yr old son died due to complication from RSV in Feb. 2008. He did get Synagis until his third winter. He was in the hospital for most of RSV season his first two years and did not get RSV. The next year we were denied Synagis due to the cost. He ended up on a vent in the PICU for a week. The following winter he spent 10 days in the hospital with RSV. This year he spent the first week in PICU and the next two week on Eccmo. He died on his 6th birthday. We never even heard of RSV IG.
