Restasis steroid

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis steroid

restasis

Avatar m tn Ask your surgeon but restasis is not stoppeed by our surgeons. Steroid drops are not a problem, in fact I often put the patient on steroid drops when they start restasis to reduce stinging/burning. Use the steroids about 2-3 weeks. Good luck. Be patient. Restasis is a wonderful medication. My wife has been on it about 3 years with wonderful results.
Avatar m tn Rare anyone to be too sensitive to restasis. My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly.
Avatar m tn I have chronic eye inflammation due to sjs/ten and have been using a steroid drop and ivig drops to control the inflammation. If I add other types of eye drops that help with inflammation to my regiment will that further reduce the level of inflammation? Or is there a limit to how much the inflammation can be reduced?
184420 tn?1326739808 Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar m tn We have been on Restasis with spectacular results for over 8 years. There are two other drops like Restasis, xiidra which patients do not like and is very expensive and Cequa which is same medicine as restasis but stronger concentration. Ask you ophthalmologist about Restasis (cyclosporin) think it just became available as generic.
Avatar f tn / surgeon diagnosed as me as possible glaucoma. The pressure in my eyes was 24.5 . He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open. ( looks like a lazy eye) never had it before. He says my inplants look great. yesterday i saw him my right eye had raised pressure to 26.
Avatar m tn I have said many times on this forum both my wife and I have very bad dry eyes and we both are on restasis her for about 6-7 years and me for 3 years with excellent results. Restasis is twice/day for the rest of your life and it takes 4-6 months to fully become effective. Read about it on their website and see an Eye MD that specializes in cornea diseases and discuss.
Avatar f tn My eye doctor just Rx'd Lotemax (4 weeks) & Restasis (for life) for my extremely dry eyes. They feel like sand is in them. I am concerned because from what I can understand Restasis works through the auto immune system. I am in week 38 of standard treatment and since week 16 of treatment have had a hypothyroid. Any advice? I also was told this morning to increase Procrit from 20,000 to 40,000 a week because Hgb was only 8.5 on this weeks lab.
Avatar m tn What causes clear strips/clumps of goo/mucus/jelly that have to be blinked off your cornea to stop the blur? It happens to me all the time but seems to be worse in the mornings. I've been told it's dry eye but that just doesn't seem right. I'd be eternally grateful to any help or advice. Doctors keep telling me it's dry eye but I've been on restasis for around 3 months with no real improvement. p.s.
Avatar m tn I went to my eye doctors office as a work in and diagnosed with concretions and dry eye. This doctor prescribed Lotemax, Restasis and told me I had chronic inflammation. He didn't check my pressure for glaucoma I didn't realize it until I went for my 6 week follow up and my pressure was 25 last year it was 14 and 16 and field tests looked good. So I may have drug induced glaucoma due to my family having it.
Avatar n tn You can try using a mild steroid drops for the first few weeks of treatment to ease of transition. Restasis does have pretty good science behind it and decent results can be obtained after 6 or 12 months of continuous treatment. Talk to your ophthalmolgist about restarting treatment. Also ask if the plugs are still in and consider getting new ones if needed. Try adding oral omega 3 fish oil and flax seed oil and modify lifestyle to reduce reading and computer work some.
Avatar n tn re not on steroid drops now they can cause steroid glaucoma and steroid cataracts if on for months and months. 3. Your iris doesn't change color but can look different in different ambient lighting. You have a bi-color pupil. If the pupil is smaller it will look more hazel if the pupil is big it will look more brown. If I remember your photo the outer ring is brown and the inner ring a lighter color. The spots on your iris look like common as dirt freckles (iris freckles).
Avatar f tn has anyone taken restasis? I either get intense lacrimation and cannot see, or now my orbital is attacked and I cannot focus in one eye. any success with anything?
