I use a generic weekly estradiol patch (.1 mg) and Prometrium (200 mg) every night due to extreme menopausal symptoms. I change my patch on Monday evenings. I bleed for several days beginning every other Monday. Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
Well, I have pcos too and my doctor put me on metformin 500mg three times a day and prometrium 200mg twice a day for 10 days each month. The metformin is good for me insulin levels and working with the prometrium my periods have come back after years of not having one. If your periods aren't coming and you're not ovulating it's so hard to have a baby. Ask your doc about putting you on metformin and prometrium or clomid. :) Good luck!
The dr may put you on prometrium which is pill form which normally you take 3x's a day. Nov 08 I was pregnant and my progesterone was very low, I started to bleed so that is why we checked the progesterone levels. They put me on prometrium and my P4 levels went up into the 30's however the outcome of that pregnancy wasn't very good. There have been lots of women with low progesterone levels put on supplements and have carried to term though.

Spotting can happen for many reasons, infections, sex, irritable cervix, etc. Issues that won't necessarily effect the baby. All you can do is have faith and hope that all goes well.. it sounds like you're on the right medicine and you'll be just fine!!

I have been TTC for 1 year and 1/2. I have had 2 miscarriages, both at around 6 weeks. I was transfered to a fertility clinic late last year. The fertility doc wants me to take 400g of prometrium from 4dpo to 13dpo. He says it doesn't matter whether I'm pregnant or not as the progesterone only helps during implantation and according to him stopping if I am pregnant will not have a negative effect as a valid pregnancy will generate enough progesterone on its own.
The doctor put me on Prometrium 200mg for 10 days to bring my period back. I finished my 10 days pack 3 days ago and still no period.Is this normal? What could possibly cause not to start bleed.
My obgyn prescribed me with prometrium because there was a possibilty that a hormone in my body was low. The same day he prescribed the meds, he ordered some labs and put me on bed rest and had me schedule a follow up in a week. I got the medicine filled at the pharmacy but wasn't exactly comfortable with taking them because my doctor informed me that prometrium is not fda approved. I decided not to take the medication.
I would appreciate any feedback. Very quickly, since I went off the pill in August 2007, I suffered a m/c in December. On 4/14 AF came on time (for the first time might I add) so I figured maybe my cycle will be regular. Well it was from 4/14-4/18 and pretty much consisted of heavy spotting and barely any cramping (unusual for me). Then on 4/26-5/1 - same thing!! So then I went to the OBGYN, after an u/s he believed that I wasn't ovulating. So he put me on Prometrium 200mg for 12 days.
Question i am currently on prometrium 200 mg twice a day to keep me pregnant. On the 20th of this month it was 1,000+ and beta was a 21 point something and on Thursday of last week i took another and it was 3,000+ but my beta dropped down to a 16 point something. The hcg is good but what is the beta and why is it dropping and what could that mean.. Now i did miss about 2 or 3 does of the prometrium since the first test but the hcg is high and going up so why would the beta drop?
6 out of 10 or higher. I am now on Prometrium 100g 2 times a day. I am just so scared that I might miscarry! Has anyone had some type of hormonal problems like this and had a successful pregnancy!! Please give me some type of hope!! Does this Prometrium really bring up the Progestrone? Any advice will help

I have always wondered if the suppositories affect the eggs and she thinks that prometrium caps are better. Any thoughts about this ladies?

I stopped the Prometrium for 10 days and MY BLEEDING STOPPED ENTIRELY so it has to be the Prometrium. I know I need progesterone as still have my uterus but am I the only one that is seeing this happen? I was told by Sott Pelle providers that a women minimally needs progesterone 14 days every third month. Can someone tell me their experience with this?
It was a missed AB. I was put on prometrium in July, had a withdrawl bleed July 2, no ovulation, 2 days of light bleeding on July 25 still no ovulation. Will birthcontrol for a few months help me get my cycle back.
3 on june 11th the dr says that it was so low it is pos but she says it could really be neg so she tokd me to stop progesterone shots now i am bleeding is there any way i could have my # rise and still bleed probally sounds weird but i have this feeling like i should have kept taking shots even though she told me to stop i go wed for a nother test
Fibroids and polyps are almost always benign (~99%) so hysterectomy would be overkill. And hysterectomy causes lifelong harm. I call it the surgery that keeps on giving... problem after problem... even if the ovaries are "preserved."
Intercourse or pelvic exams can cause polyps to bleed. And if they aren't removed at the base, they can recur and cause heavy bleeding.
What were the reasons for the D&C's - as part of the polyp removal or was your lining too thick?
