Prometrium and trying to conceive

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium and trying to conceive

prometrium

Avatar f tn After of years of being given birth control, my new doctor just put me on metformin and prometrium in July. My fiancee and I are now trying to conceive. I found a pharmacy that says that metformin shouldn't be taken for kids under the age of 10. I'm sure you're wayyyy over that age.
322099 tn?1210273164 I had my 1st cycle trying IUI and prometrium, Dr told me if after 14 past IUI BFN then stop prometrium. Friday was 14 days and of course BFN I stopped in the am and am wondering when AF will show.
1262373 tn?1281543782 I think what you're talking about is Prometrium. It's more or less Progesterone and is used in women who have a history of miscarriages and can help if you're trying to conceive. There's more uses, but this is the main one I know of.
Avatar f tn m 23 and a newlywed and my husband and I have been trying for about a year to conceive. But I was recently just diagnosed with PCOS. I was put on the metformin and nothing changed and I still have not had a period. I actually haven't had one in 3 years. Ive been loosing hope on having a baby and this has become very fustrating for me. Any advice?
Avatar f tn Hi im 20, i am currently 5 weeks pregnant after trying for about 3 years, i found out about a year ago i had pcos and so i had to take clomid to help me conceive, i have just started taking pregnacare original and i was wondering if anyone knows if this will help prevent miscarrying? i know it wont stop it completely but just wanted to know if it would help.
Avatar f tn I had laproscopic surgery to get rid of it and was then on prometrium to raise my progesterone level and clomid to aid in ovulation and conception. Clomid is pms x1000. It makes you feel very crabby, headaches and your breast hurt. My husband said, how are we going to have sex when you are acting like a *****! It took 3 months to conceive once I had surg. and was on meds.
Avatar f tn i m married since last 2 years and was trying to conceive when my gyne suggested i have bicornate/septate uterus (after going through the hysterosalpingogram test). my gyne suggested laproscopy so that he can see wether its bicornate or septate uterus, and if i have endometrioses and any other cyst. but before he could perform laproscopy i got pregnant. he gave me some support pills to make the baby servive.
1262373 tn?1281543782 My progesterone dropped and my dr gave it to me to build my levels up and prevent a miscarriage due to low levels. The meds won't force a miscarriage, if anything they will give it something to implant to and raise your levels to help better sustain your pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Once I start a period (if that happens) when I finish the prometrium my OB wants me to do a 3 FSH test and see if I can conceive during the three months of testing. If not, then my impression is that I need to accept the fact that I will not be a mother. I am very new to all of this and stressed out and saddened by this news. Is is really all that impossible or so rare that I should just hang it up???? Is there anything I can do to be more aggressive? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hello! My husband and I are now trying to get pregnant and I have been diagnosed with PCOS. Since I was 13 I have been on BC and I have always had very irregular periods. After my diagnosis my OB put me back on low dose BC but I wasn't having a period so with the consent of my OB I went off BC in April. It has now been 8 months with no period, spotting, cramps, etc. I do have lower abdominal pain like an aching sensation during intercourse and not.
Avatar f tn I had three consecutive miscarriages before my doctor figured out what the problem was!! I finally had my son, who is now 3 1/2 years old and trying to conceive again!
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on Prometrium for low progesterone levels. I'm trying to get pregnant and i spot for several days before my period each month. This is my first month taking it and the spotting started earlier than normal. Is this normal the first month you take it? Does your body just need time to get used to the medication?
Avatar f tn hey....I want to concieve... before that I want to share my history ..in short I have a son and that is after I got icsi procedure .bcz of endometriosis.but the defeated cyst has been removed before icsi ..now I called my doctor for tell me can I conceive naturally; but he said you can't .but why: my other ovary is fine and why can't I...I was having pregnacare to conceive I have seven days left to my due date..
Avatar n tn It would be worthwhile to test both of you if only one of you was tested 2) I doubt that the single strand MTHFR finding is significant, but agree that extra folic acid cannot hurt and might help 3) I would hesitate to start prometrium on day 12 of your cycle. Prometrium is given to treat luteal phase defect, but there really is no evidence that we are able to diagnose luteal phase defect, or that luteal phase defect causes recurrent pregnancy loss.
1262373 tn?1281543782 I would have asked my doc these questions but I thought that it was the same a plain progesterone which I have taken before. Also for the Poll If you took prometrium and it helped you conceive did you get a boy or a girl!! We are using shettles method to sway for a boy. We have 2 girls.
419008 tn?1219536438 I have had 4 miscarriages now (not back to back - I do have 2 little gils 4 and 10mos). Whit my girls I had to be on prometrium because my progesterone levels never went up correctly. I recently had a m/c and I am now in my 1st tww since. My doc has prescribed prometrium to take this time around - (I didn't have enough time to get to docs and stat meds before last m/c).
934644 tn?1245336749 My HCG was 263 so they did a follow up test a week later. My progesterone rose to 17.6(taking 200 mg prometrium again) and my HCG rose to 1862. I go back this Tuesday for another blood test. I have looked and looked to find a chart with the normal HCG and progesterone levels only to find most charts have different numbers. I am worried something will go wrong again and that is the hardest part to get over. Do my levels seem to be in a good range?
Avatar f tn Tashas right...
I know that the meds are not supposed to influence the gender but some can - for instance clomid makes a womans vaginal secretions more acidic which produces more girls.
Avatar f tn I'd love some wisdom from everyone! Anyone! I'm 6 weeks pregnant and started bleeding Tuesday. It was not typical miscarriage symptoms but that is how my miscarriage in 2006 started out (as a little bleeding). So naturally I FLIP. We've been trying for this baby for 13 months, with PCOS and went through Clomid (did not conceive on Clomid but instead conceived when we STOPPED trying and moved on with our lives... go figure!). I want this baby more than anything right now.
Avatar f tn I am wondering should I be taking a low dose asprin every day while trying to conceive. Each miscarriage seems to get closer to conception and I wonder if there is anything I can do to help?
922048 tn?1387942584 My first testing of progesterone was .47 and last month was .37. My husband and I are trying to conceive so I have been placed on Clomid. It had no effect the first month so my prescription was boosted to 100mg. I have to take Provera to cause AF because of this issue. They completely quit happening last November and I finally gave in and saw a doctor in February when I tested negative for pregnancy.
Avatar f tn My husband and I have been trying to conceive since September, 2008 with no baby yet. The doctors know that I have endometriosis and have tested me for P.C.O.S. but all the test results have come back that I DON'T have PCOS which is definately a blessing. However, I had a laparoscopic surgery in December of 2008 to take out any endometrial cells and ever since then, my periods have been completely irregular to non-existant.
Avatar n tn Hi all I'm new to this forum and I've been trying to conceive for some time. I have Graves' disease as well as a little polycystic ovaries. I've had my Thyroid levels checked and they are okay. So on 2 days ago I had my ultrasound for my polycystic but I have to wait 2 weeks for the results. I want wanting to know if having any of these could hinder me from trying to conceive.
Avatar n tn Hi Amy, You can find Dr. Lupo, in the Ask the doctor forum. In the right column of the forums main page.
