Restasis floaters

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis floaters

restasis

Avatar f tn I have been on restasis for about 3 years and my wife 7 and I have hundreds of patients on restasis. Now floaters are common and can occur anytime. Thus people decide that their floaters are due to whatever they have been doing. Example attributing them to flying, reading, watching tv or having their pupils dilated. Remember it take 4-6 months for restasis to become fully effective.
Avatar f tn Can you still have dry eye with Restasis? Maybe this is the cause of the pain. Also the floaters are still in the left eye. Can the floaters cause pain also?
Avatar m tn I'm 35-year-old male in otherwise good health (I did have Lasik 10 years ago with no problems other than some dryness). 9 weeks ago after the birth of my second daughter, I started having some discomfort from dryness in my eyes, and then one day after a panic attack (my wife had complications post delivery and we had to rush her to ER), my vision went blurred and it has not returned to normal since then.
Avatar n tn Because I have intermediate uveitis that went into remission and came back as low-grade anterior uveitis I have seen in the past month a neuro opthamologist a retina specialist and a uveitis specialist. I am very lucky that although my right eye has uveitis, glaucoma successfully being treated and cataracts I still have 20/30 vision because I keep up on everything and follow my doctor's orders!
Avatar f tn The thing that most concerns me is the description of lots of tiny new floaters. That is more concerning that a few big floaters. This is especially true if you have had some flashes or light; if your refractive error prior to surgery was greater than -3.00 or of there is a history of retinal detachment. I would insistent on a repeat examination of the retina. As for the big floaters you will get use to them or they will settle down below or lateral to your visual axis.
Avatar n tn He said I need to have yearly checkups to monitor it and explained to me the symptoms of a retinal detachment and told me I would need to go to the ER if I had them. He also said if I have an increase in floaters to go back and see him before my follow up. I have a follow up in two months to check on the dry eyes since they were really dry at this appointment. Can anyone help explain this a bit more in detail to me and in a way that I can understand it better?
Avatar m tn I would look for a safe reliable solution for difficult or debilatating floaters. It is such a recurring theme here. There has to be a way through either laser or other technology to reliably and safely move these out of line or sight, or destroy them. Even if there is a charge involved (like Lasik), I think there are enough folks suffering out there to make this worthwhile.
Avatar n tn Aggressive surface treatment (plugs and possibly Restasis) are recommended. The vitreous floaters are very bothersome. Unfortunately cure is surgical and not always 100%. Look up "vitrectomy for floaters only." Best wishes, Timothy D. McGarity, M.D.
Avatar m tn Three weeks later( November) I had it exchanged with traditional lens( a month later I developed many chunky floaters in that eye- I can live with the floaters but not the pain). Since the last procedure I have constantly experienced pain/discomfort in that left eye. The surgeon who did the last operation basically says the discomfort/pain is caused by dry eye. As the pain has persisted I have consulted other ophthalmologists.
Avatar n tn However, he discovered that since my exam in August I had already become more myopic and he said I had a thin tear film and diagnosed me with k sicca not from sjrogrens. I did a round of steroid eye drops and then I have been on restasis. He admitted the spots were weird and theorized they may be dry spots, but he didn't know. Now I know it sounds weird when I say my eye color is changing, but I have always had VERY dark brown eyes...even with a flash on the camera.
Avatar m tn ve been experiencing what I though at first were floaters, but turns out is vitreous syneresis (from my most recent opthamologist visit). I was recommended to a retina specilist who said he notices a slight contraction in my vitreous and changing in it's consistency. I have another appt with a different retina specialist next week for a 2nd opinion since 2 other opthamologists have said things look OK when doing a complete retinal eye exam.
Avatar f tn I believe you have two different problems. The irritation is a surface condition and can be helped with tears, Restasis, Omega 3 and punctal plugs. The "silver bubbles" are probably floaters. You should see Dr. **** Lindrom if you live in the Minesota area. Floater can be removed, but most surgeon would recommend against it. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar m tn Rare anyone to be too sensitive to restasis. My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly.
Avatar f tn I have seen many opthamologist since had an oct scan that came back normal. However was diagnoised With MGD and dry eye(having to use 12 drops a day). My floaters have also become a lot bigger however I've been told my eyes are perfectly normal. I'm worried as I've never had any issue before and it's unbearable wondering if there is permanent damage and if I will have to live like this for the rest of my life or if it's the beginning of an autoimmune diseases?
Avatar f tn Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
Avatar n tn I prescribe Restasis and I use Restasis. I am not familiar with a blue vial holder. I Googled the term and nothing comes up so I don't know anything about it.
Avatar m tn Im a 23yr old male. I have been seeing halos around lights for about a month now. They started in my right eye a couple of days after a bad case of viral conjuntivitis (pink eye). I went to see an ophtalmologist who told me I had "scars" in my retina and put me on RESTASIS® (cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion) 0.05% and Flarex for two weeks. After a couple of days using the drops the halos disapeared, but they came back about 2 days after I stopped using the drops.
Avatar m tn I have a moderate to serious dry eye. I am going to start my Restasis today and I know that I will not see the result till 2 months or more from now. I am also planning for a cataract surgery in 1 to 2 months. I also foresee that I will use some steroid or antibotics for a few weeks after the surgery. Do I need to stop Restasis once I start the steroid ?
Avatar m tn Can I put temporary plug and try Restasis at the same time as Restasis takes quite a long time to kick in.
Avatar f tn I have not seen this in my Restasis patients. Dr. O.
Avatar m tn dry eyes use the search feature and archives to read about treatment. Most ophthalmologists now us RESTASIS before the plugs (me too) because the plugs tend to fall out or irritate eye and Restasis is such a fantastic medicine.
Avatar n tn He also did a schrimers test and I scored only 3 and 4. He prescribed restasis and I had improvement. But all through this I have also had another strange thing, when I wake up at night in the dark, I see a quick flash of a "C"'. It is a lighted shape, and flashes a couple of times then goes away. I see it everytime I wake up in the dark. I do not notice it during the day, although I have a lot of floaters during the day. Is this a Weiss ring? And is it dangerous?
427279 tn?1210919821 but eyes have changed first time in years ...and he said i had extremely dry eyes....wants me to take restasis but kept saying "you may not think it's working for you but it will be just keep using it...hmmmmmm....so anyway all is good just so tired dont want to move...
Avatar m tn s syndrome on steroids for long periods. Most of my patients with your problems I treat with Restasis twice daily for the rest of their life. I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family.
Avatar m tn My Eye Doctor suggested I keep Restasis in the fridge to make more comfortable and reduce the burning and to keep using ir for 2 days. Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
