I had allergies really bad at the begging of my pregnancy i got allegra d 24 hours and it helped out allot and my baby girl is healthy as can be

I am currently sick with Sunus/Lung Infection & Have acid Relex, woke up last night unable to breathe & acid Burning throat badly & chocking...I start breathing again by getting Hot water going with Faucet/sink & Keep trying to cough & Inhale steam at same time till,I start Breathing again....I do have Astmia too...

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. GERD can be the result of untreated allergies....and may not be the main issue....some see a case of GERD and think treat that and the other issues go away....but you need to know which started first.... Zantac is a histamine blocker so that is good to start with...but you may need an antihistamine to help with the allergies...Prilosec is a proton pump inhibitor and may not be the med for you . I don't understand taking both....

I have been having reflux for the last few months, came on suddenly. Today I have an awful taste in my mouth too, do you get that w/reflux. I Have an appt with a GI doctor in about two weeks. I had my bloodwork done and the doctor said my eisinophil count was high at 8, he asked me about allergies and I said yes, I do have allergies. I've been on Claritin and that has helped. Was taking prilosec, now taking Claritin and Pepcid, but it's gotten worse.

I have allergies to dust, pet dander, mold, and a bunch of other things. Right now I am suffering at night I either have a cold or I am having an allergy attack. I am seeing a pulmonary doc but, I am between apointments and I have no idea what to do about the symptoms I am having. I have a runny nose and sinus pressure. I am nervous because last time I had these symptoms I ended up in the ER with an asthma attack. This time I would like to try and prevent this from happening.

I have constant GERD. I have been treated with Prilosec for 8 years, and the amount has had to be increased several times over the years. I am now taking 40 mg of Prilosec in the morning and 40 mg Prilosec in the evening. This has not been helping me, so I am now also taking Zantac 150 mg h.s. in addition to the 40 mg of Prilosec b.i.d. The head of my bed is on 2 x 4s to keep it elevated, and I sleep on 3 pillows at night.

Omeprazole is an H2 blocker. It is helpful, but not the big guns for acid reflux that could be harmful. Omeprazole is available OTC. Some H2 blockers are also used as supplement antihistamines for people who have a hard time controlling allergies. OH, not acid reflux presents with the typical heart burn symptoms. Some people reflux higher and it does burn the esophagus in that way. Feel better.

t know if GERD is a cause here as the hernia is not hiatal but I do take two prilosec a day at different times and have for a while now because I used to get these strange stomach pains that would come in waves and pain in my chest which the doc called silent reflux.

d suggest getting tested for food allergies and try eating a bland diet that elminates irritating foods like gluten, dairy, greasy food, etc.

i have them, and have had similar symptoms and thoughts of my brain turning against me. i took the Prilosec OTC for about a week before stopping, it offered no relieve. But without an endoscopy most insurances won't even let one pill of Nexium or Aciphex fall into a prescription bottle. Your GI will probably order an endoscopy and if the Priolsec is no longer working, may give you some samples of Nexium to try out while you wait for the results of the scope.

I do have acid reflux and take prilosec 2x a day, I also have to have my esphagus stretched . Maybe this is what it is. But it scares me so much. Not for this in particular but in the past 5 months and as early as a month ago, I have had a chest xray, 3 EKG'S, ECHO W/contrast, and a abdominal ct scan, Would these tests show this area where I get this soreness?

I also had a cat scan and that was normal. I went to an allergist who is having me tested for food allergies and suggested I take h1 as well as h2 antihistamines. He suggested I might have Eosinophilic Esophagitis which is an inflamed esophagus due to an allergic reaction. hey thank you for your time. i take prilosec everyday cant go with out it i have reflux really bad is the a bad thing for my stomack will it cause problems down the road been on it for at least 2-3 years do come off of it now and than take zanta for a week but it not as good.

I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.

Hi, This could be a long list of things including allergies, blood sugars, nerve issues, ulcers etc. I am afraid I cannot narrow it down, so you should speak at length with your doctor when you can. Take care.

Any thoughts would be appreiciated. Other then normal allergies, and some fatigue, no other changes. Could my liver have an effect on my vocal cords, throat,, etc.?

My dog was vomiting mucus several times a day so I took him to the vet who took 2 xrays, blood and determined he had allergies. She gave him antibiotics, prilosec, benedryl and something else for his stomach which he took for a week. I stopped them after a week and he is throwing mucus up again. I have spent $500. so far. What can i do?

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

First Pepcid is a H2 inhibitor while prilosec is a PPI (pronton pump inhibitor) The H2 blockers may work better for him and could be y the Drs RX'd it....I was on prilosec of yrs and know it is slow to show benefits and then stopped working for me....I take the pepcid now and it works better for me.... Prilosec may take up to 2 weeks b4 benefits are seen....has he modified his diet and lifestyle?

Ive been allergy tested, no allergies. Im now being treated for acid reflux and taking 40mg prescription prilosec daily. Not helping. The only symptoms i have are wanting to clear my throat pretty much constantly, my throat feeling raw and like something is stuck in the back and the head pain. Ive seen 2 ents, allergist and 2 physicians. I have not been scoped yet, but i feel i am just baffling everyone. Ive tried allergy meds, steroids, nasal sprays, painkillers.

I did not see where to post this question, I hope someone can give me some suggestions. I have been feelinf ill to my stomach for over two weeks. I don't feel like drinking any water which I know I need to be doing. I got some lemon lime soda the other day to sip on it. I feel like I have lot's of acid in my stomach. I had changed my diet some, I added some " Fiber one" to my diet, and started having 1% milk. The first thing that happend to me was I was belching a lot.

Lately I have had four episodes of a sudden onset of not being able to breathe at all for at least a minute. The airway passage was completely closed. Three of those times I was asleep and woke up.

My doctor wanted to start with a nasal spray to see if this were from allergies. I tried the spray, but it really did not help anything. One month ago, I was visiting family, and had horrible stomach pains. The holidays were taking its toll. Thinking it had something to do with reflux due to stomach pain and burping, I tried Prilosec. Horrible nausea came from that. After speaking with the doctors office, they recommended trying Previcid. Tried it....it seamed to help a little bit.

I have had irritation and tickling in my throat for about 3 weeks now. At first it felt like a hair in my throat. I went to see my doctor and she said it was allergies. She put me on Astepro. I used it for about a week. It started to effect my tongue. My taste buds in the back of my tongue enlarged for some reason, so I stopped. The taste buds seem to be fine now. Now my throat mainly in the afternoon, feel dry and tight. Could this simply be allergies.
