Prograf level kidney transplant

Common Questions and Answers about Prograf level kidney transplant

prograf

Avatar f tn I had kidney transplant 2004 my prgraf level is suppose to run between 6-8 I can tell when it gets to high by the way I feel. I had open heart surgery 10-09 have a mechanical valve and take coumadin, That is causing trouble with my prograf levels going up and down Thank goodness I have such good Physcians and they keep up with the dosage changes.
Avatar f tn For this reason, it works as an anti-rejection medicine. Prograf helps patients who have had a liver/kidney transplant protect their new organ and prevent it from being rejected by the body. This medicine can cause the amount of potassium in your blood-stream to increase. For this reason you should avoid large amounts of foods that have a high potassium content, for example dried fruit, bananas, tomatoes and low sodium salt, while you are taking this medicine, also avoid potassium supplements.
Avatar n tn I believe that diarrhea can cause an elevation in Prograf level. Taking Prograf with food can decrease absorption and result in a lower Prograf level. This is even more pronounced if you take it with fatty food. If Prograf doesn't upset your stomach it is best taken about 1 hour before eating - on an empty stomach. The range on my labs sheet is 4 - 16 so you are well within range.
Avatar n tn Two doctors, two conclusions. My transplant was Dec, 2, 2013. Just after the transplant I was on 10 mg. of Prograf a day for a couple of months or more. Slowly, after time, the doctor lowered it to 4 mg. daily. After two years I'm now at 3 mg. daily. The interesting point here is this: The hepatologist that treated me for 13 years before my transplant saw my latest blood work of six weeks ago and he would have me on 1 mg. a day.
Avatar n tn My history: liver transplant 1 year ago, had 2 moderate rejections and 1 mild since transplant. At present time having moderate rejection, recently had one portal stent and 8 Bilary ERCP's to remove stones and sludge and had stenting done, and at the present time there are no blockages. Was on Rapamune (5mg a day) prior to hernia surgery and then week before hernia surgery was put on Prograf (4mg a day) and taken off the Rapamune. I have been on Progaf since hernia surgery (8 weeks ago).
Avatar f tn Prograf is toxic and in the long run it can cause kidney failure. Right after my transplant, I was put on 10 mg. Prograf daily. Gradually, the doctor lowered it to 5, then 4, and so on. Last month, the doctor lowered it to 1.5 mg. daily. That is low and I had to give blood one month after the dosage was lowered so the doctor could see if it was too low. I'm happy now with 1.5 mg. In a few months, I will again as the doctor to lower it.
Avatar f tn It doesnt appear that the ascites is large enough to cause any symptoms. Its OK for the prograf level to be this low 7 years out from liver transplantation.
Avatar m tn My current dose is Prograf 3 mg AM/ Prograf 3 mg PM and Rapamune 4 mg AM. The intent is to convert me to 100% Rapamune because of the nephro-toxicity of the Prograf and my young age and because of the anti-cancer properties of Rapamune. Data, while horribly limited, has shown Rapamune's anti-cancer properties have had success against vascular tumors such as mine so EHE, in this case chronic, is part of the cancers Rapamune affects (some cancers it has no effect).
Avatar m tn My doctors want to start treatment to clear the virus. I take Prograf for the liver transplant and I know Naragenin affects the Prograf levels. My question is if during treatment I also took Naragenin and my prograf levels were closely watched and adjusted for the Naragenin effects, wouldn't I have a better chance of clearing the virus.
Avatar m tn t understand the relationship between treatment and Prograf dose. It sounds logical to think that the higher the Prograf dose the less likely TX will be successful and, at the extreme, I think that's probably true. But, whether 3 mg per day or 6 mg Prograf per day makes any difference is a question I cannot answer. When I treated there was a reluctance to dose the way a non-transplant patient would have been dosed and that can be and, in my case, was problematic.
Avatar f tn My husband had a liver transplant on Aug.5th - and has been **** well. Today he broke out in hives all over his head. He is itching terribly - and the 2nd Benadryl hasn't helped. He is on Cellcept, prograf, and is in a clinical trial (so we don't really know what the extra meds are). Should we be concerned???
