I will only add one thing to Ryan's otherwise very good post. People do have different reactions to different drugs, even to Celexa and Lexapro or Pristiq and Effexor. While it's true the companies are trying to keep a patented product in their lineup, Lexapro seems to have fewer side effects than Celexa, but many people do find one or the other works better. Same probably with Pristiq and Effexor. But to prescribe both at once is insane.
The thought creates so much anxiety that I have panic attacks. This has left me seriously fed up and depressed. The thought is "what if my tattoo sleeve is cursed"? or "your tattoo is cursed". This has been going on for 3 months or so since I smoked some marijuana one night. I cant shake the thoughts! I have been put on Zyprexa and Pristiq recently. Can anyone offer me any advice on how to deal with these thoughts? Thank you!
She told me to stop taking the effexor (which scared me, I know there are horrible withdrawl symptoms because I have experienced them when I would miss my meds.) She put me on Pristiq and Klonopin for when I have a panic attack. Yesterday I took the Pristiq and not the Effexor and when I need the Klonopin (I needed it twice) I took it. When I went to bed at night I was ok..I slept until 3am woke up for a little while and went back to sleep.
weaning off slowly under your doctors care is the way to go with benzos...how much ativan r u on each day? and for how long? there is a web site called benzo dot uk dot org...
I started Pristiq about a month and a half ago. Very happy. I had mild panic attacks and depression. Cried often. The first week or so my heart raced a little and I had dry mouth but those side effects have gone away. My life has changed for the better. No longer irritated at work, just go with the flow. Actually felt like getting off the couch to exercise and want to spend more time outside. So far so good.
I started a new job in february. Which i hate. The beginning. Of April i started getting major panic attacks an lose of appetite. I also do not drink fluids like i used to. I went to my doctors an he put me on pristiq. The first day taking it i ended up at the hospital. I had an allergic reaction. So then my doctor started me on 50 mg of zoloft an .25 mg as needed of zoloft. Then a week later he upped my dose to 100 mg of zoloft. That did not work. So i deceived to do paxil (40mg) again.
This was in the hope that maybe I could reduce or get off Wellbutrin (memory problems) if the Pristiq did not cause sexual side effects. I have been on Pristiq for a month and a half now. The transition was seamless. Within two weeks, I was no longer clenching my jaw and stopped using the mouth guard. I am also seeing a lessening of the sexual side effects. I did not have any of the sweating or dry mouth, but that may be because I have been on an SNRI for awhile and my body was used to it.
A few months ago I would have done anything to feel better because my anxiety and panic attacks were ruining my life. My anxiety and depression are so cyclical and event triggered that it may be a good idea to start a medication now before an event triggers a bad cycle for me....
It is so hard to fing good info on Pristiq because it is new to the market...Thanks for your advice and understanding.

Losing control. My dr put me on Christie and ever since then everything seemed okay but then I started to have night sweats ,nightmares ,major migraines and I was also peeing a lot and I felt so weird and not myself.
I'm a 15 year old girl and I've had a migraine for close to six months now. It's a constant pain from my temples to over my eyes. I've tried countless medicines and none are helping. When I was in 4th grade(5 years ago) I had a migraine for a month. Eventually it went away, but we had extensive tests, and everything came back clear. My neck hurts, moving hurts, I'm sensitive to light and sound, I'm nauseous, my migraine is very optical.

I had been on Effexor XR for about 2 1/2 years for anxiety and panic attacks and it actually worked great. The only side effect from that was sleepiness. Sometimes, usually around mid-afternoon, I would just hit a wall and would feel extremely sleepy. Recently I lost my job and my insurance.
