I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.

The 2mg dose of estrace seemed to help with the mood swings but the sweating and frontal hair loss has been devastating to me to say the least.The Dr. now has me on 100mg of prometrium together with 1 mg of Estrace, but stated to me that I shouldn't really need the prometrium beings I don't have a Uterus anymore.Am I going to keep loosing my hair like this?I'm sick about it b/c my hair is already so fine and thin. What can I do?

Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel. What other alternatives would you suggest to the 100 mg. prometrium?

Hi. I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience.... Long story short, I had a radical hysterectomy (actually, everything out except the cervix) 10 months ago. After being on synthetic estrogen (Enjuvia) for many months and not feeling well at all, I finally found myself a better doctor who listened to my symptoms and put me on the Vivelle Dot patch (bioidentical estradiol), .075 I've been on that for about 3 weeks now, maybe 4.

I have almost 600 of them, but most are on surgical adhesions and bioidentical hormones. I think it is criminal that more women do not know about all the options that are there for them. But, then again, I have researched this stuff since 2001. I would encourage you to pick up Northrup's book "The Wisdom of Menopause." It literally saved my life. And, it helped me understand the work that hormones do for us. We really are our hormones. And the interplay they have with one another..

I have recently been prescribed prometrium200mg 2 times a day. I'm 10dpo and af is due tomorrow. My progesterone was 13 on a non-medicated cycle. She says she likes to see the progesterone level at 20 even before a pregnancy. What is the benefit or reason behind taking the progesterone/prometrium before one is even pregnant? I'm just not a fan of taking it as I've heard it may delay af if I'm not pg. Any ideas as to why my RE wants me to take it b/4 a BFP?

t mind, what exactly did the doctor give you? Is is Provera, Prometrium, or Natural (bioidentical or botanical) Progesterone. Are you having pain with the bleeding? I have never had hemorids but I had a very difficult time with anal fissures which I eventually had to have surgery for back in 1990. Those were very painful. Back to the concern about the mass and the cysts. I assume the doctor is hoping to shrink them by using the progesterone....is that right?

This one at 3wks 6 days was 37 before starting prometrium however I started spotting especially when trying to go so the dr has me taking prometrium now 3x's a day. Normally I take it 2x's a day 100mg each time. I did find out that too high progesterone levels causes constipation and heart burn which is probably why I now have both.

s nothing worked I tried 100 mg of Prometrium and it made me feel sick the whole next day. I tried bioidentical hormones, troches, cream pills, none of it worked for sleep. The only thing that works for me is Prempro. I know all the dangers. After not sleeping good for 15 years I think this cannot be good for me either. According to my doctor my thyroid is fine. I have been to three doctors over the last two years, then I read about menopause insomnia.

Due to complexity of hormonal imbalances in PCOS bioidentical hormones is not the best treatment option. Contraceptive pills can be effective at first but promote insulin resistance in the long-term. You need to reverse insulin resistance in order to overcome PCOS. The best way to do it is a special diet without simple carbohydrates, sugars and sweets. Regular exercise are also very helpfull. I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.

She said there is an increased cancer risk associated with both progesterone and estrogen supplementation. Since I have high risk HPV (cancer causing) I should not take these supplements. Does anybody know anything about the increased cancer risk associated with bioidentical hormone enhancement???

Does anyone know if you're taking Prometrium, and you are miscarrying, can the prometrium prevent any sign of the m/c ? i.e. can it prevent spotting/bleeding/cramping , or will the m/c go through anyway.?

Hi Bob and Angela, I had a hysterectomy 21 years ago with removal of ovaries. For the last 4 years, I've used bioidentical hormone pellets. These pellets are implanted under the skin of my hip. I get estrogen and testosterone. Estrogen for hot flashes, night sweats, dry skin, anxiety. moodiness. Testosterone for my sex drive. Prior to the pellets, I was on estrogen and managed those symptoms. For 16 years, I had little sex drive.

Yes, Prometrium does delay your AF. First time when i was on prometrium, i didn't get my AF until CD40.

I would recommend seeing a doctor that specializes in bioidentical hormones and menopause. As we age, we produce less estrogen which is important in preventing vaginal atrophy and lubrication and testosterone which is absolutely key to our libido and all things sexual, our ability to become aroused, our sensitivity and ability/quality of orgasm. I have estrogen and testosterone implants in my hip and I can say they work! There are options and there is no need for you to lose your sex drive.

Find a bioidentical hormone dr or antiaging dr who can give you "natural" bioidentical hormones so your body will accept them. Just google and you will find a lot in your town. Synthetic hormones are not always good for you as your body has told you already!!

I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..

My first dr. gave me premarin ( not bioidentical-synthetic) and I thought I would go crazy. She never checked my levels prior. New dr. checked me, I am estrogen dominant, so that is why I felt so bad. and extremely low in progesterone. I am now on low dose of bioidentical progesterone, feeling somewhat better. I just had my levels rechecked after 6 months due to change in symtoms ( lots of hot flashes). Awaiting resutls, but I am sure my progestrone is low again because of terrible, insomnia.

I am supposed to stop my prometrium when I'm 10w which is this thursday, but I have read that some people have miscarried because ur body is not making enough progesterone of its own. I been trying to get preggo for almost 4 yrs and to miscarried now would be devestating. I have also heard that if ur preggo with twins which I am its good to keep taking the prometrium to minimize the chances of premature labor.

Anyway, I had started prometrium 100mg 2x a day 5 dpo. Since BFN this month I am wondering if the prometrium will have screwed things up for next month? Doesn't it prevent o? I stopped taking it last nite, but I hope that its not to late and I'll still be able to get a BFP next month.

I got mine the next day, as soon as I stopped prometrium I started spotting and the next day I got my AF.
