Ranitidine for nausea

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine for nausea

zantac

Avatar n tn For over a month now I have been suffering from stomach pain, nausea, a bit of gas and bloating, and food tasting really weird/gross. I've been taking prescribed antacids for it and lots of generic tums. A similar thing like this occurred a month ago, however, my stomach only hurt when I touched the very lower portion of it then. Today my stomach hurts when I touch it mostly in the middle and when I don't touch it. The pain feels like the inside of my stomach is just raw.
Avatar f tn Thanks for quick reply. I've been taking for about a week. It has really Helped the heartburn but the nausea is miserable. My hope is that it will improve as not eating because of nausea is not a solution.
520191 tn?1355635402 Wow...that's awful! While I never had a reaction like Freddie's....I do believe Ranitidine made me persistently nauseous for an entire year straight. I've had GERD, a hiatal hernia and stomach problems for years. After a long stint with Nexium, I decided to get on a non-PPI and something more minor. Ranitidine was the suggestion. Though I've always struggled with nausea here and there....for a year of my life I struggled with nausea constantly. Almost every single day.
Avatar n tn A couple years ago he also put me on 20 mg Omeprazole to take once a day for 14 days, after which he said I could start taking the Ranitidine again if i still had the heartburn.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your response. I think I'm nauseous because of meds. that I am taking for asthma/inflammation - 2 inhalers, Theophylline, Singulair & MS meds. I almost constantly feel a very mild nausea, but sometimes it's not so mild. It's very frustrating and many times prevents me from eating the healthy foods I try to eat. I end up eating junk food, because these foods are what I feel I can tolerate & almost taste good (doughy type foods like pretzels, pizza).
Avatar f tn I should add though that anxiety did make my symptoms a lot worse. So anxiety over your symptoms could be causing your nausea to feel more intense. I know it did that to me. I took ranitidine for a long time and didn't notice much relief from it. Has it helped you at all? I ended up switching to nexium which was amazing. It stopped my acid reflux in its tracks. But getting a handle on my anxiety also worked wonder for my reflux and I rarely get it all anymore.
Avatar m tn ve now progressed to difficulty swallowing and for the first time this morning, fairly severe heart burn that I took some gaviscon for. Can ranitidine stop working? Should I try something else? Any advice would be helpful... it's been 5 weeks of misery and it keeps me pretty anxious (I'm not necessarily miserable, just wondering when it will all end) and frustrated to the point that I'm on the verge of tears at times.
401095 tn?1351391770 I had the nausea for a long time as well. As a matter of fact I"m still taking ranitidine to calm my stomach. Throwing up is not normal after 3 weeks of withdrawl. It's probably the seafood you ate but if it continues for the next day or two i would see a doctor.
Avatar n tn Had IV fluids for a day and Cyclizine injections to stop sickness, plus Ranitidine antacids which made a huge difference for me. Will be on Cyclizine + Ranitidine oral tablets for the rest of my pregnancy, am 18+2 and looking forward to being able to enjoy it at last!
Avatar f tn Three to four years ago, my pediatric had prescribed me 300 mg Ranitidine for heart burn. A few months later, a urgent care physician had prescribed me the same medicine. In total, I've taken two bottles of Ranitidine (approx 2 months worth of tablets). I've been paranoid ever since I learned that Ranitidine had been recalled due to a link to cancer. Is a 2 month dose of Ranitidine something to worry about?
Avatar f tn I'm 21 weeks and have been dealing with this for about a week, but I also have gerd along with it. I've been taking zofran(anti nausea) and ranitidine(acid reducer) to help.
Avatar f tn I too was prescribed zantac (Ranitidine) and I began taking them last week for nausea and was having light chest pain.( Less serious Zantac side effects may include:headache (may be severe);drowsiness, dizziness;sleep problems (insomnia);decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or swollen or tender breasts (in men);nausea, vomiting, stomach pain; or diarrhea or constipation so yes those are some of the side effects your having.
Avatar f tn Looking to get pointed in the right direction here. I have constant nausea (all day everyday). Stomach feels full of liquid all the time (I can hear it slushing around). Bloated feeling in stomach and intestines. Recurring tenderness in ascending colon area. Headaches and what seems to feel like dry or tired eyes. Had an abdominal ultrasound and results are a mild fatty liver. I have high cholesterol. Had upper endoscopy and diagnosed with gastritis but I don't get heartburn or sore throat.
Avatar m tn 1. anti-emetics (anti-nausea medication) such as Reglan, Cerenia, or equivalent; 2. appetite stimulants, such as Mirtazapine (Remeron), Cyproheptadine (Periactin), or equivalent; 3. steroids either given orally or by injection and IV fluid therapy; 4. antiparasitics and antibiotics should also be given, including Metronidazole or others. If your dog does not improve he may sadly have something very difficult or impossible to cure such as cancer.
Avatar m tn Half an hour later I was feeling horrible, I kept needing to go to the washroom and I felt nauseous. I got home without throwing up. For the next 2 days I was perfectly fine besides the minor constipation ( feeling like i need to go washroom but stool just won't come out). On Tuesday the 20th I felt horrible. I had bloating, nausea, poor appetite, constipation and I was burping a lot.
Avatar f tn i was feeling ok for a few months then suddenly i developed nausea a week ago and the doctor prescibed tinidizole with acidity tablets. i took for 3 days along with my homeopathy medicine but i still feel heaviness in my head when i lie down so im not able to sleep. kindly advice me what to do.
3082157 tn?1340912205 Thank you, to all of you. The vet has given me Cerenia for the nausea (to give her only when necessary) also Ranitidine Oral Solon, stimulates stomach acid secretion ranitidine blocks acid secretion in the stomach to provide a more favorable stomach pH. Hopefully get her eating. She has been eating a little, but very lethargic. She is quite bright in the morning and enjoying her walks though has slowed down. But tonight I am worried, I will ask the vet about Sub-Q fluids.
Avatar f tn About 6-8 months ago I started having a lot of nausea especially after eating, acid reflux taste in my mouth, and this has progressed to epigastric stomach pain as well. My GI doc has me on Omeprazole, Ranitidine, and Amitriptaline. I have tried natural supplements as well. Now I am back having more testing completed to see if this is reflux or something else. Can they do a 4th Nissen if it is reflux? Nervous about my options. Any info/help is appreciated Thanks!!
Avatar f tn The first few weeks I was on it I had a lot of cramping that felt like menstrual cramps, but for the past couple of weeks I've had a lot of nausea. I work at a grocery store and one day I had to run to the back because I thought I was going to throw up; I didn't and I was fine the next day. I've been doing pretty well since then but then in the past few days my whole abdomen has felt very cramped and tight.
Avatar n tn He says he feels like someone is pulling the skin in the back of his neck and the skin on the sides of his neck get tight and then he starts gagging. About a week ago he was on antibiotics for 10 days for sore throat and ear ache. But he had this episode last month also and hadnt been sick. He does suffer from allergies in the spring but nothing too bad. I have started him on the ranitidine just to say we tried. I did ask him if he was worried about anything or stressed. He says no.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering for almost two years with constant nausea. I have had several tests including blood, urine, ultrasound (abdomen) MRI scan (brain) and a H.Pylori breathe test all of which came back with normal results. I was diagnosed with GERD and given omeprazole which never really helped worked and now im trying ranitidine instead.
