Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium suppository

prometrium

897362 tn?1318121281 I have LPD (luteal phase defect) and start taking my prometrium (progesterone) suppository starting 3dpo to build up my uterine lining making it possible for implantation.... (have had 5 early m/c's so far). 2 hours after I inserted my first prometrium suppository this morning I found an abundance of eggwhite cm tinged with brown/pink. Is this too early for implantation? Is this a sign of something possibly wrong?? Thanks for any info!
Avatar f tn Hey girls ~ was told yesterday that having Prometrium prescribed as a suppository was ludicrous ~ that Crinone Gel is mega better and sticks as opposed to the Prometrium which just drips out "because it was made to be taken orally ~ not vaginally ~ and anyone who suggests it is just playing with being a Fertilization Specialist"....
489000 tn?1364302227 I had some discharge with the prometrium suppository. I did develop a yeast infection while on it and was put on an antibiotic. If you develop more symptoms of an infection, I'd go get checked. It just takes a few minutes to find out. I've read that it's not good to have a yeast infection while pregnant, so if in doubt, you should get it checked.
Avatar f tn Prometrium, a progesterone supplement, is sometimes prescribed during the first trimester of pregnancy in women who have had a history of miscarriages caused by low progesterone levels. The addition of prometruim during pregnancy helps ensure that the women will carry the fetus to full-term. It works by helping ensure that a placenta is fully formed thus providing the necessary lifeline for the developing fetus.
Avatar f tn I'd love some wisdom from everyone! Anyone! I'm 6 weeks pregnant and started bleeding Tuesday. It was not typical miscarriage symptoms but that is how my miscarriage in 2006 started out (as a little bleeding). So naturally I FLIP. We've been trying for this baby for 13 months, with PCOS and went through Clomid (did not conceive on Clomid but instead conceived when we STOPPED trying and moved on with our lives... go figure!). I want this baby more than anything right now.
1145751 tn?1262133453 Ok so I got these Prometrium capsules and it states on the package insert that these capsules are oral capsule. My OB's direction is to insert it vaginally as a suppository. Im concerned because the capsules outside gel is pretty thick. I just dont want to keep shoving these things in me and it not dissolve. Has anyone used oral capsules as suppository?
Avatar f tn DOES ANYONE KNOW IF PROMETRIUM PROLONGS YOUR TIME IN BETWEEN PERIODS IF USED AS A SUPPOSITORY..??..SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A PERIOD BY NOW ~ 14PIUI ~ just wondering ~ and getting AWFUL nervous/EXCITED/nervous.....????.....REALLY TIRED too......go for blood work tomorrow ~....
Avatar n tn I am pregnant (week 5) and have some brown discharge and sometimes bleeding also. my progesterone is 28.9. doctor suggests me progesterone suppository . is my baby safe or i have complications in my pregnancy? Avatar f tn I switched from a RE in Czech Republic who did my IVF and supplied my progesterone- vaginal suppositories, to a local OBGYN who gave me a further prescription for progesterone in the form of prometrium capsules (the little pink 100mg balls). My prescription says to be taken vaginally, but the info leaflet says to be taken orally. Can you take the same capsule either orally or vaginally as a suppository?
Avatar f tn s 90 mg of progesterone. Does this seem low? Before (with a different dr) I was on 400 prometrium and then switched to 800 mg compounded progesterone in a vaginal suppository. Are the dosages somehow different or am I getting 1/8 what I was before?
1564074 tn?1334490908 He has put me on prometrium 100mg 3 x a day even before my results came back. Has anyone had results like this or heard of some one who has had a successful pregnancy with levels like this?

Avatar f tn You produce progesterone naturally and it increases to help maintain pregnancy. I have been on prometrium and vaginal suppository progesterone since 4 weeks.
652899 tn?1284047173 I am on Prometrium 100 mg suppositories used once a day at betime. I start this 2 days after IUI. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn ve been taking Crinone 8% suppositories once a day for the past 2 weeks but my OB changed my Rx (due to insurance issues) to Progesterone 100mg (generic for prometrium) 3 times a day which I take orally. I just started the progesterone yesterday and my question is... Is it better to take the Progesterone pills vaginally instead? It's a small round peach pill with a gel coating. I'm so afraid of my levels dropping due to the change of meds and change in the way it's administered.
175665 tn?1306459024 Is anyone here on Prometrium now or used it in the past? I have had 6 miscarriages in the past, most recent one was twins Christmas Day. I just got a BFP Saturday night and went and had my 1st Beta drawn this morning as well as my progesterone level. Well we are expecting horrible weather, ice and up to 20 inches of snow, so my OB's office decided to close at 2:30 this afternoon and for will be closed tomorrow, possible the rest of the week.
Avatar n tn I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and my doctor prescribed prometrium 200mg and and I have been cutting open the pill and taking the medicine that way because I can not swallow pills, so I want to know if the medication is still working in my body?
Avatar f tn I took prometrium orally instead of via suppository, and didn't have any issues with it. The side effects tend to mimic pregnancy symptoms, so no real problem at all. Congrats on your pregnancy, and all the best to you!
588676 tn?1317820597 Has anyone ever used Crinone 8% vaginal gel suppository? I have used Prometrium (orally) in the past; however, my new OB would like me to try Crinone 8% being that it is absorbed directly where it is needed. I am curious to know if any of you have had experience with it. Are there any side effects? Do you experience a discharge with it? Is it messy?
Avatar f tn I always get itchy and yeasty towards the end of a fertility treatment cycle because I use the progesterone vaginal suppositories (prometrium). When it's gotten really bad, I asked my OBGYN and they said it was OK to use the external cream that usually comes with the monistat suppositories. I do NOT use the monistat suppository, just the cream that comes with it and only externally. It seems to help.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies. I am almost 6 weeks. We've been on prometrium since the IUI, was once a day. My first progesterone at 12 DPO was 20. It dropped to 19 at 14 DPO and then at 19 DPO it was 11. (I forgot to take my pill the night before) They put me on 2 a day since then. I went to get it checked today and it was only 15. Is this low or normal? When will the dizziness stop?? Am I usually on them until 12 weeks?

4657659 tn?1358019176 Thanks to your responses ladies. I appreciate the comfort words.I am taking progesterone- prometrium suppository. This 2ww is unbearable! crossing my fingers.
Avatar f tn I'ld like to know is anyone on prometrium suppository, because i'm on it & my Dr. said to stop by 12th week. Has anyone of you heard about it- any sucess stories. Dr. says after 12 weeks placenta would take care of it. I'm really scared.... This is my 3rd preg, after 2m/c- so scared. Any advice is appreciated.

377493 tn?1356502149 I have a prescription for prometrium (progesterone) that my OB said to fill as soon as I got a positive HPT. I also still have some left over from before. It is prescribed at 300mg per day (orally). I am wondering if I should start it now, during the 2ww time. Does anyone know if that could cause a potentially negative situation, or if its a bad idea? Also, many women here have suggested to me that I maybe take baby asprin. My OB has not told me to do that, but should I anyway?
631676 tn?1333718203 talked to you about progesterone supplements? Many of the women here take them through suppository, and I will be taking them orally. Maybe ask your OB about it. Best of luck, and try not to be too scared. There is every reason to believe this pregnancy will turn out well for you!!
