m assuming that you have a competent psychiatrist, who has placed you on Pristiq and told you to reduce your dosage of Klonopin without a gradual reduction, for a particular reason(s). Don't overthink everything, just follow the advice of your provider. No doctor here, that's on the mental health forum, but there's no equivalency between medications really, you never know how they're going to affect you or if they're going to work at all. Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri.

5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.

I have just started taking Pristiq after being on Effexor-XR for a long time and I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any good experiences with Pristiq, and if so could they please share them?

I was on a higher than normal dosage of Pristiq for about 8 months. Even at 100Mgs a day (that's high for Pristiq) I never did get full relief from my depression or anxiety. Granted my depression is severe, but this Pristiq just failed to help it. It's called Panvenlafaxine (kind of a sister drug to Effexor) and the two drugs have much the same structure. At one time Effexor at high dosage did help me a lot, but this Pristiq never did a damn thing to help me.

has anyone ever heard of the medicine call Pristiq? my doctor put me on it a couple of weeks ago and it is suppose to help with both depression and anxiety? Not sure it is doing it's job yet though. I take that and xanax for all it is worth. thx for the help.

Ive developed headaches and am severly tired...Ive been off the pristiq for three weeks....should i have tapered off the pristiq first even though they are suppose to be the same??? help please i dont know what to do and i cant take it anymore...

I'm on week 3 of Pristiq after Cymbalta pooped out on me after 5 successful yrs on it. First tried to switch me to Zoloft and that made me worse (February 2014). Until 3 weeks ago, they tried to add things to the Cymbakta (Abilify, buspar) but it wasn't working (for deoression/anxiety). 3 weeks ago to Pristiq 50mg.

Have you started tapering down your dosage per your doctor's instructions? Just make sure you are not adjusting dosage or quitting it without talking to your doctor first; just ensure you follow his/her instructions. Doing it on your own can cause many unpleasant symptoms that you would not really have to endure if you take it as prescribed.

I came off Lexapro 20mg (was not working anymore) and my doctor put me on Pristiq 50mg and xanax. The pristiq is working good but after a couple of months now I am not so sure. I take the Xanax at night because it helps me sleep. I am a 45 year old male and suffer from GAD and mild deppresion. Should I try something stronger or seek therapy or what? Has anyone else experienced this or on Pristiq? I feel like I am sputtering out here. Any help very much appreciated.

Because I felt as if my anxiety was taken care of, I decided to tackle my depression problem but doubling my pristiq dosage and start taking Welbutrin. All of a sudden my anxiety started increasing again, so after about 2 months I stopped Welbutrin...and here we are months later and my anxiety is getting worse and worse. Thats just a little background info....my question is, Should I look into taking a different medication?

t really doing much for me so my doctor got to to cut down and go on to pristiq, while I was cutting down the paxil my partner and I decided to TTC, I ask the doctor if I should still start pristiq but she told me not to as Pristiq is harmful during pregnancy. However it may be more harmful for you to stop taking it, especially if it will mess with your head whether your taking it for anxiety or depression.

Can I start these 2 meds at the same time … my Dr prescribed and went on vacation for 1 month I forgot if she said start pristiq first then start Abilify or did she say I can start them together ?

So, my dr just doubled my dosage of 50mg of pristiq to 100 two days ago. Now i feel numb, foggy, and like half of my memory is gone. Is this normal? Now he wants to add the Saraquol. My partner has just stopped taking Cymbalta (60 mg after 3 + years) and started taking Pristiq (50 mg). She has been on it for 6 days and she has had diarrhea and vomiting for 3 out of those 6 days. I've been on several diff types of anxiety meds and just a few weeks ago my dr. put me on a new one b/c the Wellbutrin wasn't working for me. He put me on "Pristiq", he told me it is a newer anxiety med, but it's basically a spin-off of "Effexor". I didn't like the Effexor, but the Pristiq is working great!

on Monday,Sept 5th had an appoitment with Psychiatrist, and after i explained her my symptons,( i also cried,was overwhelmed) she said I had a severe depression, so she also prescribed me Pristiq 50mg one tablet per day in the morning after breakfast. I'm so sorry that you are having trouble with your meds. I have gone through a lot of different meds and up and down depression and anxiety trying to find the right combination of meds that would work for me. It's really frustrating to go through and I completely understand what you are going through. It takes a while for antidepressants to build up in your system for them to start working. It usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks.

I have been on klonoipn for about 3 years..my dosage now is 6mg a day..I also take 50mg of pail and high dose of lamictil for anxiety, depression and mood stabilization..is there any hope of getting off the klonopin..my anxiety is very high as I am sure u can tell..please, all response is greatly appreciated?

Trazadone is pretty easy to wean from, I went down dramactically in my dosage without any effect - it comes out of the body very easily, Pristiq is a completely different story, that takes weeks. Are you being supervised while withdrawing?

Effexor and Pristiq are 99% the same drug in terms of active chemical. Pristiq being Desvenlafaxine and Effexor being Venlafaxine. In fact if you look at the molecular chart for the two drugs they even bind the same. Funny thing is you know why Weith pharm released Pristiq? (a drug much like Effexor) Because the 7 year patent on Effexor was close to an end and Weith didn't want to lose market share. In comes Pristiq (Name brand only for another 7 years) It's all about the money.

In fact, most Doctors have to re-adjust the dosage for their elderly patients on medications because the elderly respond differently to meds. So I guess what I'm saying is that your "elderly friend" should contact her/his Doctor immediately and let her/his Doctor know of these "agitate/angry" responses to her/his meds. Tarrie, since you came her on behalf of your elderly friend, maybe you can guide your friend in the process.
