restasis

Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar f tn Dr Hagan, is the Restasis contact friendly? if not, i may have to give up the contacts and start using my glasses on a full time basis. Being I am in the Cleveland area I have the best Dr''s too choose from. My eyes are severly dry & Restasis seems to be the best treatment option for me. Also I will starrt taking the Omega -3 suppl. as you suggested. thankx again for your comments take care j.
Avatar m tn I have a moderate to serious dry eye. I am going to start my Restasis today and I know that I will not see the result till 2 months or more from now. I am also planning for a cataract surgery in 1 to 2 months. I also foresee that I will use some steroid or antibotics for a few weeks after the surgery. Do I need to stop Restasis once I start the steroid ?
184420 tn?1326739808 Have you been 2 an eye Dr?I had the same problem and the eye dr gave me restasis and Lotemax. Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar f tn I put my Restasis drops in at 8:30 this morning and then again at 9:30 am. Just a goof. Cannot get ahold of my doctor and info about this on the web says - Call Your Doctor! So.....two hours later - what do I do - not do? Thank you.
Avatar f tn can plugs be used with Restasis? (Restasis info says no but Dr. says yes) 2. Should I try plugs 1st and if not successful, then go back to Restasis? 3. In reading about Restasis, are there future bad side effects in continued use such as cancer? I am starting to question if I should get another opinion. Thank you for any suggestions that you may have.
Avatar m tn i was RX: restasis rx for dry eye 1/11 thurs 1/30 i started alot of post nasal symptoms by sat i had laryngitis severe by sunday went to er, they said stop restasis. viral syndrom dx. is laryngitis a side effect? i am very sensitive to all rx drugs and antibiotics , i have intolerences so did these eye drops cause this , also on synthyroid for goitors need help, i stopped the drops but i have this post tickle coughing jags no fever no rash ..
Avatar m tn No restasis works with a plug. What usually would be done is a "permanet" plug that won't disolve but that is easy to remove because it has a cap would be put in and left till you switch to restasis. Collagen and dissolving plugs usually just last several weeks at most.
Avatar f tn I am having the same issue since starting Restasis about 2 months ago. The first month my vision seemed to be fine, but around week 6, my left eye has become very blurry at all times. Even my up close vision, which I've never had issues with has become blurry, and fuzzy. Also, everything in my left eye looks very dim, almost a shade of blue. I went to an eye specialist last week about this, and he told me that there were no signs of anything wrong.
Avatar f tn Taking fish oil capsules and getting punctal plugs as suggested by Dr. Ray above helped me. I have both dry eyes and bleph. It seems to me that my dry eyes have also been helped by my bleph treatment. In addition to using Soothe eyedrops, which are preservative free, I wash my eyelids once or twice a day using the suds from an anti bacterial dial soap bar. This is a tip which I got previously got on medhelp. While it may seem as if it is difficult to do, it is not.
Avatar f tn I've recently posted that I just recently started Restasis, but my question is will the red eyes start getting better as the Restasis starts to work. Does dry eyes cause them to be red.......... I mean they are not horribly red, but are somewhat irritated. Will my eyes be like this always or will they get better eventually. My eye Dr. said they're not too bad, but I know that this is not they way they were before.
Avatar n tn After taking restasis for over a year and my dry eyes was not getting better the Dr. gave me lotemax but said only use that. Now after using it for 2 months only, he said I shouldn't have stopped the restasis. Now I am really annoyed.....have I lost what improvement I may have gained with the restasis having stopped it for two months? Should I be seeing a opthomologist rather than a Dr. of Optometry???
Avatar n tn Dear Dr. Hagan: Thank you for the thoughtful (and hopeful!) comment and the referral to your blog. It sounds like I went off the Restasis too soon. I tried one temporary plug which did not benefit but will look into longer term use based on your suggestion. Best regards.
Avatar n tn I did get plugs, but how do you tell if they are still there? I started restasis but it burned my eyes so terribly. I put in two drops two times a day and that probably was too much. I had such a terrible reaction to it. It has been about two years and my eyes seem to have recovered, but I would like to try it again. Do you think that is wise? My eyes sting constantly if I do not put drops in every 15 to 20 min. It is difficult. I just need other alternatives. Help need advice.
Avatar m tn re going broke buying eye drops then plugs or restasis should be considered. Restasis helps both types of dry eyes (now called tears dysfunction syndrome) 1. where the eye is dry as a bone and 2 where the eye waters all the time.
Avatar f tn I tried OTC preservative free drops, lotemax, restasis, omega 3 fish oil, and am drinking a lot of water. My remedies are helping but this condition is awful and I'm not sure if I'm doing enough to reduce the symptoms. Is there anything else I can try to help my condition? I know that my pink eye had something to do with my tear production so I was hoping someone else had a similar experience and had a successful remedy to deal with this.
415867 tn?1323365503 My eye dr. wanted me to do restasis eye drops prior to me having lasik eye surgery done. She gave me trial ones until I got the rx filled so I've been using them for 10 days now, twice a day. I finally took the rx in to get filled and before I signed and paid there was a "don't take if pregnant or trying to becoming pregnant" I was like...."Woo~" So I talked to the pharmacist and she said that my eye dr.
Avatar f tn has anyone taken restasis? I either get intense lacrimation and cannot see, or now my orbital is attacked and I cannot focus in one eye. any success with anything?
Avatar n tn The Restasis prescription sounds like a case of the "take two of these and call me in the morning" cliche, but it couldn't hurt so you might as well try.
Avatar f tn I have had severe dry eyes since last June, including all the symptoms such as stabbing pains when I wake up. After 2 steroid drops, Sooth XP, Freshtears gel at night, and now finally Restasis and Lotemax, I see no improvment. I have been taking the Restasis for 5 months now. If it was going to work, would it have worked by now? I show no signs of improvment. After spending lots of money that is hard for me to come up with, I am at my wits end. Any other suggestions?
Avatar f tn My wife and I are both on restasis. Surely you don't mean you're paying $420/month for restasis. That surely is for all your medications. You can buy restasis for cash, no insurance for much less than than and also there is a discount coupon available from the manufacturer. You can also buy on internet from pharmacies e.g. Canada. MOREOVER if you use one vial up completely it will last 2 days. If you used as directed you would use 4 vials. This cuts your cost by 75%.
Avatar f tn I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
