250398 tn?1225263291 I am working out of the country, so tracking down a Urologist or even a general practice doctor that speaks good enough English for me to understand, and for them to understand me, is a challenge. So, am I on a good track? Prostatitis? Bladder/Kideney infection? Thanks for the help.
250398 tn?1225263291 Given this, what would you suspect for me? I do have BPH and am on meds for it. Do you think maybe I am experiencing prostatitis or some other prostate issue or UTI? I have had some soreness in the lower abdoman and also in the right testicle/epididymus. I am out of the country workingf, and have no real access to adequate healthcare (or that can speak good enough English to discuss). So, I am looking for some reassurances, I guess. Thanks for your help, AJ.
Avatar n tn Also, a radical prostatectomy seems like an extreme measure for prostatitis! I had a radical prostatectomy in Jul 2018 for prostate cancer, and the effects of that are not to be trifled with - 15+ months later, I’m still struggling to regain sexual function & many things are different, including urination. Believe me, you don’t want this unless it’s to save your life, as in if you’re diagnosed w/ cancer.
Avatar m tn I am a 69 year old male with BPH, and a father who had prostate cancer for 15 years, but did not die from it. I have had two bouts of acute prostatitis causing complete retention in the last 7 years, one requiring catheterization. My PSA averages around 2.0, and I take Proscar and Cardura daily. My BPH symptoms are fairly mild causing only about one or two nights a month of nocturia, reduced urine flow, and hardly ever the feeling of urgency.
Avatar m tn I just was on bactrim DS for 6 weeks for Prostatitis cause of pandemic they could not see me. My urine is always clean. I was given flomax but refuse to take it because of ejaculate going backwards and might faint. What can I do to solve this? I usually go to acupuncture but this pandemic is closing everything.
Avatar n tn he tried avodart for 1 year but not worked good for him thats why he stop and try another drug name proscar...
Avatar n tn observation if another biopsy done in 04/09 shows increase in positive cores to 3 or more or if any one core shows 50%+ positive for cancer? Also, is there any current opinion regarding use of Avodart or Proscar while in Watchful Waiting mode? I understand there would be a likely reduction in PSA, but that new PSA baseline be established and return to monitoring of PSA velocity. Not sure what, if any, benefit this would provide.
Avatar n tn The Proscar can reduce your PSA by 50%, so future PSA results will have to account for that reduction. Meaning you may have to double your next score for a true value. You need to make it clear what your status was when you took the last PSA test 1.35. Had you already been on Proscar for some time? Others have said "The increase is the key even if it is small."... Right now you don't need to worry about that.
Avatar m tn I have sought out a urologist who said he detected a high count of white blood cells. I was prescribed procrit or proscar for an extended period of time. I did not complete the required dose because it wasn't helping. I now i have infected my sex partner on a couple of different occassions. she gets treated and cured but i can not. My symptoms include burning and an itching feeling on the tip of my penis.
Avatar n tn A MD prescribed 2 grams of azithromycin one time for this a week ago. I also have had a previous bout of prostatitis due to Proteus (years ago). My questions are 1. What was my risk of stds (gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, NGU could happen), 2. Would this medication address the STDs and 3. Do I need a "test of cure"?

Avatar m tn Treatment for prostatitis involves antibiotic use, frequently for many weeks. It can also be very difficult to treat and some men require multiple treatments with antibiotics. NSAIDS are typically used to treat the symptoms of prostatitis but antibotics are key. Unfortunately, your situation is not uncommon. I suggest that you continue to see your urologist for treatment.
Avatar n tn Yes, I had a colonoscopy done on June 23rd. I had the STD tests done on my own on the 26th. As I said, I was on Levo for four days before I had the STD tests but would being on Levo effect a Herpes blood test? Especially considering the fact that antibiotics have no effect whatsoever on viruses?
Avatar m tn Now 5-6 days into medication cipro seems to be helping a bit. I tried masturbation today to test the waters and now I feel worse. I really don't feel it as much the moment I wake up in the morning and it seems to be more noticeable as day progresses. My Questions: 1. Since this was a high risk encounter, should I be retested for above STDs? 2. Does this sound like Prostatitis? Or what could it be? 2a. I heard prostatitis is hard to cure is that true?
Avatar m tn Don't take Cipro!! It can really mess you up! I was on 6 week course of it for prostatitis and it really messed my nerves up. insomnia, anxiety, and numbness in my hands and feet...
Avatar f tn s possible you affected your DHT levels, but it will definitely only be temporary. I quit Proscar for that reason, best not to fool around with sex hormone levels, in my opinion.
Avatar m tn ) Got back home and was re-tested for STDs--all negative. My doctor suspected prostatitis and put me on Cipro. No change. Went to a urologist who put me on double-strength Bactrim. No change. Then saw another urologist who said the prostatitis wasn't caused by an infection and that's why the drugs hadn't worked. Told me the symptoms would go away and to see him again in 12 months. The symptoms have not gone away.
Avatar n tn ve been reading more about this disease, and by a strange coincidence the coordinating center for the big national studies of chronic pelvic pain (including prostatitis) is in my department, right down the hall from my office. Based on their work, there is some reason to believe that, except in those cases where there is an obvious infection (with fever, discharge, etc. that I never had), prostatitis is not an infectious disease at all.
