Avatar f tn the reason why i did not take one more pill is that i believed cumulative plasma levels of raltegravir at day 22 May still exists in the circulation and thus i continued my regular dose just not to take second time double dose for raltegravir in case of i drank it through water. However i really do not remember and i also did not see any pills around. Thank you very much for your kind response.
Avatar f tn combining emtricitabine and tenofovir from the NRTI class, and raltegravir, from the integrase inhibitor class. There ARE alternative drugs available and possibly in Thailand they use lamivudine in place of raltegravir. I am definitely NOT a chemist, so I can't tell you for sure if the combination you're taking is appropriate. You should discuss your concerns with the doctor who prescribed PEP or a pharmacist/chemist. I wish you the best.
Avatar f tn So I've been on depo for 9.months now and got my renewal shot and antibiotics for 10 days on the same day, how long should I wait before having unprotected sex? How will they effect eachother????
Avatar f tn Swollen glands was a huge problem for me with Bartonella. For Barts I used Rifampin. I did ABX for two years and I am now on an herbal protocol. A common rash with Barts is when it looks like stretch marks.
Avatar m tn However, towards the end of the week I started having some urethral irritation again and fairly bad joint pain. I was having some stomach irritation and loose stool, and after consuming some lactose and fructose heavy food at a conference, my bloating returned and my IBS was worse than it was prior to the antibiotics. I then took a course of Cipro, 100 mg twice daily for a week. I also took Xifaxan simultaneously for the IBS 500 mg 3 times daily for 10 days.
Avatar f tn Yes, they have me on Rifampin along with my Lyme meds now for awhile, and I have been told to stay on it, yet I am still afraid for when the next one will hit, its like having babies all over again! And with this herxing from the Lyme meds to top it all off, I just cant seem to get ahead here....I have cut down my protein consumption, I've read that it helps keep the cysts from growing too fast.
Avatar f tn I see one of the side effects are lowed white blood cells and right now mine are 2.9. Idk why theyre so low. Prob the lyme..? I am not used to have a LOW white count..
Avatar m tn I am supposed to start taking rifampin once a day and bacterium 2x a day. I'm just wondering how to space it out. The bactrim I will take every 12 hours but wanted to know if I can take the rifampin at any time? Together with bacterium?
Avatar n tn I started PEP 2 hrs later (truvada, norvir, raltegravir, and preszita), my initial results are negative. I do not know the viral load of the patient yet, i can only pray that it is low. I know odds are 0.3% but that doesnt settle my fears, i am young and want to live a happy healthy life with KIDS! DR. please tell me if you have honstly heard of any cases like mine that have converted. I am in awe and feel like my life is totally over and ruined.
Avatar m tn He was on hydroxyzine and prednisone. Now the doctor has put him on rifampin, USO and ambition.
Avatar n tn I am relatively sure it did not break, but I cannot be 100% certain. Since then, he and I had talked (exchanged numbers), and he assured me he was HIV negative and had not had a partner since a negative test a few months prior. Due to my guilt and anxiety, I searched for PEP in Europe, which was IMPOSSIBLE. I eventually was able to obtain Truvada, which I started about 55hr after "exposure". I plan to take for the full 28 days.
6402846 tn?1391063748 Hey everyone. I've been posting on here for a couple months, got a positive Igenex lab last November. Been on doxy 100mg BD. I just saw a new LLMD yesterday who has a ton of experience, and wanted to get his take since I'm less than convinced that the doxy is doing it for me. This guy was amazing, really knew his stuff and a firm believer in antibiotics (not a quack!). Anyways, he diagnosed me with bartonella based on my symptoms since lab testing is unreliable.
Avatar f tn I asked the CSW if she knew her status and she said she was negative (I know that doesn’t mean anything and is almost discomforting because if she is she is most likely not on ARVs). Anyways I rushed to the hospital and was put on PEP at a maximum of 3 hours post exposure (truvada and raltegravir). I have taken the pills without missing any doses. At 3 weeks post exposure the lymph nodes in my neck swelled up slightly and I felt a tiny bit feverish.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking truvada and isentress (raltegravir) is this enough I couldn't get my prescription for dolutegravir filled...is this pep enough?
1846163 tn?1331048748 I am cures Ty on Vytorin and will be starting therapy soon, I have read that someone on a cholesterol lowering drug should not be on this drug. Can you tell me why?
4939681 tn?1361299299 Rifampin can be loved or hated. I can't take it and a friend was put on it a few weeks ago and stopped sleeping! (He went off Rifampin!) Other treatments for Bart are Cipro or Levaquin. Please read all the warnings about both of them before starting them.
Avatar f tn The antibiotic rifampin (also known as Rifadin and Rimactane) is the only exception — it can lower the effectiveness of the pill, patch, and ring." If you happened to take the rifampin that they mention, it's not the sex before your period that you should be concerned about, but sex in the subsequent month.
Avatar f tn For women being treated for the lung infection tuberculosis, the hardcore antibiotic commonly prescribed (rifampin or rifabutin) can interfere with the birth control pill. We have good evidence that rifampin messes with the pill and may also affect the patch and the ring. If you are taking rifampin, talk to your provider about your birth control options. Rifampin therapy generally lasts months (6-9), so a different contraceptive choice might make sense for you.
Avatar n tn Most commonly prescribed antibiotics will not interfere with the efficacy of hormonal birth control pills. One exception is rifampin, a drug used to treat tuberculosis.
Avatar n tn m confused on the prescriptions given to me I have a 7 day dose of raltegravir and dolutegravir...thought it was supposed to be 28 days?
Avatar n tn The only antibiotic that has ever been shown to interfere with birth control levels and effectiveness is a medicine called rifampin which is used to treat tuberculosis. Rifampin may also interfere with the birth control patch and vaginal ring so if you are taking it, be sure to use a back-up, non-hormonal (i.e. condom) form of birth control.
4451049 tn?1387153437 I know its the rifampin because one day I took 300 in the morning and 300 at night and it was much better. I am having a lot of pain and nausea. I don't detox well from the mutated MTHFR gene so mine could be much worse than your herx. I use to be on Zithromax and rifampin but Zithromax came out with a warning on irregular heartbeats. Since my dad died at 53 from a heart attack, my LLMD switched me to bactrum. A bad day for you could be your herxing.
4939681 tn?1361299299 I had Bartonella, too, but not many visible signs of it. I first took Azithromycin and Rifampin, but eventually figured out the Rifampin was causing heartburn and contributing to my chronic stomach pain. I was diagnosed with h.pylori and campylobater shortly after that, but even after they were treated, the stomach pain continued. After I switched from Rifampin to Levaquin, the stomach pain decreased and the heartburn went away.
