My Internal Medicine doctor advised the ulcer is being aggravated by the acid which is causing nausea and pain, the Zantac was not strong enough. She prescribed Protonix 40mg twice a day, I have been on that and feel great; no fatigue, no nausea, no pain! Will be on this regimen for 30 days and then slowly cut back dosage to maintenance level of 40mg once a day every other day.
Ok so I had a upper Gi test done tuesday and they found I had little gastritis of the stomach and esophagitis and that my stomach was making to much acid. I been on protonix for 2 weeks now and after every meal and bedtime I take mylanta. I still feel sick all the time. Also i have very smelly green poop??????? How long can this take sometimes. what else can i rule out? Why could I be making to much stomach acid???? Please help its been three weeks a 2 days.
About a year ago I was experiencing heartburn, I was diagnose with H.pylori, I was given antibiotics,protonix, I was given protonix for 3 months only, as soon as I stopped taking the protonix, heartburn return. I had an egd done which was negative for H.pylori, now I am experiencing nausea after I eat, maybe 3 times a week, when I experience nausea it usually ruins the rest of my day, I am not taking anything for nausea.
Been on basicaly every med on the market and recently I am on 2x daily protonix which has completley gotten rid of the nausea. My bloating (indigestion?) and belching throughout the day has gotten worse. It gets worse by the end of the day and after I eat dinner sometimes lasts for an hour.
I also just started a new weight lifting routine to try and counter this weight loss I had in the past 3 years (dropped from 150 to like 135). I started this the same time as my 2x daily protonix.
I wonder why there is no catagory for nausea in the doctors forums. I am nauseated 24/7 and have been to my doctor and am currently going to a gastroenterologist for the last 10 years or so. I have had plenty of scopes and they usually find and get rid of polyps every time. I am on protonix for my acid reflux but it doesnt help my nausea.
I finally went back to the doctor and he put me on 20 mg Protonix once a day. This solved my problems almost instantly. During this time I also began to start to settle in my new home and was starting to hang out with a new guy so my stress level was way down. Since then I lived pretty normally, with the occasional day of feeling somewhat nauseous every couple of months. I had an upper endoscopy done as well as a stomach emptying test and all results came back normal.
I have posted in the pain management forum, but not in this one yet. I've been having bad neck and shoulder and shoulder blade pain on the right side for a few months. I have been taking Protonix since May, 40mgs once every evening. Because I'm not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit.
I have had it before 2 years ago but it went away. Im back on the PPI protonix as it flared up again. this time it is different as i am finding blood in stool, my stomach is really bloated and i also have a hard spot in the middle of my stomach above my belly button. The protonix is not working as well as it did 2 years ago. I am slightly anemic but doctor said i was born with it and it is not significant. I also have been having bouts of fatigue.
gave me Protonix because I was experiencing some acid reflux...I took Protonix for 2 weeks (1 per day at 40mg) .. I have been having very bad side effects... Naseous, dizzy, increased anxiety, palpitations, gagging, insomnia, rapid heart beat. I thought I was dying. I called my Dr and he blew me off saying he never heard of such side effects and that I am getting anxious maybe I should see a therapist. I have no history of bad anxiety and racing heart like this..
ve also been having terrible heartburn, nausea and vomiting for about the past month. My liver enzymes are elevated, an ultrasound came back negative for gall stones. My HIDA scan showed an EF of 96%. Is there anything i can do to stop the pain and nausea. It happens every time i eat and it doesn't matter what i eat either i've changed my diet to low fat small meals but the pain is still there.
Ok, my nausea meds are just not working, don't want to show up again in ER, realize the pills are not as effective a the IV form, any suggestions?
I've had protonix, zofran and am holding out on the phenergen until bedtime as it will kick butt
If that doesn't work, am clueless
know that nausea meds calm stomach so I can eat and if I don't, stomach acid multiplies........egads.........knock me out for a week!
Regarding: Intermittant/ constant nausea for the past 3-4 years. I've had every test you can imagine- CT scan, abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds, blood tests including the gluten-intolerance one, a gastroscopy, an x-ray with barium meal. Ended up giving up finding an answer and existed on maxalon for a few years- missing way too many days of work. Anywho I am almost constantly nauseous now, usually mild, sometimes severe. i never vomit.
Was diagnosed with delayed gastric emptying and given Protonix. I have had 2 pyloric dilatations but I still have pain in the upper abdominal and chest areas behind the sternum. The regurgitation is better. GI and cardiology cleared me for any overt issues, but I'm having abdominal and chest pain, nausea and vertigo that starts with a strange wave or flushing in my belly and travels upward. It gets really nauseous and I can hear my heart pulsating in my ears. The vertigo is the worst.
ikeep having these sharp pains right around the lower part and upper part of my belly button also on my left side i was tested positive for stool in my blood still seeing dark spots in my stool nausea still there taking zofran for nausea and protonix for the abdominal discomfort doesnt seem to help a whole lot had a ct scan and everything came back normal im going to a specialist for a upper and lower endoscopy any advise whats bothering me
I've been experiencing some odd nausea the past few weeks. It literally just... popped up. I woke up one morning at 4 AM just feeling like I was going to roll over and puke. It went away until later that day when I ate a hamburger and, as soon as I took the first bite, was overthrown with nausea and pain in my stomach.
That was around 3 or so weeks ago and I haven't had the stomach pain until today.
Looking to get pointed in the right direction here. I have constant nausea (all day everyday). Stomach feels full of liquid all the time (I can hear it slushing around). Bloated feeling in stomach and intestines. Recurring tenderness in ascending colon area. Headaches and what seems to feel like dry or tired eyes. Had an abdominal ultrasound and results are a mild fatty liver. I have high cholesterol. Had upper endoscopy and diagnosed with gastritis but I don't get heartburn or sore throat.
In the past I was able to control the symptoms assuming Carafate and 20mg of Prilosec or Protonix for certain periods time to time, which helped without causing any significant side effetcs.
After some time both medicines started causing bad stomach cramps.
I have had a reflux flare up for 5 months now causing me a mild esophageal inflamation.
Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
I was diagnosed with GERD because I have heartburn and I often regurgitate. However, for the past month I have felt like something is stuck in my throat and I am getting nausea every single night. It is so incredibly frustrating. I'm good for most of the day, and then 6-7pm hits and I get nausea. I have to lay down. The only thing that helps is going to sleep.
I am on Nexium and it has done nothing. I still feel the same. Doc just told me to try Prilosec OTC so I started that today.
