Common Questions and Answers about Rebif and ms

rebif

Avatar n tn I was misdiagnosed with MS in 2007. I took the Rebif injections until the first part of 2011. I have heard a lot of talk that Rebif could possibly cause cancer. Now I had an abnormal mammogram. There is no cancer in any of my family. Is it possible that Rebif could cause breast cancer?
Avatar f tn My husband has MS, was diagnosed four years ago, and is on Rebif. He tolerates the medication very well. It was helping him in the very beginning. But he is starting to progressively get worse. Does smoking have anything to do with MS and Progression?
Avatar m tn Same here i live in Albania and there is few information and ms specialist.. Can you please tell me how your friend did after quitting???
1082885 tn?1256244474 I currently take Plaquenil for connective tissue disease that an Rheumatologist stated that I had. However, I was recently diagnosed with MS. I've read about some research regarding plaquenil assisting with MS patients. I'd like to know can it help with MS lesions and can it cause problems while taking Rebif? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hello and Welcome to the Forum :) Is that what your Neuro is wanting you to take? Perhaps you could do some reading on Rebif as well as the other DMD's and then you can make a well informed decision that is right for You. Again, Welcome to the Forum.
198419 tn?1360242356 Let us know how you make out and what if anything you think Rebif may have to do with this. I start Rebif next week and am keeping fingers crossed that it doesn't disagree with me. Another thought --- have you tried calling the Rebif patient support program to tell them about the hives? Perhaps they have heard from other patients with the same problem? Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I've been on Rebif for about 13 years. My insurance recently stopped covering it, but offered Aubagio as an alternative--sounded good to me! I'll be switching, but I'm worried about just stopping Rebif cold turkey (which my neurologist suggests). Has anyone had any experiences with stopping Rebif?
1489159 tn?1288657429 Hi there, Sorry for your diagnosis. The side affects mentioned in the literature can and do happen. I'm a Rebif user for 3 years now and do very well. My site reactions are just a warm (to touch) pink about the size of a silver dollar. I inject straight up without the autoinjector but I many people use the auto and it works very well for them. Like all meds it's important to weigh out the benefits and risks.
1149087 tn?1415316549 When he heard about this he was adamant that the Interferons were off my possible list of meds. He would not re-prescribe Avonex and said that Rebif and Betaseron would likely (not definitely) be worse. As a physician, myself, this makes sense. When a person has a problem that is associated with a class of medications, they can be possibly have that problem with all members of that class.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone on here who is or has breastfed while taking interferons. I was diagnosed with ms last week and my dr. has prescribed Rebif. If the diagnoses wasn't bad enough, I found out that I will no longer be able to breastfeed my son due to the medicine. Through online research it looks like the interferon molecule is too big to get into the milk and would be destroyed in his digestive track anyway. It also looks like interferons are naturally occuring in the milk.
Avatar f tn s only for RRMS, but my neuro says he puts all of his MS paatients on it, and he is an MS specialist, or so his credentials say...Any info would be helpful, Thanks!
Avatar f tn I had asked this question once before, if anyone had experienced diarrhea on Rebif. And one member replied, that, yes, she had diarrhea & she was on Rebif, but wasn't sure if it was from the Rebif. I developed severe diarrhea, 4 months after starting Rebif. Now, I'd like to ask more about it. I was diagnosed with Lymphocytic colitis, 12/17/2012. I took 3, 3 mg. of Budesonide capsules a day(generic Entocort) for 6 weeks, with no reduction in the diarrhea. So, then, my G.I.
1149087 tn?1415316549 i have had at least 4 episodes of major depression in the last 10 years and shorter depressive phases in between and have been diagnosed with ms this february 2010 (due to a chance mri finding). first i was started on avonex and 4 days after the first shot started having bouts of severe suicidal depression, so i was told to stop immediately. then i was started on rebif going up gradually, week 1 on 1/4 of the full (44 microgr) dose, then increasing by 1/4 every week until full dose.
Avatar f tn This has been going on since Dec so not sure if it is the Rebif for just MS. I take one Tylenol PM and that does not even seem to help.
1028689 tn?1254441334 BabyBoy1016 I have been diagnosed with RRMS as well and my first treatment was Rebif. I was on it for 6 months and I had rampant side effect as well as a HUGE increase in my depression. When I notified my Dr. he immediately took me off Rebif for 30 days, and started me on Copaxone. Copaxone has had numerous studies and all the studies proved that Copaxone doesn't increase anxiety. I urge you to let you Dr.
Avatar f tn They were high, so at that point my neuro instructed me to go off all meds and supplements, and no alcohol, stayed on Rebif and they remained high when test was repeated. Went off Rebif, stayed off other meds and alcohol, they returned to normal, and remained so after I started other meds again and consumed alcohol again. This is how we could be certain it was Rebif causing the prolem.
1615215 tn?1298648648 24 and my neuro told me that tha t it wasnt a significantly difference and sometimes the scales change a bit in each person, well as I already said I m going to start Rebif in a few weeks and I wanted to know if any of you had this problem or if you know that it could affect because of the Rebif.. Thanks..
Avatar n tn I love Rebif! It has worked VERY well for me and has definately slowed down my MS and i have not had a serious relapse since starting the medication. I have been on Rebif for 6 years now and i have only just stopped taking it so that i can plan for a baby. As soon as i have a baby im going straight back on it. No one likes giving themselves needles but i got used to Rebif after a while.
335728 tn?1331414412 Rebif for MS The phase II trial involved patients with early, relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis who had not been treated with other MS drugs. A total of 110 patients were treated with standard Rebif and 220 patients were treated with alemtuzumab. Results of the four-year review showed that about 77% of alemtuzumab-treated patients were relapse-free compared with 49% treated with Rebif.