1360689 tn?1277707383 I am post liver transplant patient since 1997 taking 0.5mg prograf 1.
Avatar f tn I went into rejection twice in the hospital and because of this my transplant team saw it best to put me on 5mg of prograf twice a day as well as 4 mg of rapimune, which by the way was off label and i had to sign a release form for. Just within the past 2 months they lowerd my dosage of rapimune to 2mg but kept the prograf the same. My question to you is exactly how suppressed is my immune system?
29837 tn?1414534648 05mg daily of Prograf. Has anyone who had a liver transplant gotten off the Prograf completely? Inquiring minds want to know.
Avatar n tn The new drugs for hep c have eradicated my disease. I was 2 years post Transplant ( kidney and liver). UCLA treated me with Olysio and Solvaldi. I an now viral free!
Avatar m tn Post transplants should be aware that Sovaldi increases effects of prograf, so prograf level has to be checked and the dose may need to be adjusted. Feeling better with each day, more energy, liver enzymes normal. So there is hope for all post-transplants! Wishing SVR to all of you!
Avatar m tn I got a kidney transplant in May 2000..2004 my disability and medicare got canceled.. so I have not been able to afford the extremely expensive immunnosuppression medication Prograf..well its 2010 and im still here ..this world really bothers me with the lack of geniune caring for those who have been dealt a bad deck..My name is Trek im 38 who had beautiful daughter after kidney failure. Need let help here...advice knowledge whatever also looking for work!!!!
Avatar f tn Almost 4 months post transplant and have been experiencing a dull headache for the last few weeks, everyday. It is a dull headache and the discomfort is random...sometimes its on the left side of the head, sometimes on the right, sometimes between the eyes, etc. It's not a migraine, but a dull pain, nagging pain. Can this be a side effect from any of the medications? Pentamidine (aerosol) 1x monthly, Prograf 2mg 2x daily, metroprolol tartarate 12.
Avatar f tn My liver transplant was a great success, but after leaving hospital,I began to have periods of breathlessness. This has now got much worse-just walking a few steps or climbing the stairs makes it worse.I am taking 6 mg of prograf daily (3mg in the morning and 3mg in the evening) and 1000mg of microphenolate per day together with 5mg of prednisolone.Do you think my problem is caused by these drugs,or do you think there is more to it?
29837 tn?1414534648 He is very aggressive yet cautious in lowering this anti-rejection medicine. In the long run, Prograf can cause kidney failure because it is toxic. So when he lowers it, I have do blood work in one month to see if the volume of Prograf in my body isn't too low, otherwise, I would have to go back to the former dosage. Dec. 3rd will be four years post transplant and time for celebration. Doctor said one glass of champagne is not the end of the world, so there...
Avatar f tn m genotype 2, almost 3 years post transplant, on prograf, and just finished 24 weeks of interferon/riba tx, undetected since week 4. Is there a reason they don't want to switch you to prograf?
Avatar f tn I take Prograf for the liver transplant and I know Naragenin affects the Prograf levels. My question is if during treatment I also took Naragenin and my prograf levels were closely watched and adjusted for the Naragenin effects, wouldn't I have a better chance of clearing the virus.
163305 tn?1333668571 They are both being treated by my doctor who leads the hepatitis and transplant program at the UCSF transplant center. I imagine it will take at least a year (when the results data can be reviewed) to see how effective the new meds are in comparison to past experiences with SOC. Here is a link to SOC treatment in transplant patients written in 2006.... http://sadieo.ucsf.edu/course/old/HCV-LT.pdf Do you have any questions in particular?
Avatar f tn t keep and process the needed level of Prograf and because of that occurs rejection. Is this posible to happen because of the feeding?
Avatar n tn I was diabetic since I was in 5th grade, but five years ago had a kidney;pancreas transplant. Since then I have been on three kinds of drugs for my transplant. Cellcept, Predizone, and Prograf are the drugs that I am taking. With these drugs along with having diabetes up until 5 years ago affect my chances of producing a child. I am also 32 years of age.
