provigil and pristiq

I've been on provigil for a year and a half now- as needed (my job requires shift work). I also take pristiq for anxiety in which I've had for many years. In the last six months I've been dealing with w lot of troubling events that have taken a toll on me, my emotions, my stress level. In the last month or so I've noticed that I get really bad anxiety/nervousness about ten minutes after taking my provigil. It never used to do that before.

I am a 52 year old female. Post menopause and on hormones. Just hot my thyroid levels at a good level. I switched from pristiq to cymbalta back in November. I am tired ALL the time. More than when my thyroid was out of whack. Could the cymbalta be causing this and if so, what if I took it at night?

Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.

I will only add one thing to Ryan's otherwise very good post. People do have different reactions to different drugs, even to Celexa and Lexapro or Pristiq and Effexor. While it's true the companies are trying to keep a patented product in their lineup, Lexapro seems to have fewer side effects than Celexa, but many people do find one or the other works better. Same probably with Pristiq and Effexor. But to prescribe both at once is insane.

I called the pdoc back and he's having me take a 75 effexor xr and my pristiq 50---I guess a ween off of it, no more brain zaps for now, I dont know what will happen after I stop taking effexor all together, we shall see in a few weeks. As for the comment above, I too have seen people have to pay out of pocket for perscriptions and its usually elderly and people like me, who had been laid off and take medications and are put into a situation of having to pay out of pocket, what to do?

I really dont feel depressed at all,I feel ok when i had my clonazepan dosage,but what if I become an addict, how can I start taking pristiq and not being scared? Like I said above , i feel more anxious and panic than depressed. So Pristiq will work with my anxiety? What about Clonazepan withdrawals?

I take lithium Wellbutrin pristiq and clomping. I am going through menopause. I take about 6 six 7.5 hydros a day. I have taken the meds for 20 years, but the hydros about 2 years. Lately I have become morbidly depressed, and I need to know if you guys think its the hydros. Sometimes I do take more, but never more than 10 hydros.

When I take Savella and Pristiq together, it works wonders. When both my pain dr and my psychiatrist got together and said I couldn't take them together, I became very depressed after getting off of Savella. I didn't want to kill myself, but I sure didn't want to live. Lyrica put me to sleep in horrible ways, Cymbalta doesn't work for me and anything like Prozac or Lexapro or Zoloft is candy to me. I also take Norco.

I just started Pristiq and Im also on ativan and abilify............wondering if anyone else has taken these meds together.I felt great after taking the pill last night now today im kinda scared and spacey feeling...any thoughts?

The medications I have used are provigil and adderall, and I don't take them every day, so tracking them would be helpful. (I currently take provigil.) Tracking the degree of sleepiness is also helpful, since I am sleepy almost every day and a yes/no doesn't do much. Others with narcolepsy might benefit from tracking sleep paralysis but fortunately I don't have that problem. That being said, I really like all the trackers here.

Pristiq and Effexor are essentially the same medication, so the switch should be relatively easy, and save you some money, too. I'm not sure I understand the switch, because Pristiq is the new Effexor, so if it isn't for financial reasons, kind of hard to see the point of going through it. Certainly some people have different reactions to them, and so just because Pristiq works also doesn't guarantee Effexor will work, and it might work better, who knows.

I'm a bit surprised your doc didn't give the pristiq a bit more time to work, but he no doubt had reason for doing so. Remember, you are 'coming down' from a period of 'high anxiety' so you naturally will feel the way you do. Also the medication is getting into your system and more often then not symptoms like you are now having will taper off and go away shortly. if they get too severe then call the doc right away.

My mom's taking Pristiq and she feels that it has fewer negative side effects and does a better job controlling the depression than Cymbalta and Lexapro.

Anybody know if there is any problems taking tramadol and provigil together?

m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.

I do use OTC sleep aids like you said and i think for now i will continue, i have some ambien, but i will keep it to use when i need it, since i had to beg for it. I dont want to use it all the time anyway. And i use 200 mg of provigil now, and i sometimes i could use a bit more. But i try to stick with 200 mg.

m taking 50mg pristiq and 75 mg effexor daily for 7 days, and then 50mg pristiq and 37.5mg effexor for the next 7 days. My therapist has suggested this dosing to make the transition gradual. I was just curious as to anyone elses experience with such a change, good or bad.

I had a horrible experience with Pristiq. I would suggest that if you do decide to take it that you become aware of all the possible side effects and if you begin to have any side effects, contact your doctor right away. I took Pristiq for about 3 1/2 weeks. My doctor did not warn me of possible side effects and I didn't read about possible side effects early on. At first, I didn't notice anything unusual. I actually thought the drug might be helping a little.

n pristiq before bed...I suddenly stopped taking pristiq cuz I ran out n my phyciatrist doc office was closed..its beeen 2days now that I haven't taken pristiq..my head hurts bad it feels soar n my neck n ears hurt n eyes a bit..I also have a soar throat..could this b cuz im just stressing n stressing or because I stopped my medication pristiq?? I would like help plzz..im scared..

I am also taking Pristiq. Wonder if that has anything to do with it? Anyone else taking Pristiq and Topamax? Had the same issues? Would love to know.

I am taking Pristiq and not sure if it helps or not. I was taking Eflexor 225 mg daily and this pristiq is only 50 mg. The withdrawal from Eflexor was terrible. Had nightmares and felt like I was fading away while trying to fall asleep. What does low magnesium have to do with depression? Never heard of that before. Can you get this over the counter?

I have been taking the pristiq now for over 3 months, and this is the newest add to my list (klonipin next newest at a little over 4 months -- the rest have been years.) I have just recently started getting these odd shocky type feelings through my arms, legs, sides, neck ... I really don't know how to describe tem, it's not quite electrical, but it's a good analogy. sometimes it almost just feels as if I can physically feel my blood moving through my veins.

Hi everyone I went to my doctor and she took me off the zoloft and put me on pristiq to help with my panic and anxiety. Has it helped anyone? Also she told me to not taper off the zoloft and it's safe to just start the pristiq.

So I cold turkey stopped taking it again and I am now on my 3rd day of no Pristiq. This is the WORST feeling I have ever experienced in my life!!! I am having headaches that are continuous all day long, dizziness so bad that it keeps me from getting out of my bed, everytime I turn my head left or right it feels like I am hitting my head against the wall. I can even hear myself "blinking my eyes". Nausea is starting to set in now making me afraid to eat anything.

m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?

t cope with everyday activities still. So we switched to Pristiq-Remeron and I have had severe lows and break through in the moods with the Pristiq. So he today added Abilify to the mix and I hope it is magical ! Good luck with the medication combos. It is very common to have to combine a few to get the results you are looking for.

I just recently got on Pristiq 50mg and have had a migraine everyday since. (10days). I initially started with 25mg and did not get any migraines. For about 10 years, I was on Zoloft and had about 8-12 migraine days a month. I got off it last year and my migraines went down to 1-3 a month. I had no idea the Zoloft was the cause until I discontinued it. Unfortunately my panic started coming back and I really need the antidepressant.

My doctor put me on pristiq and I am afraid to take it. I took Zoloft while pregnant and stopped about a month after my daughter was born. I felt good then. Then my gp put me on Lexapro and that zonked me out. Back to Zoloft again. I feel just like the depression commercials describe. I hate it. I just would like to know if anyone has been taking it and how you feel on it.
