Help! I'm a long-time IBS sufferer who managed the control symptoms for years. But recent stress seems to have thrown things out of control. For the past several weeks, I've been wake up every morning by 5 or 6 feeling extremely nauseated (not pregnant!) and having frequent (5+) bowel movements. I sometimes have continued small, thin soft b.m.s throughout the day. I take Bentyl before bed, which cuts down on cramping and diarrhea.
and for the past week I have had on and off dull ache in my testicles
family dr who gave me protonix, ordered booldwork to check for H Pylori, and abdominal ultrasound...all of which came back normal...and my symptoms are getting worse....im losing sleep and missing work because of so much discomfort. Scheduled appt with gastro doc myself and want to stop the lets try this routine and get some things done that will give me an answer soon.....thoughts/????
I took Nexium 20mg for 11 days and had to stop because of its severe side effects. Then I took Protonix 20mg for 13 days and had to stop because of severe burning in my mouth, chest and tongue. I tried taking Riopan and Gaviscon in December and January without success because they caused a nausea and a burning tongue. Then I had one pill of Zantac 75mg and I suffered hard from abdominal cramps for one day and a burning tongue for 7! Etc..etc...
After being on Protonix 40 mg. for 1 month plus taking 1-1/2 mg. Lorazapam a day it began to affect my saliva flow.
I lost ten pounds in one month because I did not have enough saliva flow to break down alot of different foods. I am now eating very healthy but found out that between the Protonix and Lorazapam they both have done a job on my
mouth. Anyone else have this problem? I am going to discontinue the Lorazapm under my doctor's care and I have not taken Protonix for 7 days.
He was considering doing some true gall bladder tests but said he suspected maybe an ulcer, gastroenteritis?, or maybe IBS. So he prescribed me Hyoscyamine and Protonix, saying he thought maybe the odd shaped poops were being caused by my colon spasming and pushing them into odd shapes. I took the Protonix and hadn't yet started on the other drug and within a day everything returned to normal, I felt great and my poops were back to their normal shape and size.
Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
t working, take 2 of them or get a prescription for protonix or a stronger version of Nexium, aciphex, or lansoprazole. Protonix is really good. If it does not relieve your symptoms, get a GI consult and ask them to do an endoscopy if indicated. It could be a hiatal hernia, but its a stretch. Id bet GERD 99%.
Ok so I had a upper Gi test done tuesday and they found I had little gastritis of the stomach and esophagitis and that my stomach was making to much acid. I been on protonix for 2 weeks now and after every meal and bedtime I take mylanta. I still feel sick all the time. Also i have very smelly green poop??????? How long can this take sometimes. what else can i rule out? Why could I be making to much stomach acid???? Please help its been three weeks a 2 days.
My son had his gallbladder removed in January 2017 after 4 months of gallbladder attacks finally getting diagnosed with a HIDA scan of 0%. He has done great for 8 months. He had a couple of times of temporary stomach upset from fatty foods like ice cream. He now wakes up every morning feeling like he needs to vomit running to the toilet. He never vomits but coughs and welches like he is about to. All tests come back negative.

Sometimes, it feels like gnawing or pinching. No nausea or vomiting. No significant changes in bowel movements. I’ve had IBS for over 10 years so nothing out of the ordinary. I thought maybe it was the gallbladder or appendix at first, however, I’m not quite sure. I’ve been to my primary three times for the issue. 1st trip, he prescribed omeprazole then scheduled an ultrasound. Ultrasound showed no issue with gallbladder, kidneys, appendix or liver.
Lazy doctors frequently misdiagnose Celiacs Disease for IBS. I had to force my GI doctor to test me for it. Now here is the funny part.....she told me I tested negative for Celiac but when I quit eating products with gluten my symptoms go away.

I do have tenderness on my right side--exactly across from where my gallbladder used to be. There is no blood, no gas, or belching--just a dull cramping each time I eat. I stopped taking Protonix two weeks ago to see if that was the cause, but I am still experiencing the same symptoms. Any advice would be much appreciated.
