provigil

Avatar f tn I talked to my main dr about, that sleepy all the time. I have fibro, myositis and arthritis. He listed it as work shift disorder. He didn't want to raise any flags for driver lisc.. I've been on Nuvigil 150mg for a month, I have notice a dramatic dif, with no side effect..I seems to help me sleep better at night and also with my pain level. I considering asking to try to generic for providing next because of the cost. The nuvigil was 700.00 hundred. Makes my co pay 180.00.
1088527 tn?1425313375 If a person doesn't really work off hour shifts, their doctor might not be willing to code anything that way. Besides, scripts aren't normally coded the way office visits are. False coding can be considered insurance fraud. At the very least, an insurer could demand reimbursement upon discovery of intentional miscoding. I suspect such practices will be easier to track as e-prescribing becomes standard practice and user knowledge expands.
5509293 tn?1428531475 I have been taking nuvigil 250mg every morning since 2009. Now 2015 my insurance will not pay. My dr has send everything insurance ask for. So my dr put me on Modofinil 200mg 2 every morning I'm paying 299.99 for 30 pills because my insurance is saying its for people with sleep disorders or shift workers.
Avatar m tn I've been on provigil for a year and a half now- as needed (my job requires shift work). I also take pristiq for anxiety in which I've had for many years. In the last six months I've been dealing with w lot of troubling events that have taken a toll on me, my emotions, my stress level. In the last month or so I've noticed that I get really bad anxiety/nervousness about ten minutes after taking my provigil. It never used to do that before.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear it was so hard for you and didn't work out. I know its tough even as a single person or without kids, been doing it for years and it is easy to get depressed. Worried about how hard it will be with a baby. Pondering quitting when maternity leave is over, but I would hate to quit my job and lose all the tenure and benefits and time I've put in over the years. No first shift jobs opening up though, I kept hoping one would.
1207048 tn?1282174304 Bottom line - there are various drugs out there to combat fatigue. What works for one may not work for another. Keep trying until you find something that works for you.
Avatar f tn I have taken both Provigil and Nuvigil. The neuro that treats my sleep apnea prescribed Provigil for me several years ago before I was diagnosed with MS. They are expensive meds but do more than any other drug I take to noticably improve my daily life. I'd give up many other things to continue to afford either one. Neither drug gets rid of my fatigue or boosts my energy (wish they did). What they do is help to keep me awake and alert during the day.
1140169 tn?1370185076 I also take it. (Generic Provigil) When I first started it I was pretty sick the first week, but I was fine after that. It has definitely make life a a lot easier for me. I am now up to 200mg/day. I hope that it keeps working but I am not sure that I could function without it. I am preparing for life as a single mom and I have to work full time. I can't miss work or have my work suffer due to fatigue. I still get fatigued, but it's milder than it used to be.
Avatar f tn The neuro that treats my sleep apnea prescribed Provigil for me before I was diagnosed with MS. At that time, I was slapping myself to stay awake while driving and thinking was a slow difficult process that felt like I was wading through chest high mud to find a match to light my fire. Life as me and near me was unpleasant and unsafe. I have taken both Provigil and Nuvigil over the past three years.
Avatar f tn After getting the run around for months, my insurance company has now denied payment for Provigil. They refuse because using Provigil for MS fatigue is an "off the label" use for the medication. Any advice???
Avatar m tn Hi Sid, Your GP can prescribe this, but this medication is indicated for work shift disorder, and excessive daytime sleepyness associated with Obstructive sleep apnea. It is also prescribed for extreme fatigue, but if it is not prescribed for the 3 things that the FDA has given approval for, insurance will not approve it. I took Provigil for about a year, I was on suboxone at the time, which can cause excessive sleepyness, but it was more than that.
Avatar f tn I've taken both Provigil and Adderall to help with the bad fatigue I get. I like Provigil a lot more than Adderall. It seems to have less severe side-effects for me. The only problem is that it causes my Irritable Bowel Syndrome to get out of control. So frustrating! Other than that, I would really recommend it. Best of luck to you, I hate the fatigue of this illness.
Avatar f tn Provigil is being used off-label for many things now. Whether your PCP would prescribe it is up to his confidence level. You could certainly show him this thread and request a trial of it. It is approved for the fatigue of narcolepsy, of "shift-work" fatigue, and of obstructive sleep apnea. It is being used commonly off-label for the fatigue of CFS, MS, Fibromyalgia, and for the mental focusing needed in Adult ADD and probably for many other things. It was the first thing Dr.
1394098 tn?1385960134 So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.
Avatar f tn This medicine did not work for me, but I would not give up on this mediocre just yet. It took me a week to see benefits of the medicine that actually worked-- Provigil. I now take the generic form of Provigil.
1710955 tn?1309446473 Are there any other meds for fatigue besides provigil? The reason I ask is because for the drug interactions for provigil says don't take if you're on beta blockers or amitriptline (sp). Which of course I'm on both. Thanks for any suggestions in advance. I see my pcp on Wednesday, and I want to be ahead of the game!
Avatar f tn Obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and shift work sleep disorder. Of course, MSers, among others, have been using Provigil with great results even though they are not an officially approved group for its use.
789572 tn?1334424879 I see; I hope things work out for you soon. I worked in Anchorage for a year or so in 2001; I was in town when nine-eleven occurred. The jets scrambled out of Elmendorf and screamed all over downtown… what a sight! Discuss Provigil with the doc; you might also ask them about some of the ADD/ADHD drugs too; I don’t know how they view the use of these drugs with HCV, though. I remember seeing your moniker here for years; I achieved SVR this January, but still stop in now and then.
Avatar f tn i am a 23 year female that has recently started to eat more healthier and exercise more but i am finding my work shift patterns hard to deal with. some days i will work 2-9 where i usually eat lunch before i go, have a break where i will have a sandwich or fruit but when i get home (usually later than 9) i am staving and need to eat something else.
Avatar n tn Hubby is starting a new Job today ! Only prob is it's night shift and I have to drive him 20 miles from where we live and stay there till he's out :/ boo . Any ways of keeping myself entertained ?
Avatar f tn so my bf is thinking of changing his work shift from morning and starting the evening shift that is from 4pm till midnight, now when my baby arrived i will be continuing university and will leave the house from 6am to at least 2pm or even 3pm leaving us bearly seeing each other. i dont want him to change the shift but hes saying he will be earning more money and that way he can do a part time in the morning since i will not be having any income.
5160872 tn?1385248794 I just started Nuvigil (armodafinil) about 2 weeks ago which is basically the same thing as Provigil (modafinil). The first 5 days it was great. I could drive to/from work without falling asleep, I could sleep a normal 8 hours instead of 12 (that's still left me feeling exhausted), I probably got more work done in those 5 days than I do all month lol! BUT now I feel nothing. For several days I thought I forgot to take it because I was getting sleepy come noon time.
470613 tn?1207312671 My doc dont seem to care just says i gotta get on with it, I did one extra small shift this week, and last night it caught up with me, I couldnt go to work today, I cant tell work that its fatigue cos they really wouldnt understand, they know I have ms but they dont understand that either. Thanks for ur comment I hope u can get some sleep before u make urself go crazy.
Avatar m tn Although some addicts are known to abuse anything they touch...I did not abuse provigil. I had to work and used it for quite a while after I stopped. Best to talk to ur doctor...
