Prometrium when to take

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium when to take

prometrium

422823 tn?1229736847 I had two miscarriages and they ran a bunch of tests and found I have a blood clotting issue. So when we started TTC again I was told to take baby aspirin and prometrium. I think taking the prometrium was a 'just in case' kind of thing for me - there was never any evidence that low progesterone had been the cause of my miscarriages - clearly it was the blood thing. Good luck!
1262373 tn?1281543782 I conceived on prometrium 400 mg. Unfortunately it ended in mc, but I did get pregnant...the fetus was a male (I had a d&c and they tested to see what was wrong--everything was "normal")---but progesterone has nothing to do w/ conceiving a particular sex. Like pol79princess said, it's just to help prevent potential miscarriage... Good luck!
637951 tn?1257270344 When I took prometrium 3 years ago, it took about 12 or 14 days to get my period. I only had one cycle since I got pregnant with my son on the second round. Good luck!!!
Avatar n tn Hey .. Do you have to take prometrium everyday of your cycle ? And not just the second half ? And from what I know.. progesterone has to be stopped for AF to come .. Have you talked to your doctor about this ? What does he say ?
Avatar f tn her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes. I stopped taking the prometrium th week before I called her. On th 23, I was told that I didn't ovulated at all. Could you explain your intake on the prometrium process to me so I could have a better understanding how it works. Thank you.
1361945 tn?1300803299 I had mine drawn at 17dpo (found out I was pregnant on 14dpo) and it was 19.9 and my nurse said that its up to me if I take the prometrium or not. Does that number sound good? So I don't know what to do for sure, maybe just take it once a day unstead of twice a day. Any advice would be appreciated!
211043 tn?1337050701 Yes ma'am!!! Progesterone always made my breasts huge and sore. It has been a few months since I've been on it, but yes, I can completly relate to your symptoms! As for the "don't take when pregnant" label, this is how it was explained to me: taking progesterone supplements then abruptly stopping them is a way that a doctor can use to make you start AF, thus, they need to put that label on there.
1169053 tn?1278116232 I was instruted to only take the inserts endometroim. I had my 2nd IUI today so now in the 2 WW.
Avatar f tn It is hard to say how your body will react to the Prometrium because every woman is different. But from experiences I have read, Prometrium can tend to cause breakthrough bleeding / spotting but maybe that won't be your case. Would a lower dose of Provera maybe do the trick without such heavy bleeding? Being that you are 58, it would seem you should not have to deal with this for too much longer. Best of luck to you! Let us know how it goes.
490183 tn?1361213953 Thanks Heather! Honestly, I didn't follow DR's orders. He gave me an HCG test 14DPO, and because I've gotten false negative HCG tests in the past cause the DR's tested me too soon, I didn't stop Prometrium. Yup, I've gotten actual false blood tests, when their suppose to be so accurate. I suppose I don't trust me own body!
1318306 tn?1276180824 Boy that prometrium really gave me a strong AF. My doctor said it may take my body a couple months to adjust to taking the prometrium. My hopes are up and Its going to be a good next month. Pray for babies for all.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to stop my prometrium when I'm 10w which is this thursday, but I have read that some people have miscarried because ur body is not making enough progesterone of its own. I been trying to get preggo for almost 4 yrs and to miscarried now would be devestating. I have also heard that if ur preggo with twins which I am its good to keep taking the prometrium to minimize the chances of premature labor.
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed prometrium for her. She is scared to death to take the medication because it has a strong warning on the label "DO NOT TAKE IF PREGNANT OR ANTICIPATE GETTING PREGNANT. Why would the doctor prescribe prometrium if the twin is OK at this time?
495138 tn?1221217880 I take Prometrium 100mg twice a day, but it is oral. My understanding is that we need to stay on it until the first part of the second trimester to help the baby, and it cant hurt.
Avatar f tn Okay. Well, I have pcos too and my doctor put me on metformin 500mg three times a day and prometrium 200mg twice a day for 10 days each month. The metformin is good for me insulin levels and working with the prometrium my periods have come back after years of not having one. If your periods aren't coming and you're not ovulating it's so hard to have a baby. Ask your doc about putting you on metformin and prometrium or clomid. :) Good luck!
Avatar f tn I decided not to take the medication. When I returned to the doctor a week later, he said that my hormone level came back at 12.4 and informed me that that is extremely low. He said that my body would have had to have produced more of the hormone otherwise I would have already miscarried. (Before the appointment with him, I had an ultrasound done that confirmed everything was normal.
Avatar n tn On Tuesday I was told my Saturday Progesterone levels were 17-very good. OB said to keep taking Prometrium and to take it twice daily due to bleeding. He said U/S would not show anything yet. Tuesday afternoon my bleeding stopped and did not start again until Wednesday morning. It is now Wednesday evening and my bleeding has stopped again. I was wondering if taking the Prometrium at night and in the morning could be triggering bleeding? This is not like any miscarriage I have ever had.
419008 tn?1219536438 Well AF is done as of this morning... had a m/c beginning of march and was ttc, but AF showed up Friday. Brfore my m/c My cycles were every 26 days. I don't know if I didin't O or if I missed O between m/c and AF but I am not sure. So I want to use OPK and don't know when to start - maybe I'll start tomorrow - I've got 20 of them.
Avatar f tn Prometrium is to help raise the progesterone to aid in implantation of the baby. It is taken the day after Ovulation and till the period occurs. Now as it raises the progesterone it can delay your period if you are not pregnant as during the luteal phase (after ovulation) your progesterone will decrease and estrogen levels will rise talling your body to shed the uterine lining causeing yoru period to occur. When you take suppliments the progesterone stays up and may not fall till stopped.
175665 tn?1306459024 So I called and talked to the NP on call and she talked to the on call doctor and they decided to call in a script for Prometrium to be on the safe side. I have never used this before and was just wondering from experienced users. I am not sure how far along I am yet, I m/c 5w2d ago, didn't get AF and I have no idea when I O'd because I had NO signs of it. So I know I am early in the game so this is good. Hace you had good experiences with this? Any side effects?
1328947 tn?1295011446 I never was told what my progesterone count was i was just told it was low so the doc changed my prometrium to twice a day... im pray all goes good and that ill be able to have a ultrasound soon!! n ill keep both of u in my prayers! Avatar n tn Hi, I am having my progestrone levels very low so doctor prescribe me to take prometrium 100mg twice daily, now my question is, I got BFP when I did HTP and now I am 5 weeks 2 days. So now can I contiune to take prometrium after knowing that I am pregnant ? then are some positive as well as negative responses regarding this, my doctor said that it will be of no harm contiuning in the first trimester. is prometrium natural progestorone supplement ?
Avatar f tn I should have asked my doctor this, but forgot and now it's the weekend so thought I'd ask here: I'm on 200mg progesterone orally 2 times a day. Do I have to take the doses 12 hours apart? I've been taking it at 5 in the morning and then 5 in the afternoon, but it makes me really sick and dizzy. When I take it at 5 in the morning I'm able to go back to bed for 2 hours so that works out okay, but the 5 p.m.
