Protonix h pylori

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix h pylori

protonix

Dog Nexium is approved for the healing and maintenance of erosive esophagitis, for symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and for use in combination with antibiotics to eradicate Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in patients with active or prior duodenal ulcer disease. Protonix is a gastric proton pump inhibitor (PPI), available in oral and intravenous formulations.
Avatar n tn Gastritis can be difficult to handle, unfortunately. If you make changes to your diet, your lifestyle and H. pylori has been ruled out (or if found and treated), you'll have a better chance of overcoming the problem. Has you doc ruled out the possibility of a hiatal hernia which can add a further complication? It unfortunately probably took you a fairly long time to develop this condition, despite the fact that it may feel like it developed overnight.
Avatar f tn If nothing showed up in the biopsy, the only way to know whether you ever had H. pylori would be to do a blood test using antibodies. If you had ever had H. pylori you'll pop positive on that test. It's one of the reasons it can't be used to check if you've cleared H. pylori after being treated for it. You have to use a breath test instead.
Avatar n tn t as bad as erosive, and the changes that occur to the tissues from nonerosive are typically due to H. pylori, but could be due to other things, too. But the presence of H. pylori should be ruled out. A 5 cm hiatal hernia (about 2 1/2 inches) is considered large or largish. The LA class A erosive esophagitis is a 'mild' form. The antrum is the lower part of the stomach. In general, it looks like you should be checked for H. pylori, if they didn't do so during the endoscopy.
Avatar n tn Well, strange - no H. pylori. What's your diet and what do you drink?
Avatar f tn I had H-Pylori for years. It went undiagnosed for about 5 year. I take an acid blocker daily. I hope you doctor told you that H-Pylori bores holes in your stomach lining. It can take years to heal and you may always have to take a blocker. I did not take it seriously and now I have gerd/reflux and a hiatal hernia. All of which suck. Take your meds even when you do not have the stomach fire.
527758 tn?1246396367 Burping is often due to H. pylori infection of stomach. This is very likely in your case, since Protonix helped your pain - which is from acid, bur not burping, which is from gas produced by H. pylori bacteria. Have a breath test, if positive, you get antibiotics for H. pylori. Beer contains maltose, and when bacteria ingest it, produce a lot of gas. The same, in lesser extent, may happen with other alcohol, and also with sugar.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your help. The only other medication I am on is Advair for my asthma, and this has been for probably close to 15 years. In fact, after the pulmonary tests I was able to effectively lower my dosage from the 500 to the 100. So, at least that was a plus. I have tried cutting out all of the food triggers and coffee and it doesn't do anything. In fact, when I feel the chest pain it occurs all day long.
Avatar m tn now i gonna try to see about the candida yeast infection cause i took too much antibiotics in my life when iw as a teen ager thanks of my acne...and the treatment of h pylori./.i try to fix my intestinal flora with probiotics...the one without milk..and one oz of aloe juice... but i feel really bad..everyday with that pain around my ribs and really gassy...i hope to find someone in this forum with my same problem after the treatment of h pylori..please i need advice...
Avatar m tn They are giving him protonix, omeprazole, carafat, and phenegran. For some reason they seem to think its h-pylori even though the tests were negative. They are sure its a bacterial infection..but can't seem to get the vomiting under control..oh they are giving morphine for pain. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar symptoms...he has been hospitalized at Rady's Childrens Hosp. since Friday, almost a week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
Avatar f tn I have h pylori too and an ulcer going in for an endoscope next week . the 2 week regimen is awful and I couldn't do it cause I have a 9 month old consists of 2 antibiotics either amoxicillin and erythromycin or tetracycline and flagyl .. and a proton pump inhibitor prilosec . I took it for 4 days and had horrible vomiting and diarrhea and stopped the treatment .
Avatar f tn You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole (you are taking this) empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.
Avatar m tn I then had an upper endoscopy, I was diagnosed with h pylori. Might me something to tell your Dr about.
Avatar f tn welcome to our club..you are not the only one who feel that way aftter the teratment of h pylori check this post http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn How were you diagnosed w peptic ulcer would be my first question. Did you have a H. Pylori blood test? If that is positive the treatment is 2 antibiotics and bismuth for 2 weeks. It is a bacteria that can penetrate the thick mucus lining in the stomach and causes ulcers. Protonix can cause constipation. I recently failed both Nexium and Protonix due to side effects. But the constipation was terrible despite everything I threw at it.
Avatar n tn The best way to start that is via an endoscopy and blood test to check for H. pylori. Find out exactly what the lining of your esophagus, stomach and duodenum looks like and talk with a good GI person about what's next. You also want to find out the status of the hernia. I hope you're also following a GERD diet.
Avatar n tn Have they checked you for H-pylori? it is a bacterial infection that can mimic a heart attack. chest pains and all. I personally think that long usage of these stomach meds allow this bacteria to grow because they alter the amount of acid that your stomach produces. In some cases it may have been the H-pylori in the first place and by taking these stomach meds it has made a cozy home for the bacteria but it can be treated with a combo of antibiotics. i'm not a doctor.
20830596 tn?1554933789 Hello, has anyone ever taken PPIs or acid blockers (such as Prilosec, Prevaid, Nexium, Protonix, Zantac, Pepcid, etc) & had an increase or randomly started having OCD or anxiety? I had peptic ulcer a while back (not caused by h. pylori), & all of these meds seem to make my OCD almost intolerable. I thought the issue could have been that they were making my medications not absorb properly, but it looks like these meds actually cause temporary changes in the brain for some people?
Avatar n tn If the pain is from bloating, the cause may be a H. pylori infection of stomach, and you need to be tested for it.
325086 tn?1217971180 Lose stool you have is probably from the food from the day before, and not from the breakfast you've just eaten. Having a bm after a breakfast is normal, and actually the desirable thing. It's a consequence of a gastro-colic reflex: Food coming into the stomach, triggers peristalsis in the colon. What is the color of stools? Would you call these lose stools a diarrhea? Lose stools may be from a lot of fibers, from anxiety. You sems to ingest a lot of fibers.
Avatar m tn The weird thing was that at the time I did not feel any pain up in my throat, all of my discomfort was and is in my stomach. I was even taking 40 mg of Protonix a day back then, so I definitely have something wrong like h. pylori. I could never get the doctor to order so much as a simple breath test for it though.
Avatar m tn Blood test for H. pylori negative. Advised to continue medication. **Two months: Symptoms showed minor improvement, then symptoms returned and worsened. Personally added Maloox to soothe symptoms. Did not help burning sensation in throat, water made it worse. **Three months: Personally discontinued prescriptions (tappered off).
Avatar f tn Since August of 2010 I've had chest pain, difficulty breathing, incredible stomach bloating/distention (even after just drinking a glass of water), burping, reflux, and heartburn. My main concern is the bloating and difficulty breathing. I can barely function on a day to day basis. I eat little bites all day long because I can't eat a full meal or I start hyperventilating. I have had an EGD which showed a polyp (was removed) and some mild esophagitis. I don't have H.
Avatar f tn I had a scope done and it showed severe gastritis with a small ulcer. I was put on nexium results for H. Pylori were negative. Symptoms improved but only for a couple of weeks. Once again I am vomiting and no appetite. I have lost over 30lbs without trying. 6 months after the first scope I just had another one done. This showed that in less then 6 months I now have 6 large ulcers, but none in the duodenum. Biopsies were negative once again for H. pylori and celiac disease.
Avatar n tn I also have been tested for H. Pylori and the test has came back negative multiple times.
