prometrium or provera

ve only been on either BC pills or progesterone (Prometrium) to start in the past. Anyone have any experience with this?

My family doc gave me a prescription for Prometrium (200 mgs) because I was terrified of taking the Provera again due to side effects and heavy bleeding. Any information on how one feels while taking Prometrium (vs Provera) and whether it works to bring on a flow but, not a flood? I'm confused and cannot get my OBGYN by phone or even and appointment to talk to her. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in like 5 months. If you don't know me, my husband and I have been trying to have a baby for over two years. I haven't been on because we stopped trying for a little while. But I'm back. This is something I want so bad I can taste it. I'm not ovulating and my OB won't give me anything to induce it. I'm on provera which is supposed to induce my period and that isn't working either.

provera is usuallly the standard for treating amenorrhea. although duphaston is much the same I do believe that duphaston has been discontinued but iam not positive. Either way please do not take this without a doc's RX and is not to be used as the abortion pill. Taking these meds will bring on a menstrual cycle but this can be very painful and come wiith heavy bleeding.

you take clomid usually cd5-9 or cd3-7, so you have to have a period to know when to take it. you can use prometrium or provera they both induce af. the side effects of prometrium are horrible, i have never taken provera but i have heard good things. you might want to start tracking your bbt to see if you are ovulating.

Hi I take prometrium which is like provera, when i take it anything and everything makes me cry! even if it's not sad or i get so angry i can feel my face get red and my blood pressure go up.

I stopped taking the pill a little over a year ago because my husband and I decided to try for a baby. We tried for 7 months with no luck. I went to my ob/gyn and she put me on provera 10mg for 10 days. I started 2 days after my last pill and then started Clomid 50mg days 3-7. I went on day 21 to have my levels tested, found out I did not ovulate. So we tried again the second month, same treatment, started 2 days after my last Provera pill and did the Clomid cycle. Did not ovulate.

Provera and prometrium can help stop your period, it's the withdrawl that causes a period (so when you stop taking it). I think it depends on your hormones as to how long you cycle is mine only lasts 3-4 days. Really anything over 7 days is abnormal and you should be seen by a doctor. Good luck I hope it gets better.

My dr. just put me on Prometrium 200mg at bedtime with hope to get my period. Has anyone taken this for similar reason and what was your outcome? We are trying to get pregnant.

i took provera for ten days,and i still have had no period at all.is this normal.i had bled three weeks before taking the medicine,doctor said my uterus was still full,he is using provera to strip the uterus out,but nothing has happened.

I am a bit unsure about the provera due to some side effects? How did you find the prometrium I think its similar.

Me and my husband decided we wanted another baby but were told that we could it without help. So we started provera to get a period again then clomid. 2 days again I had to inject myself with Ovidrel 2 days ago and need tomorrow in need to add Prometrium to me. I am in the same boat. I have taken probably 5 or 6 rounds of Prometrium and provera. Then I just finished my 3rd round of Clomid. I actually ovulated this month for the first time. I was on 50 mg days 5-9. I feel like I am prego. The test still says negative, but I am optimistic. I am only 11 DPO. AF is suppose to be here on Friday. I am going tomorrow morning at 9 for a blood test. I can't wait til Friday. I am going to the beach, and don't want to be consumed with it!

The problem with the qualititative vs. the quantitative test is that if your number is below 25 then it will show as negative on a qualitative test even though any number over 5 is considered pregnant. So it's important to know the number so you don't have any doubts. Since you say it's to support a pregnancy I wouldn't worry about AF starting because you'll know whether or not to continue taking the Prometrium after your second beta.

I am not sure about whether or not the cause of the miscarriages were due to the Depo-Provera but I did furthur research and wanted to share some info with those individuals that don't know. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone. I was very young when I took it and didn't get all of the details (ignorance). If I would have known that fact alone, I wouldn't have taken it. If you have a low Progestrone Level it will more than likely cause you to have a miscarriage. Now.....

I was on Provera last year and my AF came 3 days after my last pill. Should I expect the same time frame on Promedium? Has anyone had experience with this. I'm not sure when I O'd for sure so It's hard to know when to stop by that. I started it a couple of days after I thought I O'd. Any advice would be appreciated.

t ovulate your Dr. will up your dosage and maybe give you Prometrium or some other drug to induce your AF. I’m actually surprise he didn’t induce you before you started your first dosage of Clomid. Now you can also take Clomid on different CD for instance I take my on cd3-7 some do cd5-9. Just follow your dr. orders and if you have any questions call your dr. or ask us we can try to help you as best as we can. BTW are you doing anything tests to check your ovulation: BBT, OPK, CM...?

we have not been trying and ive been on provera the last week to try to get my period. i stopped the provera and went to the doctor yesterday to do a beta. i will know the results on monday. i still have prometrium left over from months ago (100 mgs), and they told me to start that right away and my lovenox. they told me to take one prometrium, but i am nervous so i am taking one in the a.m. and one before bed. i am freaking out ladies! this is so unexpected...

I dont get my periods unless i take provera and my doc. said that you dont have get your periods to take clomid. I took my 1st dose 2 months ago to get jump start my system and hopefully get pregnant but no luck. Just wondering if anyone has had a BFN while on prometrium, but had a greatly increased bust size? Today I'm 7 dpiui. I woke up and was making breakfast, and my husband said "your boobs look like they could launch missiles!" - he was right! The first thing we noticed was that they are much pointier - like I'm wearing one of those awful cone shaped bras - but I was braless. Then I realized as the day progressed that they definitely seemed much bigger.

Hi, I also do not have periods or ovulate. I'm on prometrium to have a period, and this month i'm on 150mg of clomid. i still have two pills left for this cycle, I will let you know if it works. Also when i took 100mg last cycle i experienced moderate cramping around my ovaries, so far the 150mg is pretty bad. Every morning i wake up with a migraine and all day i have hot flashes. I'd double check with your doc (or the pharmacist), but I'm almost positive that you should only be taking 10 pills (the pharmacy might have just given you a 2-month supply to make it easier for the "next time"). I've taken Prometrium and Provera about a half dozen times to jump start my period and each time it usually takes anywhere from 2-5 days after the last pill for my period to show up. Everyone is different though, so you might get it sooner or later.
