Common Questions and Answers about Provigil fibromyalgia

provigil

Avatar f tn My doctor thinks I may have FM or CFS. I am having a test for sleep apnea tonight. I have been prescribed Provigil for the fatigue. My question is this..When you feel 'fatigued' does it affect your mind as well as your body? I know that some of you say your head is 'in a fog'. My head is almost always clear. It seems to be my body that is extremely weak and fatigued; also all of my mucles ache(almost feels as if the bones hurt) all over my body, especially my legs.
797195 tn?1240579823 I even feel the effects of the Provigil the next day (though not nearly as strong). Actually the Provigil fades out about 8 hours after I take it, but I sure do sleep well that night! The next day, I have slightly more energy than usual. I love Provigil, but, due to the chest fullness, can't use it very often so that is why I was considering Adderall (I'm also ADD). In your opinion, how did the Adderall compare to the Provigil in terms of fatigue reduction?
765921 tn?1240405239 t think I have MS (hes a MS specialist) but that he really thinks I have fibromyalgia because of all of my pain and all of the other symptoms I have and since I had a normal MRI but also a doctor in the past had mentioned fibro, he said it was more of a possibility. He wrote me a consult for a rhumatologist, and gave me a lab slip for my blood work. I am so happy.
3191241 tn?1345032381 I was just diagnosed tuesday with fibromyalgia. I still have my appt set up for Dec to see an MS specialist b/c my neurologist reccomended me to both. Is urination hesitation a common symptom? this is what makes me think i might have something more wrong. i have a bad memory but if i remember correctly i thought this usually happens with MS patients.
Avatar f tn What exactly are cymbalta and lyrica? Aren't they anti-depressants? How do they help with the pain? Do they help with chronic fatigue as well? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, and the aches and pains(especially legs from my thighs to my ankels) are leading the doctor to think fibromyalgia. I was just wondering about these meds because I NEED some relief and I've heard many mentions of these meds. Can they be taken with provigil?
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
398059 tn?1447945633 My dx is Fibromyalgia - but along with my extreme fatigue and pain I have a lot symptoms similar to MS - thus I lurke here and have learned a lot from you all! I was prescribed PROVIGIL for my fatigue and it works GREAT for me! Not only do I have more ENERGY, but it helps me to MULTI-TASK , THINK CLEARLY and really GET THINGS DONE - well, at least a moderate amount of things, given I have a chronic illness.
Avatar n tn I feel as though it is nerve related and have wondered if just maybe it is Fibromyalgia. I am not exactly sure what type of Physician Specialist to see, but the pain is getting worse not better. Can you please offer me an opinion and a starting point? I just don't know how much more pain I can take. Thank you very much for your time!
Avatar f tn So far Provigil has mostly been beneficial for me . . . it usually gives me the energy and focus I need to get some things (but not all) done. But yesterday and today I just can't seem to focus on anything. It is SO frustrating . . . I think I have the energy to do things . . . but I don't know where to start . . . or I begin something only to be sidetracked to another.
572651 tn?1530999357 I work for an insurance company and also had trouble getting it approved, largely b/c of how much the med costs the insurance company. Because of the cost, the company has a medical policy for which conditions the med can be approved for based on best practices guidelines set forth by FDA and medical community. Even for those conditions it cannot be first line treatment. In appeal, MD had to outline that other first line meds were tried first without success.
Avatar f tn I was in an accident, I currently have a metal plate, screws, & cadaver bone in my neck, operation 4 yrs ago, I have Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Restless leg syndrome, & depression. I have been on Oxycontin 20 mg 2 x day & Endocet for breakthru pain when needed, Provigil 200 mg 2 x day, Prozac 40 mgs which is on Walmarts 4 dollar plan.
Avatar n tn hey guys. has anyone ever heard of,or taken provigil? kristens lupus doctor prescribed her provigil for the constant fatigue being that it is the most debilitating of all her symtoms minus the depression and anxiety which is becoing controlled with the treatent facility that she is in. i read a lot about it and it said that it was much less likely for it to be addictive. also, it doesnt work from the nervous system so it wont make her really jittery.
Avatar f tn Hi! Was wondering if anyone can tell me how one tells/is diagnosed with fibromyalgia vs. chronic fatigue syndrome. I was diagnosed with FMS 17 years ago when pain was my primary symptom and I do have the trigger point pain along with most of the other FMS symptoms. But the majority of the time for many years now fatigue has been a bigger, or at least more frequent, issue. My doctor started me on Provigil in January, which has helped some but one dose a day doesn't seem to be enough.
Avatar n tn I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
5509293 tn?1428531475 This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.
401095 tn?1351391770 Is anyone familiar with the drug provigil or monafinil for enery and depression...? It is a drug for narcolepsy....wakes me up but not sure about use during tapering tabs...
390916 tn?1204840470 Has anyone tried ProVigil? My sleep specialist suggested that I try it for the deep tiredness that I experience, even after getting great help with sleep from my CPAP machine. By the way, my trip to Seattle went very well. Though it is indeed very hilly, the cooler weather and low humidity made it easier to get around than here is muggy Baltimore. The weather seems to have a huge impact on this disease.
518001 tn?1212419235 Is anyone taking Provigil? Has it helped you? What does it help? Do you have any side effects from it? I'm going to try it, after I get my results back from my next set of MRIs. Does it make the tremors worse? Thank you!
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
565254 tn?1224716453 I am currently taking provigil for my fatigue. The pharmacy had to order it so I was out for a few days. During those days I have been headache free. It seems that my headache has come back since I started taking it again. It isn't as bad as a normal one but it is enough to be irritating. I am curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue and if so did it go away after a while. It has really helped the fatigue but I would hate to think that the daily headaches are back.
Avatar f tn s been an issue with me for more than 10 years, but the last 2 months I was really bad and just being awake for more than 5 hours wore me out. He prescribed Provigil and I've read some of the threads on it and it sounds very promising. My question is, is it something you can take daily indefinitely? Or are you supposed to just take it when you need it (which would be daily for me!) I hope my insurance will cover it because I'm not diagnosed with ms or anything.
Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
619930 tn?1260374254 I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. I'm wondering if this will really help or possibily aggravate my dizziness from stairs and mild exertion.
