Remember there is usually a temporary increase in anxiety when a dosage is increased. The increased anxiety can cause more stomach acid and therefore your symptoms. I confess I take omeprazole for the heartburn. The burping went away with the anxiety. My stomach burned so bad I thought I had an ulcer. You can get prevacid or prilosec over the counter. Either one should help. Good luck and excuse yourself!
I got this under control with prilosec and took it for about 4-5 months. I tried coming off of it and after a few weeks the heartburn was back with a vengeance and I had a new symptom. Ectopic beats happening a lot, especially at night. I've had the odd ectopic beat over the years but I'd have one then they would dissapear for months. Now it was one all the time every night and the only thing that gave relief was burping.
Its one of those "double-acting" things. The reflux makes you uneasy, which makes anxiety worse, and the anxiety can prompt the reflux. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. A life of Tums. Not a pleasant thought. I've had occassional PVC's for 20 plus years. I also have Mitral Valve Prolaps. About 2 months ago I started taking Prilosec for reflux. I then began to have a huge increase in the number of PVC's. Sometimes lasting all day. I've been on an event monitor for the past 2 weeks. I didn't even think that to relate this increase in PVC's to the Prilosec until about a week ago.
ve had 3 docs prescribe prevacid and prilosec and one who said its bad to have any. I miscarried when I wasnt on anything and the babies I've had are all fine despite the prilosec. Some docs are more cautious. My doc now is a high risk ob/gyn with experience in fetal development issues and he says its fine. Talk to your doc or a different one...its not good to be so miserable you can't eat...for you or baby.
I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.
Went on Prilosec for 3 months which helped but I started getting terrible leg cramps at night and read that Prilosec can deplete the magnesium in your body and cause cramps. I also started to get cramps in my hands during the day so I stopped the Prilosec, started taking Magnesium Citrate 3X a day and eating a banana before going to bed. The cramps are mostly gone. Instead of getting them from 2:30 on I now just get one around 7 and just get up and stay up. But, now my nausea is back.
My doctor diagnosed me almost a year ago with "the worst case of acid reflux [she'd] ever seen." Literally, I would drink a glass of water and get reflux issues. I was put on Nexium for a long time, and I have since switched to Prilosec OTC because I ran out of health insurance. It's been about five days on Prilosec but I keep feeling nauseous in the morning after I take it, but it's nothing too bad and it goes away fairly quickly.
I have had physicals and blood tests done, have had my heart checked and x-rayed, etc, but everything came back negative. I have minimal stress and anxiety now, but feel even worse than I did a year ago. I've been doing my own research online but am still not sure what could be causing this. I am a 21 year old male.
No spicy foods, not eating anyting real solid 3 to 4 hours before sleeping except maybe a popcile. Trying to lose weight and exercise and trying to lay off the caffeine and carbonated bevereges(which is extremly hard for me but Im doing it.) I havent been able to nail an actual flare up food, it seems I'm nausous off and on all the time.
i dont cough but i know a few that it does them that way. i have bad heartburn and where i feel full and lots air in chest. but only have thoses when under stress/anxiety like today. so its not helping eating rolads to with it . i ask my dr if its safe to take he said yes so i not worry maybe i should than more hurt/air/heartburn.
There is definitely a strong correlation between GERD (actually diagnosed) and GERD-like symptoms and anxiety. Both exacerbate one another and there are even some theories that GERD can cause severe anxiety, leading to chronic anxiety. There have been countless people who report a dramatic improvement in anxiety once their GERD is controlled.
Paxiled made some great suggestions. I'm a big fan of Prilosec, but like Paxiled said, there can be a rebound effect if it is used too long.
I had small panic atracks before hand that would pop up in stressful situations, but these past two years have been on and off really bad anxiety. I know (and have) the common symptoms for anxiety like racing heart, shortness of breath, tingly arms, and feeling out of reality. However, after I turned 16 (a month ago) I immedietly had a bunch or stress and anxiety about growing up and my new responsibilities along with the normal worry about the future and getting hurt or somthing.
