Avatar f tn Doctor also suggested increasing oils and good fats to improve nutrient absorption and add calories. Too early to say if he is putting on weight yet, but he is doing well mentally and emotionally!
Avatar n tn t seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar n tn My doctor diagnosed me almost a year ago with "the worst case of acid reflux [she'd] ever seen." Literally, I would drink a glass of water and get reflux issues. I was put on Nexium for a long time, and I have since switched to Prilosec OTC because I ran out of health insurance. It's been about five days on Prilosec but I keep feeling nauseous in the morning after I take it, but it's nothing too bad and it goes away fairly quickly.
Avatar n tn I have taken Lotrel 5/20 for several years. I have also taken Prilosec OTC each day (directed by gastroenterologist) for 3 years ( +/-) I have had strange feelings in the bottom of my feet for about the same time that I have taken Lotrel. Was told it was from Morton's Neuromas. For the last 2-3 years my lower legs have felt "like tree stumps" and are getting progressively worse. I have fallen 3 times in the last two months because my left foot was not where I thought it was.
Avatar f tn I am concerned about calcium absorption and bone loss and would like to wean from it. Is bone loss a legitimate concern? My last bone density showed osteopenia. This discussion is related to Weaning Off Prilosec.
Avatar f tn I had indigestion a lot before and during tx. It does make senses that a liver disease would mess up the digestive tract since the liver makes lots of enzymes and other things involved with digesting food. Prilosec worked really well for me. BTW, now that I'm done with tx, the indigestion rarely comes back.
Avatar n tn It appears that maybe the lack of nicotine has caused some change in your stomach. Ten years ago, I developed a second ulcer, and I have taken one OTC Prilosec a day for 10 years with no problem. Why not try an experiment and take one Prilosec or Prevacid a day for 4 days to learn whether your heartburn has stopped? The stronger pill, Nexium, has just become available OTC and may deserve your consideration.
Avatar f tn t have a huge affect, but you should drink regular water, instead of the Evian, since both calcium and magnesium affect absorption of thyroid hormones and could result in the need for higher dosages.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking the acid reflux meds for a few months and now am waking up a lot at night (in addition to my sleep apnea), have gunk in my throat and feel stuff coming back up again. I also had to go to ER for left side pain and found that my spleen was "upper normal" but "markedly englarged on physical exam" and that it was a little harder/solid than it should be.
Avatar m tn ve heard sites say the opposite, that floating stools were a sign of poor nutrient absorption and sinking stools were better. So which is really better?
238010 tn?1420406272 Also have acid reflux and i'm cirrhotic, prilosec is what my hepo put me on, been on it for a few years and it works great.
Avatar f tn t get any sun which is how we make Vitamin D, your fluid pill is pushing things out faster than they would normally and your HBP pill might also be interfering with nutrient absorption. I would suggest you see a nutritionist about all this -- when you're on that many meds you need a supplement regimen or dietary regimen that reflects what these drugs do to your ability to absorb what you need.
1654177 tn?1319838494 However, my doctor ays it should be fine to take Prilosec OTC. It is over the counter, and I usually take it every 6 - 9 moths, to keep indigestion from occuring. I took my last 2 week course of Prilosec OTC in March, and I am staring to experience heart burn / GERD again. I have my Pagysys and Ribivirin in hand, and I will do my first injection on 9/16. Has anyone else taken Prilosec OTC during TX, I don't want it to interfere with the TX.
Avatar f tn Does it really work? How long does it take it to work? And are there any noticeable changes at all the first few weeks. Before, I did take one pill when I was given the meds. A few hours after taking the medicine, my husband said something that got me angry, and I litterally went into a rage of banging on the kitchen table. It scared my husband, and I got to admit, I was frightened by it also. I never had this type of anger before.
Avatar f tn Hi! Welcome to the forum, although it is an unfortunate forum to be a part of. I can remember my husband being sick a lot when he had GERD. It makes sense. Since your body is not digesting food optimally, you're probably not getting maximum nutrient absorption. Your body is already under tremendous stress from dealing with the various harsh symptoms, and your immune system is fighting overtime to try and deal with your injured digestive system.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm about to start tx with Interferon, Riba and boceprevir. I just started taking 30 mg of Lansoprazole a day for gerd. Does anyone know if the Prevacid (lansoprozole) prevents absorption of the the drugs. I asked my GI doctor and he said he didn't think there were issues of that sort, but he wasn't sure. appreciate any advice!

Avatar n tn thumb twitching seems to come and go. get eye infection every 4-6 months and gets better with medication. are they any way related?
