provigil

5509293 tn?1428531475 I have been taking nuvigil 250mg every morning since 2009. Now 2015 my insurance will not pay. My dr has send everything insurance ask for. So my dr put me on Modofinil 200mg 2 every morning I'm paying 299.99 for 30 pills because my insurance is saying its for people with sleep disorders or shift workers.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I found it very helpful to keep my eyes open, particularly as I was a shift worker, now its approved for shift workers and I am not a worker, can't win for losing but will ask neuro for some next fall when I come back. Usually in summer in cooler climate I am ok, plus too much to do!
Avatar f tn So far Provigil has mostly been beneficial for me . . . it usually gives me the energy and focus I need to get some things (but not all) done. But yesterday and today I just can't seem to focus on anything. It is SO frustrating . . . I think I have the energy to do things . . . but I don't know where to start . . . or I begin something only to be sidetracked to another.
Avatar n tn After my liver transplant for hepatitis c my transplant team prescribed Wellbutrin for me and for most of the patients I knew. I doubt very much that Wellbutrin would have been prescribed if it was injurious to the liver. I think it's OK.
Avatar f tn Some doctors will Rx a drug like Provigil that can increase focus and concentration; it’s used by shift workers and US Air force pilots to increase awareness and concentration at times. By the way, it’s amphetamine free. So many of the side effects can be ameliorated with intervention… especially interferon induced depression/anxiety.
789572 tn?1334424879 I’ve heard of HCV patients in treatment taking it for staying alert. I believe it’s labeled for shift workers (also fighter pilots), among other things. I know what you mean about fatigue; I was trying to work pre-treatment, and ended up napping in the cab of my truck some days. I hope you find something to help you out soon; are you in Anchortown?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Provigil for about 3 yrs. I also take meds before bed to help w/ sleep. I take 200mg of Provigil every morning. I feel that w/o it, I would sleep 24/7. When I have run out of it, I have slept very extended periods of time. I don't think I could do w/o it. My dr. got provigil preauthorized w/ my insurance by stating that I had FMS and sleep apnea. With the two conditions combined, they approved it.
Avatar m tn I've been on provigil for a year and a half now- as needed (my job requires shift work). I also take pristiq for anxiety in which I've had for many years. In the last six months I've been dealing with w lot of troubling events that have taken a toll on me, my emotions, my stress level. In the last month or so I've noticed that I get really bad anxiety/nervousness about ten minutes after taking my provigil. It never used to do that before.
398059 tn?1447945633 I had been on Provigil for several years. The only bothersome side effect I got was lower back pain. I suffered through a morning hunched over back routine for probably a year before I read the side affects list on the provigil site. I was on the maximum dose 200 mg twice a day. I started taking a lower dose hoping that would help. I had switched perscription drug plams in Janruary.
Avatar f tn I am also dizzy 24/7 and have been for 6 yrs. I take provigil for the fatigue. Its expensive but one of safer drugs, it is not narcotic either. And it works for me, i was given adderall but it didnt seem to work at all for my fatigue. Plus it is narcotic and addicting. I was recently in a drug rehab recently to get off of methodone that my dr had given me for pain, a long story...they also took away my sleeping pill.
1207048 tn?1282174304 Provigil works for me but my insurance won't cover it, since they don't yet accept it for MS
Avatar f tn Morning erections are not a sign of anything. Mostly we get them when we're young and then we don't get them much anymore, although obviously people do differ. So don't worry about those, they're irrelevant. But yeah, if you're tired all the time, you might have trouble doing all sorts of things, and erections might be one of them, although there's certainly no guarantee this is so.
Avatar m tn I have no problems with someone seeking clonidine, a benzo short term, or even provigil for withdrawal symptoms...but my friend, get a legit script for them...get only a couple weeks worth, and take as prescribed. Trust me, getting through the withdrawals is the easy part of this.
Avatar f tn I have taken both Provigil and Nuvigil. The neuro that treats my sleep apnea prescribed Provigil for me several years ago before I was diagnosed with MS. They are expensive meds but do more than any other drug I take to noticably improve my daily life. I'd give up many other things to continue to afford either one. Neither drug gets rid of my fatigue or boosts my energy (wish they did). What they do is help to keep me awake and alert during the day.
Avatar f tn I remember that you have fibro as well as ms, and probably other things. What is your take on asking my dr about Provigil for the extreme fatigue of my fibro? I ended up taking a 3 1/2hr "nap" today. And will have no trouble sleeping tonight.A lot of the posts here mention taking it to help with their fatigue, just wondering if it would help fibro fatigue. Hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend!
Avatar m tn It is also prescribed for extreme fatigue, but if it is not prescribed for the 3 things that the FDA has given approval for, insurance will not approve it. I took Provigil for about a year, I was on suboxone at the time, which can cause excessive sleepyness, but it was more than that. In the end, I was tested for sleep apnea and ended up being diagnosed with RLS, which can cause the same symptoms. The provigil worked great, but like Eagle said, it is very expensive.
Avatar f tn After getting the run around for months, my insurance company has now denied payment for Provigil. They refuse because using Provigil for MS fatigue is an "off the label" use for the medication. Any advice???
1807779 tn?1333840302 hi Daisy. I take the generic form of Provigil and some days I don't take it and I pay for it later in the day with the tiredness settling in. I know it is not addictive/habit forming, but I hate taking all these pills and that is one I can skip at times. Have you asked your doctor about this? As always, please don't take my comments as medical advice because everyone's situation is different.
1710955 tn?1309446473 Are there any other meds for fatigue besides provigil? The reason I ask is because for the drug interactions for provigil says don't take if you're on beta blockers or amitriptline (sp). Which of course I'm on both. Thanks for any suggestions in advance. I see my pcp on Wednesday, and I want to be ahead of the game!
Avatar f tn The neuro that treats my sleep apnea prescribed Provigil for me before I was diagnosed with MS. At that time, I was slapping myself to stay awake while driving and thinking was a slow difficult process that felt like I was wading through chest high mud to find a match to light my fire. Life as me and near me was unpleasant and unsafe. I have taken both Provigil and Nuvigil over the past three years.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Provigil for the extreme fatigue of fibro? It is not one of the conditions listed for it's use. But if it helps with extreme fatigue in other conditions, why wouldn't it help in fibro. Thinking about asking my PCP about it next time I'm in to see him.
1394098 tn?1385960134 So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.
Avatar m tn http://fatiguemanagementblog.wordpress.com/ so we could share experiences. Would be great to hear from anyone on how they manage their fatigue from varying shifts.
Avatar f tn Medicine is what I meant to say! I'm getting used to typing on an iPad...it fills in words that I don't want sometimes...
198419 tn?1360242356 m also considering trying samples of that med to help w/ fatigue... Provigil? Do you guys know if it can be taken PRN? Or, is it a everyday med in order for it to work? Ok, well gotta go to work... I work a 12 hr shift today... YUCK! But I have tomorrow off. Everyday worked helps pay for the insurance to pay for the med... so no complaining really. Have an AWESOME DAY!
