Avatar f tn If I need quick short bursts of energy I take Ritalin if I need to stay awake and alert all day I take Provigil. Provigil is safe and it really works wonders. I think in the U.K. in generic so much cheaper there than in the US. You may want to ask about it since those drinks are full of stuff out bodies don't really need. I smoke so I'm not preaching what to do or not to do just a suggestion that works for me.
765921 tn?1240405239 I am just concerned about treatment now, my fatigue is probably my most bothersome symptom, I have deal with the pain all the time, but the fatigue affects my family, and I have bipolar disorder and am concerned about the drugs they use for the fatigue portion. The neuro wants to give me samples of Provigil, but I am not sure how that will affect my mood. Also, I am concerned about Lyrica, which was another drug he mentioned, but said it could make my fatigue worse.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed as Bipolar NOS since 2001. Since then, I have been treated with over 24 different medications and combinations of those meds. I received sober living home treatment in 2004 and have been clean and sober since then. I then received inpatient treatment for Bulimia in 2008 and have been in remission from purging (though still restrict and overeat sometimes) since then.
Avatar f tn Ugh! I've been on provigil for the last couple of months, and have felt better than I have in a year and a half. Then, I realize that getting up at 4:30 in the morning is NOT a norm for me. I stopped the provigil for a couple of days and BAM!, I feel awful again. Now I'm wondering, have I been manic(I am bi-polar)? Is this just the chronic fatigue again? My BP goes up when I'm on the provigil and I don't even take my midodrine.
Avatar f tn Perhaps you can research Provigil and see if that may be an option for you, I know it has helped me tremendously. Good luck!
Avatar m tn I would like to warn you, I was getting all these symptoms being the sole caregiver of my parents, mom with a stroke, and dad with a blend of Alzheimer's, Bipolar, and Senile Dementia. I was there several years before my doctor did give me provigil. The thing is, I wished I would have known that what I had was caregiver burnout, and I didn't need more energy to use up to get a longer period of burnout, I needed someone to help me.
Avatar f tn I read that Its 50/50. Depends though, I know ppl that are bipolar and have three kids, one has mood disorder. I'm bipolar, so is my husband and were having a baby in Nov. So I'm curious to see how this will work out. Either way what better people to help a child or someone deal with it then someone who actually has it themselves.
Avatar n tn Doctors try to avoid vyvanse and adderall ect with bipolar because it causes mania. Adderal is not used for bipolar. For bipolar i take abilify (aripiprizole) 10mg and 1000mg of divalproex sodium.
Avatar m tn I feel like I'm having a mind seizure sometimes. We still have very little knowledge of the mind and brain, though we are learning more and more. We don't really know why bipolar meds work, there are theories, but no hard science. I find addiction and bipolar to be more similar than seizures and bipolar.
Avatar n tn Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) In patients with OSA, PROVIGIL is used only along with other medical treatments for this sleep disorder. PROVIGIL is not a replacement for your current treatment.
Avatar m tn I started by calling the pharmaceutical company to inquire about assistance, but they have canceled their Provigil assistance program and also told me that depression is one of the few illnesses for which they do not provide assistance anyway. I then looked into other assistance programs, but they require enrollees to be without insurance, and giving up my health insurance is just not practical.
Avatar f tn Hypomania (in the case of co-occurring borderline personality disorder and bipolar II disorder) may precede the emergence of borderline personality disorder in some patients, may surface a number of years later than when borderline personality disorder is first recognized, and in still others may become manifest at about the same time one is first diagnosed with borderline personality disorder." ("American Journal of Physchiatry")...

Avatar f tn I also want to add that I'm very glad that lamictal helps you. I felt lamictal helped me for years when I was really bad off. I have been off of it for two months now and have had no problems. Did you know that studies have found that bipolar disorder can actually lessen/disappear after the age of 25? I'm 29 now, and not even sure that I have it anymore. It certainly hasn't seemed like it for 3-4 years now.
Avatar n tn gov/pubmed/24135842 Otherwise, there is nothing in the scientific literature to indicate a connection between bipolar mood disorder and restless leg. Are there any other questions I can help you with? Best wishes, H.

1353681 tn?1387083733 I do not know much about this disorder, and a friend of mine informed me they are bipolar. I have heard traits such as aggression, mania, and being deceptive? I wanted a little advice or experiences from anyone who has been in a relationship with someone who is bipolar- what to expect or think about. Thank you for any insight.
571966 tn?1217110203 I have not been officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder. However, I have been reading a lot about it and listening to this "HealthTalk" podcast about bipolar disorder. I have been diagnosed with ADD. My doctor (who I only meet with for five to ten minutes) has prescribed me to three different anti-depressants, overall. The first medication was Lexipro, which did not help with my depression. So then he put me on Effexor XR.
Avatar m tn Bipolar I requires a full manic or mixed episode. Bipolar II requires at least one full depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode, with no full manic or mixed episodes.
