Avatar m tn If you experience side effects or if you plan to discontinue it, it is best that you discuss this with your doctor, who knows your medical history and the management plan of your condition. Side effects of proscar include trouble getting or keeping an erection, decrease in sex drive, decreased volume of ejaculate, and ejaculation disorders. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn I am 67 years old, and have gradually developed some symptoms which I think suggest BPH. [not on Proscar etc.]. However, my PSA is now 1,8.[risen 0.5 over 18 months] Prior PSA: 05/11 =1.3 11/10= 1.1 04/10= 1.1 04/09= 1.2 10/08= 1.1 01/08= 0.9 11/07= 0.8 07/07= 1.1 12/05= 0.8 01/05= 0.6 07/04= 0.7 10/02= 0.9 08/02= 0.9 05/98= 0.9 DRE -no nodules What is likelihood this rise represents Ca, and what is next suggestion? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Even if you stopped or switched to another type you could still have floppy iris syndrome. If it works keep on it and tell your eye surgeon. Special techniques and instruments and drops make FIS not the problem it use to be when we first saw it.

Avatar f tn s for benign prostate enlargement, and the results were rather mixed. Then Proscar came along and pretty much ended that debate. Saw Palmetto has faded into the background - it's possible you affected your DHT levels, but it will definitely only be temporary. I quit Proscar for that reason, best not to fool around with sex hormone levels, in my opinion.
Avatar m tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Avatar f tn I guess I thought that the steroids would be out of my system earlier than that. I was hoping someone else had taken steroids and gotten better. It just worries me.
Avatar n tn the er physician said her oxygen level was low so to bring it back up they started an iv with steroids. every hour or so he would recheck and with still not at the range they liked they continued to pump her with steroids until a room a better hospital that treated children opened up. after about 7 hrs she was transported to a better hospital.
Avatar n tn Hi doctors, I'm a 21 year old male currently dating a 20 year old female. Last October she was told by her doctor that she has HPV, low to high risk intraepithelial lesions. The doctor at her school decided she didn't need anything done and didn't need to come back for an exam for another year. That August BEFORE she was diagnosed, we both performed oral sex on each other. I then left at the end of August for an internship in Washington D.C.
Avatar m tn Once again id like to thank you for your advice, this type of situation is hard to consult with my doctor since he is a very close family friend and steroids are such a controversial thing that i really think it wouldnt be a good idea to tell him that i am on steroids lol. I'll be sure to keep you posted and also anyone who is in the same situation as me in hopes that it'll be of help, take care have a good one :) -David .

Avatar n tn I was developing glaucoma (early stages) from steroids. I stopped the steroids and the condition resolved itself. Stop the steroids if you can. I was using Advair for COPD. There were many bad side effects. But I found that I actually got better results using natural remedies. No side effects. If COPD is your problem look to natural alternatives.
Avatar n tn Read the package insert. Any steroid taken any way can cause cataracts or increase IOP. However the risk is quite low with inhalers, much bigger problem with steroid eyedrops or oral steroids.
Avatar m tn The short answer is no but its more complicated. When used after an injury or surgery steroids may reduce scaring. After scars form the scar may be softened and prevented from contracting by steroid use. In the eye often opacification or cloudiness is caused by inflammation and infiltration of white blood cells. Steroids can reduce this type of cloudiness.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I have several autoimmune endocrine diseases and allergies. I am considering adding activated Quercetin with Bromelain to my regimen, but I've read that it can increase the body's metabolism of steroids. I currently take hydrocortisone and florinef for Addison's Disease. Is it safe to start Quercetin? The recent tree pollen increase seems to have really exacerbated many of my endocrine symptoms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
799695 tn?1257579598 Can taking steroids affect the images on an MRI? I am having my second attack with my diagnosis as "Probable MS" with some inflamed area but no "actual" lesions- yet. (hey its one step up from "Possible MS" lol). My sister has MS as well. I am going in for another MRI Thursday and know that if I am having symptoms when I do the MRI, it may show more activity than when I'm "normal.
