As you might now, there are currently 3 widely accepted forms of bipolar disorder, that is, bipolar type I, bipolar type II, and cyclothymia. However, a spectrum view of bipolar disorder is becoming popular. For example, you can picture a line with unipolar depression (major depression only) at point A, and with full blown bipolar type I at the end of the line, point B. If a person has major depression only, then they will fall close to point A on the line.

Seroquel is approved for (1) depressive episodes in bipolar disorder in adults; (2) manic episodes in bipolar disorder in adults when used alone or with lithium or divalproex; (3) manic episodes in bipolar disorder in children and adolescents ages 10 to 17 years; (4) long-term treatment of bipolar disorder in adults with lithium or divalproex; (5) schizophrenia in adults and (6) schizophrenia in adolescents ages 13-17 years.

1, is pristiq even used for anxiety? i went on the website and read NOTHING that said GAD/panic. 2. my doc said i can just cut my klonopin dosage back to .25 mg am/pm today. no need to taper down since its only been 2 weeks? im not too sure about that? should i just taper down anyways, and if so how do i do it? thanks for any help!

Common misdiagnoses of hypothyroidism include depression, dementia, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder (especially rapid-cycling bipolar disorder). The two most common causes of primary hypothyroidism are Hashimoto's thyroiditis (autoimmune condition) and overtreatment of hyperthyroidism.

Ask your psychiatrist what your primary diagnosis because neither of those medications are mood stabilizers (one is of course for ADHD, one for depression). If they diagnosed bipolar they would adjust your treatment but only a psychiatrist could provide a diagnosis but in the meantime you can look up some information on the websites we have linked up such as "Depression Central" (for all mood disorders).

m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.

Thank you so much for responding. Physically all is well. My pdoc thinks it’s bipolar 2 but I don’t get manic. I have pretty much all the anxieties(social, health, generalized etc) she doesn’t want to go higher in the pristiq or lamictal just add another drug. Feel like a guinea pig sometimes. If your initial therapy was Ativan and Abilify, you were likely targeted for bipolar disorder. In depression, the indication is for add on treatment for resistant depression. Both pristiq and abilify are expesive therapies. Abilify affects Dopamine by partially stimulating dopamine receptors while also putting the brakes on intrinsic dopamine via affects on certain seratonin receptors.

However, if you are still feeling down even though you are on the medications (Pristiq is more for bipolar disorder, I believe), then you may want to switch to another medication. I was on Effexor which made me manic, then I tried Wellbutrin which made me more depressed and finally wound up with Prozac which seems to be working pretty well, except for the sexual side effects, but those are common with any SSRI and SNRI.

I am taking 50mg pristiq for generalized anxiety disorder brought on by my graves disease. I have notice i am becoming more combative with friends and family. I am bothered by the slightlest things and I am getting aggressive? is this due to the medication?

m wondering whether that bipolar disorder diagnosis is correct. Might be, might not be -- bipolar is a fad diagnosis right now, way over-diagnosed, because there are "new" types of it that aren't true bipolar but are just describing the symptoms some get from suffering depression. These categories are usually devised by pharmaceutical companies to sell more drugs.

is adderall being used for manic depressive/ bipolar disorder, especially when all other treatments have been ineffective even ect the persons mind is racing, foot is shaking, but body cannot get in action., like add of the mind.

Pristiq is not a first choice of doctors for an anti-depressant, but perhaps your doctor has a reason for you taking it. Or perhaps you have tried other anti-depressants that haven't worked. Effexor was the anti-depressant that worked for me out of the several that I tried. (I never tried a lot of them). Pristiq is a newer upgraded version of it. So I am also taking 50 mg of Pristiq because it restored my sex drive after taking Effexor for many years.

I have been recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and am currently taking the medication ABILIFY..... i have noticed lapses in my memory and difficulty concentrating. Also i can't shake the lethargy either. I am just concerned with the quality of my life because the side effects of my medication are really affecting me. The reason i have continued on this medication is becuase it is one of the only antipsych medications approved for adolescents according to my psych doc.

I took Abilify for almost a year for Bipolar Disorder II, both in combination with Lithium and on it's own. When I was on the Abilify alone, I noticed uneasyness and racing thought, similar to what cowgirlnerd said. I felt more hypomanic than usual, so I suppose it had kind of an "upper" effect for me. When used in combination with the Lithium, I felt much more balnanced and steady.

t until then that I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder while I was receiving treatment for my depression. Not only that but without treatment kids will most likely try to self medicate with drugs if not taken care of. My cousin is in rehab right now for her addictions and she didn't start treatment until she was 22. So again, with PROPER counseling it's better to catch the problem early on before it's too late.

I switched from 150 mg Effexor (3 months) to 50 mg Pristiq (2 months). Gained lots of weight on Effexor. On Pristiq kept gaining weight plus my period never came back (2 months). Stopped Pristiq cold turkey because my doc told me it was either this (tablet should not be cut...risk of serotonyne syndrome) or going back to Effexor and counting beads. It´s been 2 weeks and I feel strong spasms in my brain. Like something is pressuring it, especially in the back of my head.

t really remember he is not avoiding the question. It is fairly common for people with bipolar disorder to not remember the details of episodes. I am not saying it is always easy to live with someone who had bipolar disorder at times but if you truly love him it is something you can get through and have it grow a deeper relationship with each other. Has anyone else been diagnosed with Soft Bipolar Disorder? I recently was and I am looking for others with whom I can share experiences and support through the ups and downs. i have major depressive disorder, dysthimic disorder, and panic disorder. i am on 10 mg lisinopril daily (blood pressure), klonopin 1 mg 3 x daily, pristiq 50 mg daily, lyrica 200 mg daily, protonix 40 mg daily, and 7.5/325 mg of norco 3 x daily. I've never had performance issues until a few days ago with a new relationship that i dont want to **** up because she is a very positive and awesome person. im freaking out about being 26 yrs old and having performance issues.

Bipolar I requires a full manic or mixed episode. Bipolar II requires at least one full depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode, with no full manic or mixed episodes.