Avatar f tn I have had severe dry eyes since last June, including all the symptoms such as stabbing pains when I wake up. After 2 steroid drops, Sooth XP, Freshtears gel at night, and now finally Restasis and Lotemax, I see no improvment. I have been taking the Restasis for 5 months now. If it was going to work, would it have worked by now? I show no signs of improvment. After spending lots of money that is hard for me to come up with, I am at my wits end. Any other suggestions?
Avatar f tn i had cataract sursery 9 months ago, have been noticing poorer vision, was diagnosed with 'dry eyes'. Have been using Restasis for two weeks now, eyes seem irritated, are red, I need to blink a lot. Is this normal? Will this go away if I have to use this product for the rest of my life? How is this helping me?
Avatar n tn I have noticed the burning sensation you have discussed. What is the success rate for Restasis for people who have tried it and stuck to the Restasis program.
Avatar n tn i went to see a corneal specialist 12 days after the onset. i had th virus in both eyes. the docto prescribed lotemax- to be tapered as well as restasis. my questions are as follows: 1) how long do i need to be on the steroids before my vision begins to improve? 2) by taking the steroids- did i increase the time i am contageous for? if so for how long? 3) what is the point of the steroid taper? 4) what is the likelyhood that after roughly six weeks on the steroids i will be healed?
Avatar n tn Some contacts work better than others with dry eyes. You might try switching to a different type/brand. Everyone's different, but 1-day Acuvue moist lenses worked well for me.
Avatar f tn I then tried Restasis for 3 months.and all it did was burn, so I stopped. If you read the fine print, Restasis only works in 15% of the people. I found that liquid eye drops can aggravate the situation because they don't seem to contain the "oily" tears that are needed to protect the eye from drying. Often I would get headaches that started with my eyes hurting. I finally found that eye ointments works and Genteal PM was the best.
Avatar f tn Ask your ophthalmologist about putting you on a steroid drop like lotemax for several weeks to stop the cyclosporin burning.
Avatar m tn After extensive testing (hormonal and auto-immune) came back normal, my doctors can not figure out how a 20 year old can have such sudden severe dry eye. I am on restasis, have punctal plugs, tried steroid drops, warm compresses, lid massages, and I have not gotten relief. They said my tear break up time is low, but I don't have much meibomitis, my schmimer fluctuates every time (from 4 to 20) so the doctors say is not a really reliable measure.
Avatar m tn ve been on restasis for the past few months so I was thinking maybe it was something to do with the tear film reforming itself but I'm not sure. There's not really any pain or redness. Is this cause for concern? Should I visit the ophthalmologist?
601296 tn?1219767500 You need to be on Restasis, ask the eye MD to use a steroid drop when you first start. A trial of Restasis is 6 months on the medicine. stick with it.
Avatar n tn I have dry eyes and so far Doctor's can't help me. I have been on restasis and it is not helping. Will I go blind...
Avatar f tn I saw 3 ophthalmologists and had all kinds of tests done. My tear quality was poor among other things. I was put on restasis and steroid eye drops which helped immensely with the irritation. I eventually stopped the restasis (the steroids were of course a short course) and everything has been pretty good with only occasional issues that with a day or two of warm compresses have alleviated symptoms. I tried to keep a mental note of what might have caused the flare.
Avatar f tn I would suggest a trial of cyclosporin (Restasis) as it is much safer long term because of the steroid side effects of cataracts, glaucoma and cornea infection. Not in some cases it has lasted 30-40 years and is more commin in females. So you are probably asking for trouble continuing to wear contacts. You should place yourself under the care of an ophthalmologist Eye MD that specializes in cornea and external disease.
807912 tn?1242136155 You know that PF is an ultrastrong steroid. Besides reducing inflammation it makes a lot of other eye problems feel better including dry eye and blepharitis. It also as you know has lots of side effects with long term use. You might use the search feature and read about dry eye and blepharitis. Discuss with your retina MD or general Eye MD. You may need restasis if the problem persists.
