prometrium for sleep

I have been on prometrium for 6 months and have found it has helped me sleep as well as with the hot flashes, I take 200mg before I go to bed. The doctor suggested I try cutting it back to 100mg but the insomnia came back so I am back on the higher dose. I now just get the odd night sweat and hardly any hot flashes during the day. It took about three weeks for it to work for me so it's probably worth sticking with.

I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.

I took Prometrium 100mg twice a day after 3DPIUI for 15 days. I will be off Prometrium on 5/25 if AF is coming.. After that I do not know if I still need to take the med or not.

My Dr has prescribed Prometrium 200mgs to be taken for the 1st 5 days of my next period. Everything I have read about this is that it is usually prescribed for 10 days before your period, so I am confused. Also, he mentioned that Prometrium will help protect me from endometrial cancer and possibly breast cancer. I read that it may increase the risk of breast cancer so I am totally confused. Can someone help and offer advice? I am going for a 2nd opinion in December with another Ob/Gyn.

My cycle is nowhere to be seen (not totally uncommon for me) and my last period was in mid-December. My OB was fine with giving me an Rx for BC pills to induce a bleed, but when I called the RE's office, she said that I shouldn't start them and that we will talk about an alternate route at the appt. Now I'm just curious what types of drugs they would put me on? Are there stronger injectibles to induce a period?

Thanks for your kind reply. My RE only put me on these medicine. i am taking prometrium for 1 to 12 days and estradiol for daily routine.she checked my blood for whether i am ovulating or not. It was below 1. so i was not ovulating. but is there any chance to produce new egg, even if we dont have follicle?

m curious because I to was put on 200mg vaginaly of prometrium. My hcg was at 23 and I feel thats low. I go back on Monday for a re-draw and count again.

Everything is going great. I am on baby aspirin a day and 200mg 2x prometrium. its working for me! progesterone does an amazing job at holding pregnancies, and the baby asprin is to thin you blood so more goes to the uterus. This can also help if you have a blood clotting issue. i have never been tested for anything but i wanted to try 1 more time first with these medicines and i believe its really helping me.

I was on prometrium suppositories for my first iui and nausea is one of the listed side effects. I suffered from it starting 2-3 days after my first dose. It can also make you tired, dizzy, cramps, bloating, worry, irritability, headache and sore bbs. Unfortunately some of those are also symptoms of pms and possible early sign of pregnancy. It really messes with your head as you get close to the end of your ttw and you are trying to guess where your symptoms are coming from.

s the same thing - but I was on 200mg oral prometrium for the first 13 weeks. I took it at night so I never noticed any side effects except for the one day I forgot to take it at night and took it in the morning. Then I was super dizzy and probably shouldn't have driven! So then are you going to have to take it multiple times during the day? I literally took it right before I went to sleep and was fine. Good luck.

I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.

Yes, Prometrium does delay your AF. First time when i was on prometrium, i didn't get my AF until CD40.

I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..

I do not know what to give you advise, but the best is call your doctor and ask for their opinion. I think if prometrium helps, then dr will keep you on the med. call them and ask them. update with us.

I tried bioidentical hormones, troches, cream pills, none of it worked for sleep. The only thing that works for me is Prempro. I know all the dangers. After not sleeping good for 15 years I think this cannot be good for me either. According to my doctor my thyroid is fine. I have been to three doctors over the last two years, then I read about menopause insomnia. I am finally sleeping for the first time since I turned 40. I wish you all the best and don't stop with one doctor.

I have been charting bbt and using opks for over a year. Every cycle except for one, I ovulated on cd17. The one exception was on cd16. So if I indeed did ovulate this month as indicated by bbt and +opk, then technically would it be okay to start prometrium in 1dpo???

I started prometrium yesterday 100 mg 2x a day. I decided to take a hpt even though it is early to see what it says and it was a bfn. I did buy a cheap test from the $store as I have spent so much money on hpt in the last couple months. I have not had any spotting or bleeding. Has anyone else had this happen and have a BFP? I am trying to keep my hopes up and I know its still early to get an accurate reading on a hpt. Any advice would help... Thanks!!

I have had 3 past m/c, but 3 healthy children since the last one. I found out Thurs. I was pregnant. I called my ob. He started me on Prometrium 200 mg vaginally per day. I started that Friday night. Sat. afternoon I had some brown spotting. Was checked at ER and everything ok. hcg was 17-they said was very early.They also checked my progesterone level. Sat. night late had heavier red bleeding like period. Went back to ER they said was m/c most likely.

The doctor prescribed prometrium for her. She is scared to death to take the medication because it has a strong warning on the label "DO NOT TAKE IF PREGNANT OR ANTICIPATE GETTING PREGNANT. Why would the doctor prescribe prometrium if the twin is OK at this time?
