Common Questions and Answers about Rebif for ms

rebif

Avatar f tn m sure there are many medications for MS for different things but I am wondering if MS medication is to eleviate symptoms or to slow down progression?
Avatar m tn I have MS and have been taking Rebif foe 7 years. It has worked very well. I just learned that my current drug insurance plan from Humana will not cover Rebif in 2015. What plans cover at least some of the Rebif cost? My copay with Humana was about $300 per month. Would like not to exceed this amount.
Avatar n tn I have read and heard that certain chemotherapy agents are being considered for MS and other autoimmune diseases. Maybe there are clinical trials she can get into? Somewhere? Doctors use other medications "off label" but I doubt this is the case with chemo drugs yet.
Avatar n tn I've been on Rebif for about 13 years. My insurance recently stopped covering it, but offered Aubagio as an alternative--sounded good to me! I'll be switching, but I'm worried about just stopping Rebif cold turkey (which my neurologist suggests). Has anyone had any experiences with stopping Rebif?
1776579 tn?1314370278 I was symptom free for six years until a UTI stirred up my MS again. A round of steroids and going back on my rebif seems to have once again calmed things down, thankfully. Does this mean we are cured? No, just fortunate :) be thankful. Stay on your meds, and live each day to it's fullest.
422172 tn?1215990852 Is anyone in a clinical trial for MS? There are a few out there, one that is a T-Cell vaccine, two are oral and one that pairs Copaxone with daily oral steroid use. Just interested in peoples experiences.
Avatar f tn s only for RRMS, but my neuro says he puts all of his MS paatients on it, and he is an MS specialist, or so his credentials say...Any info would be helpful, Thanks!
280482 tn?1262960714 Call MS Lifelines (the Rebif nurses) now. I think Rebif is contraindicated in pregnancy. If you don't have their number handy, find it on their website. Congratulations!! First baby?
Avatar n tn I was misdiagnosed with MS in 2007. I took the Rebif injections until the first part of 2011. I have heard a lot of talk that Rebif could possibly cause cancer. Now I had an abnormal mammogram. There is no cancer in any of my family. Is it possible that Rebif could cause breast cancer?
1028689 tn?1254441334 i started rebif about a month and a half ago.since then depression has been rampant!!!night sweats have been rampant!!!im also on wellbutrin for depression.im told that it takes roughly three months for rebif side affects to subside>can anyone share there experience with rebif.ive been dx with relapsing ms recently, august fifth to be exact and my life is upside down!!!!!!im talking on the virge of mental breakdown.any input is welcome...
Avatar m tn That is too bad - I was hoping after your long wait you would have good luck with the first one and being able to stick with it. It is in the back of my head that I heard a doctor put Avonex as the less potent of the interferons, but I may be wrong. If that is true, I think I would step up to Rebif. Did your doctor offer any ideas or can you schedule an appt with the MS nurses and discuss it further?
Avatar m tn My boyfriend has ms and has been using rebif for 6 years now. The doctor says that he needn't take it anymore because he has improved. I am very afraid that he wont be ok if he quit rebif.
Avatar f tn No one should have to endure gaining more than 30 lbs from medication, and this is especially hard for a young girl. She has enough to contend with from MS. I urge you to talk to the neurologist asap. If this proves a stumbling block, there are also other good MS doctors. We have to be proactive whether we like it or not. Best of luck to you and your daughter.
333672 tn?1273792789 Well, I did end up going to this seminar, which was definitely slanted to put Rebif in a good light, but was reasonably upfront about that and at least made some effort to supply info about all the DMDs (if only because the legal people made them do it). First there were some PowerPoint slides narrated by Dr. David Mattson, the MS neuro at IU. The slides were apparently supplied by the Rebif people, but I don't know how much of the narration was.
Avatar n tn However, it is rare for this to become serious or for someone with MS to have pure dementia. (Looking back at that sentence I will all poor speeling and fine motor control to the list also) We certainly hope that your GF will respond to the Rebif and have few signs of her disease for a long time. That is the best outcome. Rebif, nor any of the other three firstline meds, are considered cures. Rebif is an excellent med with a good reputation.
11924850 tn?1601364171 Hello. Does anyone take Rebif for MS? Is it helping? How long before any improvement? Does anyone think that it's just a false hope with nasty side effects? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hello. I have been on Rebif now for just over three years after nine and a half years taking Avonex. Have been very consistent in making sure to take my shots. Having a short term memory moment, realized the other day while taking my 2nd to last shot of my current distribution; This being true, tomorrow will be my last shot with a schedule to take the first of a new packet on Saturday, Dec 22nd. Many thanks if you can supply me with the appropriate phone number to order a next batch.
