Does this program provide help for those afflicted with Bipolar disorder and Borderline personality disorder?

m now on Pristiq which is Effexor metabolite. Pristiq is less side effects. Both may work differently. For me, Pristiq work better. Pristiq may also reduce sexual desire but not like Effexor. Also, it work differently from one to another. Google on Pristiq if it available where you live.

Thank you so much for responding. Physically all is well. My pdoc thinks it’s bipolar 2 but I don’t get manic. I have pretty much all the anxieties(social, health, generalized etc) she doesn’t want to go higher in the pristiq or lamictal just add another drug. Feel like a guinea pig sometimes. And I think you are right about the depression. Thanks again.

Ask your psychiatrist what your primary diagnosis because neither of those medications are mood stabilizers (one is of course for ADHD, one for depression). If they diagnosed bipolar they would adjust your treatment but only a psychiatrist could provide a diagnosis but in the meantime you can look up some information on the websites we have linked up such as "Depression Central" (for all mood disorders).

I suggest that you request tests for Free T3 and free T4 (not Total T3 and T4), along with TSH they always test. Might also be good to test for Reverse T3. Also, be aware that a test that falls in the low end of the range may not be adequate.

1, is pristiq even used for anxiety? i went on the website and read NOTHING that said GAD/panic. 2. my doc said i can just cut my klonopin dosage back to .25 mg am/pm today. no need to taper down since its only been 2 weeks? im not too sure about that? should i just taper down anyways, and if so how do i do it? thanks for any help!

I switched from 150 mg Effexor (3 months) to 50 mg Pristiq (2 months). Gained lots of weight on Effexor. On Pristiq kept gaining weight plus my period never came back (2 months). Stopped Pristiq cold turkey because my doc told me it was either this (tablet should not be cut...risk of serotonyne syndrome) or going back to Effexor and counting beads. It´s been 2 weeks and I feel strong spasms in my brain. Like something is pressuring it, especially in the back of my head.

He said it was to boost the effectiveness of the 100mg Pristiq he just bumped me up to. All the information i can find says its for Bipolor Depression, but i dont have Bipolar depressrion. Anyone have any reviews on this?

If adjunct to an MS then this OK of course like I do it myself, now I take stablon (an SSRE) but take along with seroquel to cover it up. In which case antidepressants are safe for a bipolar and i believe this is what most bipolars do. In fact, most bipolars are not contented with an MS and take along an AD BUT not an AD alone to guarantee safety and this is what IL is saying .

I have had the absolute worst anxiety since I was 2 years old. I started taking Lexapro...but that didnt do anything for me. Then I took Pristiq....and my anxiety went from 100% 24/7 to almost 0...in a matter of 2 weeks. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. I take 50mg which I believe is one of the lowest doses and it worked absolute wonders on me. Everyone is different, but i definitely would encourage you to try it.

Yeah i know cymbalta isnt a SSRI its jus that use both word so often that when im typin fast i might confuse them, you are right and it's a SNRIS ( serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor ) sorry for the confusion it may have lead to. But thanks for corecting me it's really important to me to be always right when talking about meds.

I was on Celexa, for 3 months last year but it didn't do much for me, in fact it was like i wasn't on it at all, the only bad side effect was loss of sex drive and libido etc. no weight gain or loss that i noticed. I have bipolar 1, and was on other medication at the time. as you probably know everyone is different when it comes to these types of medication so please don't be discouraged by my comment.

You were on a pretty high dose of Zoloft for 3 years. If I were you I would call my Dr and tell her you need a much longer tapering plan. In my opinion, 9 days is way too fast to get off of this med. No wonder you're having the shocks and nightmares. No one should have to go through this. Be persistent with your Dr. Remember that she works for you, not the other way around.

However, if you are still feeling down even though you are on the medications (Pristiq is more for bipolar disorder, I believe), then you may want to switch to another medication. I was on Effexor which made me manic, then I tried Wellbutrin which made me more depressed and finally wound up with Prozac which seems to be working pretty well, except for the sexual side effects, but those are common with any SSRI and SNRI.

my psychiatrist said the 50mg of Pristiq was too strong for me, so essentially he wanted to keep me on the 'same' medication but at a lower dose.

m taking 50mg pristiq and 75 mg effexor daily for 7 days, and then 50mg pristiq and 37.5mg effexor for the next 7 days. My therapist has suggested this dosing to make the transition gradual. I was just curious as to anyone elses experience with such a change, good or bad.

I ended up on 100Mgs a day with Pristiq and took it for a good 5 months, it worked ok, but not well enough to cover my symptoms. I then got off Pristiq. (I must tell you that the withdrawl from Pristiq is very strong. MUCH worse than even with Cymbalta or Effexor. My best results were with Effexor XR (a couple years before the Cymbalta and pristiq problem) Effexor XR just worked much better.

I was on a higher than normal dosage of Pristiq for about 8 months. Even at 100Mgs a day (that's high for Pristiq) I never did get full relief from my depression or anxiety. Granted my depression is severe, but this Pristiq just failed to help it. It's called Panvenlafaxine (kind of a sister drug to Effexor) and the two drugs have much the same structure. At one time Effexor at high dosage did help me a lot, but this Pristiq never did a damn thing to help me.

Trying to treat her anxiety, Dr prescribed Pristiq to which after 4 days her side effets were too much for her, showed a glimpses of calmness however would wake up feeling agitated and out of sorts. It even took 2-3 days to get over withdrawl of pristiq even from such a short period.

m actually not really seeing him anymore, after a second opinion confirmed he was mis-managing my thryoid disease and making me sicker.. he also prescribed this pristiq for thyroid disease because he believed my insomnia, stress, and high blood pressure meant I was mentally ill. Now that I've discovered the real problem - Hashimoto's thyroid disease, I'm still stuck on Pristiq. Anywho.. I will definitely check w/ the pharmacy.

ve been on pristiq and ativan for a Month now for anxiety and panic attacks. Neither seem to help but I am giving it another month just because I have been in very stressful situations lately that just might be too overwhelming for the medication to help.

I've been on Pristiq. My GP gave it to me. I've been on it for about 6 months and it's fine for me. It's most effective dose is 50mg, which is equivalant to 150mg Effexor XR I was told. My psychiatrist switched me to Effexor because he says they are the same and I am tapering off. I did NOT gain weight on Pristiq and I think the sexual side effects weren't as bad. I can tell the difference on Effexor.

ve recently been experiencing panic attacks. My Dr added Pristiq to my treatment. As I understand, Pristiq is a more purified form of Effexor. Since starting on the Pristiq two weeks ago, I have felt like pure poo poo. I went to a GP today, thinking I may have a virus or something. She said she would NEVER prescribe both Effexor and Pristiq together. I'm pretty confused on which doctor I'm supposed to believe. I'm going to try to stop the Pristiq, but am not sure what will happen.

5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.
