Provigil for cancer fatigue

Common Questions and Answers about Provigil for cancer fatigue

provigil

1710955 tn?1309446473 Are there any other meds for fatigue besides provigil? The reason I ask is because for the drug interactions for provigil says don't take if you're on beta blockers or amitriptline (sp). Which of course I'm on both. Thanks for any suggestions in advance. I see my pcp on Wednesday, and I want to be ahead of the game!
Avatar f tn I am taking amantadie for fatigue just started 3 days ago and it is actually making me tired... anyone with any suggestions??
Avatar m tn For all practical purposes I have been bed ridden for the past 2 months. That is when he suggested Provigil. I have not heard of this on the forum. Anybody know anything as it relates to Hepc tx? Of course I have googled it. He made me another appointment in 4 weeks(a miracle in itself!) to see how it was working and talk more of 24 week treatment.Any comments welcome.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Provigil for the extreme fatigue of fibro? It is not one of the conditions listed for it's use. But if it helps with extreme fatigue in other conditions, why wouldn't it help in fibro. Thinking about asking my PCP about it next time I'm in to see him.
968560 tn?1307451498 My Dr. just recommended Provigil for my fatigue and brain issues. It sounds like an upper to me, but without the edginess of Ritalin...like Bill says used by pilots duing the Iraqi wars...also people with narcolepsy and MS patients with fatigue, amongst others. I read on the MS forum that many members use and recommend it. I'm still waiting on a prior auth and trying to make up my mind about it. Right now...today....I feel really good, so I don't know that it's warranted.
Avatar f tn re being hit inthe prime time of the day for fatigue - 3 pm is the worst for me. A few things I find that can help iare diet- eat some protein at midday - even a spoon of peanut butter helps. Gentle exercise can also help with the fatigue for some people. Give it a try and see if you are one of those lucky ones.
Avatar f tn I take provigil for my fatigue. It helps me to be able to get through the day without feeling like I could just close my eyes and sleep. If you feel you need it then push the issue, or talk with your family doctor about maybe getting it. If you push the issue then your neuro should see that you really need it. I hope your neuro or the nurse calls you back soon with some good news for you.
Avatar f tn ve experienced in terms of severe fatigue, muscles feeling like jello, dizzy, etc. The NP wrote me a prescription for Wellbutrin, saying it would help with fatigue. I was already on Lexapro for depression long before I started treatment, and I upped my Lexapro dose at week 2. The Lexapro is working nicely at this point, and I am not depressed.
Avatar f tn I am also dizzy 24/7 and have been for 6 yrs. I take provigil for the fatigue. Its expensive but one of safer drugs, it is not narcotic either. And it works for me, i was given adderall but it didnt seem to work at all for my fatigue. Plus it is narcotic and addicting. I was recently in a drug rehab recently to get off of methodone that my dr had given me for pain, a long story...they also took away my sleeping pill.
572651 tn?1530999357 I have been fighting Blue Cross since January 2011. I have MS and suffer severe fatigue. I've been taking Provigil for about 4 1/2 years and it was covered by Blue Cross. I was notified in Nov 2010 that BC would no longer cover this drug for an MS diagnosis. My Neurologist appealed the Provigil denial 3 times and BC would still not cover it. She then tried to prescribe Nuvigil again BC denied and she appealed that 3 times.
8398640 tn?1398042546 My neurologist prescribed me Adderall for fatigue. Has anyone else been prescribed this/has it helped? Thanks!
572735 tn?1217201019 anything else i can take for my fatigue other than provigil? it gave me migraines! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!I'm tired of Being tired! And sick of being Sick!!!!
1627868 tn?1333886342 I have also seen some of the ADHD drugs helpful for fatigue. Ritalin, for instance. This is by prescription, as well. That's all that I can think of at the moment. Maybe some other members can throw in other ideas. No supplements or OTC meds come to my mind for fatigue, either. Welcome to our forum. I am sorry you are experiencing fatigue. It truly can be quite debilitating. I hope this helps and good luck with your neuro visit.
Avatar f tn I've been using Provigil for years, 600 mgs./day, for chronic fatigue related to myotonic dystrophy. My neurologist suggested I try Nuvigili and gave me a month's worth. What a difference!! I stayed awake with the Provigil but still felt tired and sluggish. With the Nuvigil I am alert, more upbeat, and more even throughout the day. Medicare won't cover it, so my doctor is working on a prior authorization. I can't bear the thought of going back to Provigil.
1142551 tn?1264736930 I have been prescribed Provigil for my fatigue and my insurance (state assistance) will not cover the cost. I asked the pharmacy how much it would be just to buy it and he said it cost 500.00 monthly. My question is if anyone knows of a prescription assistance program or an online pharmacy that I can get this medication for a cheaper price.
789572 tn?1334424879 Provigil did it for me. 200 mg daily or when I need it (I don't need it everyday.) Hep C + for over 30 years, last biopsy 2003, under care of hepatologist, tried tx in 2004, waiting until VX-950 is available. Labs are stable.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to our little MS community, Basically from my understanding, fatigue is quite non specific as a symptom, there are just so many conditions associated with fatigue. There are different types of fatigue, different ways of describing it, under and over reporting etc Fatigue can be either physiological or psychological or a combination of both, and on top of that, there are many medications where fatigue is a known side effect.
Avatar m tn Its very bad fatigue. I get tired right away for doing anything. Is there anything that I can take for the fatigue. Right now I'm not taking anything.
Avatar m tn i was told today the VA no longer will Rx provigil for MS fatigue. have to have a sleep disorder and get it from pulmonary now. they will, for MS patient fatigue Rx amantadine. i have battled MS fatigue for years and recently decided to try something for it, so the VA is Rx amantadine vs provigil. anyone on this list try amantadine for MS fatigue? just checking with the experts here (actual suffers). i thought provigil was what i needed.
