My doctor thinks I may have FM or CFS. I am having a test for sleep apnea tonight. I have been prescribed Provigil for the fatigue. My question is this..When you feel 'fatigued' does it affect your mind as well as your body? I know that some of you say your head is 'in a fog'. My head is almost always clear. It seems to be my body that is extremely weak and fatigued; also all of my mucles ache(almost feels as if the bones hurt) all over my body, especially my legs.
fatigue, and of obstructive sleep apnea. It is being used commonly off-label for the fatigue of CFS, MS, Fibromyalgia, and for the mental focusing needed in Adult ADD and probably for many other things.
It was the first thing Dr. M wrote for me, before he officially told me of the diagnosis of MS. It is a miracle for me, even at half-dose which I sometimes take.
It has little potential for addiction and is a lot safer than many other things used for fatigue.
So far Provigil has mostly been beneficial for me . . . it usually gives me the energy and focus I need to get some things (but not all) done.
But yesterday and today I just can't seem to focus on anything. It is SO frustrating . . . I think I have the energy to do things . . . but I don't know where to start . . . or I begin something only to be sidetracked to another.
After getting the run around for months, my insurance company has now denied payment for Provigil. They refuse because using Provigil for MS fatigue is an "off the label" use for the medication. Any advice???

along with contstant muscle fatigue. I see a rheumotologist for my fibromyalgia.. who says these are all symptoms of Fibro.. He has prescribed provigil, plaquinil, voltaren and just recently lyrica. They seem to help take the edge off ... I hope this helps you!
For all practical purposes I have been bed ridden for the past 2 months. That is when he suggested Provigil. I have not heard of this on the forum. Anybody know anything as it relates to Hepc tx? Of course I have googled it. He made me another appointment in 4 weeks(a miracle in itself!) to see how it was working and talk more of 24 week treatment.Any comments welcome.
I was in an accident, I currently have a metal plate, screws, & cadaver bone in my neck, operation 4 yrs ago, I have Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Restless leg syndrome, & depression. I have been on Oxycontin 20 mg 2 x day & Endocet for breakthru pain when needed, Provigil 200 mg 2 x day, Prozac 40 mgs which is on Walmarts 4 dollar plan.
kristens lupus doctor prescribed her provigil for the constant fatigue being that it is the most debilitating of all her symtoms minus the depression and anxiety which is becoing controlled with the treatent facility that she is in. i read a lot about it and it said that it was much less likely for it to be addictive. also, it doesnt work from the nervous system so it wont make her really jittery.
although they have tested a new drug for cocaine addiction, it has not been approved by the fda yet. i used for coke for 5 years very heavily and went c/t as the physical w/d's from coke are so minimul, but it is the mental part that is devastaing. have you tried n/a meetings, counselling. quitting this drug is a devil to quit and as of now, there is now pill that will help as i know of.
I tried Provigil last summer with high hopes, after wrangling my insurer over it--it's expensive.
Alas, it didn't do diddley for me. Maybe Ampyra will help me. I'm exhausted all the time.
I take Amitriptyline 20 mg at night to get good REM sleep - and I take Provigil 200 mg every morning for fatigue. Once I started taking the Provigil I instantly had a lot more energy and I realized that I really didn't have any depression (I was frustrated and saddened by the fact that I was always too tired to do things I wanted or to get things done.
