Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium perimenopause

prometrium

864502 tn?1382640699 I was told a couple of months ago that I am going through perimenopause. I have irregular cycles. My 1st cycle was when I was 15 years old. I had one cycle in September and it did not come back the next month. I took birth control pills when I was 16....The 1st set of pills made me gain weight and the 2nd set made me sick. So now my cycles are 2-5 years apart. The last cycle I had was in May 2007.
Avatar n tn You cycle starts to become irregular. Could be perimenopause or premenopause.
Avatar f tn All my levels were within normal range and doc figured perimenopause. I had an ultrasound that showed something funny in the lining of the uterus as well as some fibroids and a cyst. I was referred to a gyn for further investigation. She booked a hysterscopy. Meanwhile, while waiting for the test, I had a period in January and then nothing. In March I started having hot flashes - they came on suddenly and violently and I was probably having 50 or so a day.
Avatar f tn t had a period for a year. Perimenopause can last up to 10 years, and you do still ovulate during this time, although it is common for your cycles to be irregular. Having an LH surge does not necessarily mean you ovulated. All it tells you is that your body is gearing up to, or attempting to ovulate. Sometimes you won't and then may experience another surge later on in your cycle.
377493 tn?1356502149 t ever remember this happening before. I googled it, and everything came up referencing perimenopause. However, those sites also said only 1% of women will go into perimenopause before 40 (that is only a month and a bit away). I am wondering if this is a side effect of the clomid, prometrium, etc. This is my 4th round of clomid, and I started it day 3 this month instead of day 5 (according to OB orders). Has anyone ever heard of that happening?
384150 tn?1399904816 So I finally found some info on shorter and lighter AF. Apparantly using prometrium can cause this as well. Were you by any chance on prometrium? Also, I meant to mention, I started having a shortened luteal phase a few cycles ago,and that is one of the reasons my Dr. put me on clomid. He said a 14 day luteal phase was perfect world scenario for conceiving. Hope this helps a bit. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I have been on bio-identical hormones for 3 years and they have worked wonders until recently. I wear a climera patch all month of .075 and I take Prometrium 12 days of the month. Is progesteron different from my prometrium? Should I stop all hormone therapy to see if the bleeding stops? I really don't know what to do from here.
Avatar f tn I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.
Avatar f tn I am not sure why the pharmacists are big on the troaches. Maybe they can regulate the dose that way compared to Prometrium which come in at 100, 200, 300, and 400 mg I believe. And, since sleep has been an issue, perhaps the thinking was that you would benefit from the side effect progesterone has when it passes through the liver and gives off a by-product that makes you sleepy. But, the progesterone itself should not cause these problems.
611020 tn?1290571629 Does anyone know if you're taking Prometrium, and you are miscarrying, can the prometrium prevent any sign of the m/c ? i.e. can it prevent spotting/bleeding/cramping , or will the m/c go through anyway.?
490183 tn?1361213953 Yes, Prometrium does delay your AF. First time when i was on prometrium, i didn't get my AF until CD40.
Avatar f tn We have really only been trying for a couple of months, but I am very worried I may be in this perimenopause, as when I read up on it, I have classic symptoms of it. Has anyone else out there been concerned about this, and still gotten pregnant? I desperately want another child!
594293 tn?1222655980 s the majority of it. It had not even occurred to me that it could be perimenopause until a few weeks ago. I went for blood work yesterday so I won't hear results until next week. I have made some changes such as changing to decaf coffee (and only drinking a fraction of what I used to), trying to eat healthy, etc. I would like some suggestions to help with the lightheadedness and jitteryness/nervousness though as these can be hard to deal with as many of you already know!
Avatar f tn I think that I am into my first year of Perimenopause that I have experiences with all Symptoms. Did anyone like me as the first year going through it? It seems aging has its price. I would like to exchange notes with people like me so perhaps we could share better tips to deal with it together. As Perimenopause may cause bone lost so I am trying to add in some Vitamin, did anyone take some Vitaman to prevent bone lost?

Avatar f tn I'm 44 and have been very irregular with my periods for the last few years. I'm on the pill (Yaz) and never miss any. I'm still irregular on the pill even though my GYN put me on it to try and regulate me. I sometimes get my period during the "active" pills and not during the "inactive" pills. My cycle would last anywhere from 3 days to 14 days and would be very light to severe. The last day of my last period was May 1st. I haven't had a period since then.
Avatar n tn I am 43 and I been experiencing almost all of the samethings. I feel like my menstral is on but it's not.
Avatar f tn Im also having bad headaches and bad palpitations too (worse before my period), the thing is, ive had the usual heart test and hormones checked and all is normal! How would pcos afect my hormones and does it make a difference in perimenopause? Please can someone enlighten me or give me advice as i am at my wits end as my gp says it is stress and wont entertain the thought of peri.
377493 tn?1356502149 I know this is due to increased progesterone, but am wondering if you think it might be a symptom of perimenopause. My last 3 cycles have also been a bit irregular. 26 days..not a big change. 28 days, normal. This time AF started on CD 22!! OPK still showed positive CD 13, so O was normal. What the heck? Now, I have no issue aging..I have earned every wrinkle and am darned proud of them.
1398693 tn?1343684738 I've been getting major cramps since I've started perimenopause I saw a midwife ( no gynocologysts was avalible ) about it and I was fobbed off and I was told to take ibuprofen and I told her that I've tried that along with everything on the market and I was told to take ibuprofen before I get my monthly and to come back in 9 mos. Since I can't get help from a doctor ( or anybody else in the medical community ) does anyone have any ideas of how I can stop this pain?
Avatar f tn I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..
Avatar f tn I am supposed to stop my prometrium when I'm 10w which is this thursday, but I have read that some people have miscarried because ur body is not making enough progesterone of its own. I been trying to get preggo for almost 4 yrs and to miscarried now would be devestating. I have also heard that if ur preggo with twins which I am its good to keep taking the prometrium to minimize the chances of premature labor.
419008 tn?1219536438 Anyway, I had started prometrium 100mg 2x a day 5 dpo. Since BFN this month I am wondering if the prometrium will have screwed things up for next month? Doesn't it prevent o? I stopped taking it last nite, but I hope that its not to late and I'll still be able to get a BFP next month.
Avatar f tn I got mine the next day, as soon as I stopped prometrium I started spotting and the next day I got my AF.
Avatar n tn I have had 3 past m/c, but 3 healthy children since the last one. I found out Thurs. I was pregnant. I called my ob. He started me on Prometrium 200 mg vaginally per day. I started that Friday night. Sat. afternoon I had some brown spotting. Was checked at ER and everything ok. hcg was 17-they said was very early. They also checked my progesterone level. Sat. night late had heavier red bleeding like period. Went back to ER they said was m/c most likely.
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed prometrium for her. She is scared to death to take the medication because it has a strong warning on the label "DO NOT TAKE IF PREGNANT OR ANTICIPATE GETTING PREGNANT. Why would the doctor prescribe prometrium if the twin is OK at this time?
