My heartburn got so bad my Dr prescribed me Omeprazole 40mg (Prilosec) daily since my heartburn was a daily occurrence.
i went to ER they did a blood test it came back normal, and prescribed me famotidine. the pills seem to have no effect, but the pain would leave randomly, sometimes came back after eating, sometimes not. I feel bloating sometimes, and sometimes not, yesterday the pain was gone completely and everything appeared to be normal.
If Prilosec is ordered QD, can a nurse give it in the morning for GI upset, if it is normally given at bedtime?

I havent eaten since 330pm today and it is now 12:02am. And I am afraid to eat because of my heart burn being so bad. And I would take my prilosec but I am out and they won't fill it until the doc changes my prescription and lord only knows how long that will take. I already have heart burn and I can't lay down till it goes away or I will throw up...

I take Allegra, Zyrtec, Claritin, Flonase and singular, albuterol nebs and inhaler, also famotidine 2x daily I was on advair for 2months and he said stop because it did nothing for me other than change sputum from slimy to chunky and is quite pricey for no results. I've been taking PRILOSEC OTC (non-prescription) for quite awhile, after years on the original prescription brand Prilosec.
I think it really depends on the person. I've tried Prilosec, Nexium and Aciphex, all for extensive periods of time. My # 1 all-time fave is Nexium, and Aciphex is also very effective. Prilosec doesn't seem to work as well. Just my experience.

I was nervous about taking Nexium and was only going to try some famotidine chewable tablets but your note has convinced me to pass on the tablets and to give Nexium a try in case I am not only suffering from GERD but there is also some damage to my esophagus that needs repairing.

They suggest eating more meals smaller portions throughout the day and you can use tums, Prilosec, maalox, or if you wanna go the drug free route, milk nutrilizes acid and so does a mixture of baking soda and water. Good luck ladies, feel better!!

globus sensation, dyspepsia, left upper backache, sometimes diff breathing. She told me to take Prilosec for two weeks and suspected GERD. I said I have no heartburn and I was told that sometimes there's no heartburn on GERD. So I went back after 2 weeks. My dyspepsia was relieved by prilosec but still have the other symptoms especially the backache and I could feel a tickling sensation a little far down from my left armpit( I think a nerve or muscle connected to LES?).
A week later I was feeling much worse. Every time I took the prilosec I felt worse, and with prilosec came intense diarrhea. The longer I go without a meal the better I feel. Talked with doctor and told to stop Prilosec and was referred to a GI. 3 days ago I got an upper endoscopy and low and behold i don't have acid reflux but my LES was "open wider than normal, but nothing to worry about"...they took a biopsy from my intestine and haven't heard back on that yet.
