prometrium for irregular periods

i have absent periods, i take prometrium to have a period then start clomid. this is my fourth round.

m a 24 y/o F who has been trying to get pregnant since last April. I have very irregular and missed periods so my Dr. put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet. My breasts hurt and I'm nausous now that I'm NOT taking Prometrium.

Hey .. Do you have to take prometrium everyday of your cycle ? And not just the second half ? And from what I know.. progesterone has to be stopped for AF to come .. Have you talked to your doctor about this ? What does he say ?

I would also ask you a few more questions, like is this common for you to have irregular periods, and how old you are. Irregular bleeding is usually caused by failure to ovulate regularly which can be caused by many things: stress, weight changes, PCOS, polyps, peri-menopause, to name a few. Give your doctor a call to get this all sorted out. Its UNLIKELY to be serious, but should be sorted out. Good luck!

Anyway, I was wondering what your dr said about the prometrium helping you get preggo? I was just wondering what other uses they use prometrium for besides starting periods..

I've had 3 miscarriages in the past and my boyfriend and I have den ttc for the last 6 months with no luck. My Obgyn diagnosed me with PCOS and then I did blood work on day 21 of my cycle and they said I didn't ovulate. She wants to start me on prometrium on day 21 of my next cycle. My periods are irregular and sometimes my cycles can be 40-50 days apart. Has anyone been on this medicAtion before? Does it help ovulate?

I'm having very irregular periods right now - the doctor's not sure what's going on but is prescribing Prometrium to get things regulated. I'm 46 though & it's possible it could be perimenopause which can start anytime in the 40s.

But last 8 months I am having problem with my periods, It starts every month but last for more than 20 days and then I have take medicine to stop that, My doctor gave me Prometrium to control the periods. Now recently in an ultrasound it is discovered that my uterus lining is 14 mm, which is, suppose to be 4 mm. I am little worried about that. But still doctors are saying it is okay and I can still conceive in this situation also, even though I am bleeding for month. I am over weight too.

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. Do you know if you are ovulating? I know in the past I had weird periods when I wasn't ovulating. It is fairly common for the first few cycles to be irregular. Also, if your periods were irregular before you went on pills, it will very likely be irregular again when you are off them. One thing I sometimes do in this type of case is to give the patient 5 days of Prometrium. Infertility doctors sometimes use this drug to support a pregnancy, preventing miscarriage. If you are not pregnant it will induce your period so you can move on to the next ovulation and try again.

My Dr has prescribed Prometrium 200mgs to be taken for the 1st 5 days of my next period. Everything I have read about this is that it is usually prescribed for 10 days before your period, so I am confused. Also, he mentioned that Prometrium will help protect me from endometrial cancer and possibly breast cancer. I read that it may increase the risk of breast cancer so I am totally confused. My husband and I are now trying to get pregnant and I have been diagnosed with PCOS. Since I was 13 I have been on BC and I have always had very irregular periods. After my diagnosis my OB put me back on low dose BC but I wasn't having a period so with the consent of my OB I went off BC in April. It has now been 8 months with no period, spotting, cramps, etc. I do have lower abdominal pain like an aching sensation during intercourse and not. I am taking prenatal vitamins now by nature made.

Perimenopause usually occurs with irregular periods and menstruation is not expected to stop abruptly. This could be perimenopause or a hormonal issue. No matter when you period starts again after birth I think its normal to be a little irregular for a while, but I cant speak for everyone. I got mine around week 7 after having my last DS and I thought it was late the 1st month and that I was pregnant because it was 5 days later than it had ever been. Sometimes it can take a few months to regulate other time longer but if you were regular befor you should start to notice a pattern soon.

Hi ladies well its day 51 and no af or positve test, last tested on day 48, i dont have regular cycles but never gone this long have appt in 2 weeks with gp to discuss irregularity of periods and trying to concieve. under right armpit tender this morning so maybe af on way. im hoping i ovulateed late in cycle therfore maybe bot enough hcg to detect.

I have been having irregular periods for about 8 months. I went to the dr recently and they did a bunch of tests. the dr started me on birth control pills to try to regulate my period then i received a call stating my uterine lining is a little thicker than usual. t have a clear O day, how long should I wait to be for sure I am not pregnant? Also if I continue on the prometrium will my Af eventually come? If I stop the prometrium too soon and am possibly pregnant would I lose the baby?

What my OB/GYN as well as my fertility specialist have prescribed me is a pill called Prometrium. I take that for 5-7 days out of the month and usually within two weeks of starting the first pill I have a period.

I took Prometrium for 12 nights, started my period AGAIN during the cycle, but I believed I ovulated this past weekend which would be about right since period is due again June 6.

She put me on Provera for 4 weeks.... Take three tables everday for 7 days, then 2 every day for 7 days, then 1 every day for 14 days. It completely "empty" you out. :). I would strongly recommend you to see a doc at a health clinic or plan- parenthood. You can google both free clinics on the internet. PLEASE PLEASE see a doc. I bled out so much, now I am up to 2000 mg of iron a day. Not fun.
