I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily.
My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia.
These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy.
I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones.
I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.

The same day he prescribed the meds, he ordered some labs and put me on bed rest and had me schedule a follow up in a week. I got the medicine filled at the pharmacy but wasn't exactly comfortable with taking them because my doctor informed me that prometrium is not fda approved. I decided not to take the medication.

I've been taking prometrium vaginally twice daily for 13 days now (started the day after my IUI) and on day 10, I started noticing a headache, a dull gnawing sensation on both sides of my head. It is day 14 of prometrium now (CD32) and I am still feeling this. If I bend over to pick up something it hurts even more.

Do any of you have suggestions? I noticed someone was on Climera and another was on the Vivelle w/ Prometrium. What dose of prometrium do you take?
While I still feel better than I did before my hyst. (pain wise anyway) there has to be some way to control these hot flashes!
I took prometrium 100mg a day for the first trimester, i stopped taking it last friday so 10 days ago. I have had a migraine every day starting at around noon and lasting until I go to bed. I took prometrium prior to pregnancy for period induction which i took for 10 days and i would get a "withdrawl" migraine for a day or two. Have any of you ladies experienced this?
Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel. What other alternatives would you suggest to the 100 mg. prometrium?
As a preventative measure, my RE prescribed prometrium for me. I was a little squeamish about taking the suppositories so I received the tablet form. I need to take 2 tablets 3x a day.
I'm looking at the bottle right now and I'm a feeling anxious about it. I'm worried about the possible side affects. I'm scared about fooling around with my hormone levels. Please, please tell me I'm being silly.
It is hard to say how your body will react to the Prometrium because every woman is different. But from experiences I have read, Prometrium can tend to cause breakthrough bleeding / spotting but maybe that won't be your case. Would a lower dose of Provera maybe do the trick without such heavy bleeding? Being that you are 58, it would seem you should not have to deal with this for too much longer. Best of luck to you! I am 9 weeks pregnant (thank God) and I was taking metformin to control insulin levels and hormone levels. I got pregnant four months after starting the metformin treatment. Because I had a miscarriage last year. They put me on prometrium. As soon as I found out I was pregnant. I went to get my HCG and progesteron checked. it was HCG 130 and progesterone 45.8 which is good. But they put me on it just in case.

Ihave undergone a surgery for having a pitutory gland cyst 3 months back.Ihave all my hormone levels -testosterone,etc. very low before&after the surgery.For that now i have being adviced to have HRT.Is this therapy did any way affect my brain as it had underwent a sugery only 3 months before.Please try to give me a reply as soon as possible.
The 2mg dose of estrace seemed to help with the mood swings but the sweating and frontal hair loss has been devastating to me to say the least.The Dr. now has me on 100mg of prometrium together with 1 mg of Estrace, but stated to me that I shouldn't really need the prometrium beings I don't have a Uterus anymore.Am I going to keep loosing my hair like this?I'm sick about it b/c my hair is already so fine and thin. What can I do?
My MD had me come in for hormone checks this past week just to do some early monitoring since I just had a miscarriage. Results:
5/27 HCG= 1515, Progesterone= 32
5/29 HCG= 2000, Progesterone= 28
They said the progesterone was still well within normal limits, but HCG not doubling appropriately, so I was started on Prometrium.
I am not sure about whether or not the cause of the miscarriages were due to the Depo-Provera but I did furthur research and wanted to share some info with those individuals that don't know. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone. I was very young when I took it and didn't get all of the details (ignorance). If I would have known that fact alone, I wouldn't have taken it. If you have a low Progestrone Level it will more than likely cause you to have a miscarriage. Now.....
im also on prometrium hormone pills to raise my progesterone levels bc they were extremely low to where my dr said i should have m/c..
You produce progesterone naturally and it increases to help maintain pregnancy. I have been on prometrium and vaginal suppository progesterone since 4 weeks.
Hello - 2 years ago at age 46 I was diagnosed with Grave's disease. I opted to take drugs to treat this rather than a more radical approach. It took awhile but it got under control and I now take only 2.5 mg of tapezole per day. I am still testing positive for antibodies so the endocrinologist wants me to continue. Last September I had my "female" hormone levels checked as things with my period were a little whonky - no period for three months and then three in a month.
I stopped the Prometrium for 10 days and MY BLEEDING STOPPED ENTIRELY so it has to be the Prometrium. I know I need progesterone as still have my uterus but am I the only one that is seeing this happen? I was told by Sott Pelle providers that a women minimally needs progesterone 14 days every third month. Can someone tell me their experience with this?
075 and I take Prometrium 12 days of the month. Is progesteron different from my prometrium? Should I stop all hormone therapy to see if the bleeding stops? I really don't know what to do from here.
iam taking clomid 50mg from 3rd day to 7th day of my cycle and from 22nd day of my cycle to 28th day iam on prometrium...my doctor asked me do pegency test on 29th day and if it is negitive she want me to stop prometrium and wait for my periods...this is what ihave done for last 2 cycles and i doing the same thing for my 3rd cycle also.......iam taking this treatment without undergoing HSG test...will there be any problem and i feel that iam not ovulating cause iam taking my BBT...evry month....
