I've been taking prevacid 30 mg TWICE a day for 10 years. Once a day before that. Doc says should be no problem. I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis in my spine (aver. -3.2) and osteopenia in my hip. I am very active, martial arts instructor. 5'11" and 185 lbs. I was told to cut back the Prevacid to once a day. My blood work shows no obvious problems. Has prevacid been linked to Osteoporosis?

I used to have the same withdrawal effects when I took Nexium. I have tapered myself off of the Prevacid to just a quarter of the pill now (I take the oral tabs) and even going from a half to a quarter pill caused me 4 days of withdrawal symptoms also I get acid rebound - pressure behind the chest and a bit of sore throat. But when I reduce the dose the withdrawal flu-like feeling is terrible. I seem to have the same effects on Nexium, Prilosec and Lansoprazole (Prevacid here in Taiwan).

I have been taking prevacid for a week and now the pain is almost totally out of my chest and shoulder blade BUT now has moved to my middle back and also primarily located under the left side ribs (location of the stomach). It varies anything from a tight "crampy" (light) feeling to mild pain that shoots through to my back.

The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.

Well while I was taking hydro my acid reflux seemed so much better, I was down to 1 prevacid every other day..Well as of wed. it has come back hard and fast. Back on 2 a day. t matter what time of day. Also said that Synthroid does not have to be on an empty stomach. He said there is WAY too much myth about Synthroid and what interrupts its effectiveness. He said the ONLY thing that interferes with Synthroid is calcium and iron. Just curious, are you still taking both of these meds? How are you doing? Did you change how you take them? I also just read tonight that green tea might be bad for Synthroid absorption. That is what I drink every morning. hmmm...

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?

My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less. It's not any worse than it has been for the past month or so, but it is worrying me. Is this normal with a duodenal ulcer?

t been feeling that great and the doc prescribed Prevacid at 30mg twice a day along with 1g of Amoxil and Biaxin. My H. Pylori test came back negative so I could stop the Amoxil and Biaxin. It might take a while but he tells me it will work. On the other hand, a friend of mine had severe reflux and the doc prescribed Protonix. It worked so well that they were able to get off of it and only use it when they feel a flare up coming on (every couple months).

I have gone on and off PPI's (Prilosec and Prevacid a long time ago). When you cut back you get acid rebound. It's better to do it slowly if you can. I think Prevacid comes in 15mg but you need to ask your doctor as I'm not sure if the over the counter version is exactly the same as the prescription. You can also ask your doctor what else you can take to help with the acid rebound. Avoiding acidic foods also helps. Good luck!

1st shot Wednesday night. I guess not too bad. Went to work today felt ok some indigestion and a bit of a head ache. I realize no one has the same exact reaction and this seems "normal" for lack of a better word. I am so glad I found this forum on Day 1. I am also taking Eltrombopag for my platelet count along with the pegasys and ribavirin. I did see that the indigestion is another side effect and taking zantac or prevacid is ok. This just seems like alot of chemicals.

thanks for getting back to me. I have been taking nexxium for almost nine months straight and prevacid now for about 3 weeks. it has helped some with the acid reflux part but not the bloating. i have cut back to 1 pill a day instead of two which I took for nine months straight.

ve seen has told me to take a higher dose, and every time it does nothing), 10mg Singulair once a day, the Prevacid 30mg twice a day, and Pepcid as I need it. The symptoms become worse after meals or exercise. They are worse in the early morning or late night.

I also have bad breath. I take Prevacid once a day for three years. I also take Lexapro. Even with prevacid, i still get heartburn some. I am a smoker and smoke about a pack a day. Can someone ease my mind a little about the stool thing? Or tell me some info?

Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.

I'm in the same boat as you. Every weekend for about 4 months I was noticing the nasty burbs, a sour stomach...then hours after I would throw up and have loose stools or one or the other...was worse when It was both at the same time. It wasn't my gallbladder. So my doctor did tests for H. Ployri...and I tested positive. So I was taking a triple therapy treatment with consists of antibiotics. My doctor also prescribed Prevacid, which seemed to help.

Not being familiar with the properties of Strattera what does it do . .is it a muscle relaxer as it works for his ADD condition? Just curious as i really don't have an answer but trying to figure it out with you .. there are some other great people here who may have ideas and even some products outside of Prevacid are mentioned in the archives worth looking into perhaps. Could it be the combo of the two meds are causing the reflux ?

I'm new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to tell me if abdominal pain, constipation and gas are side effects of PPI's. My neighbor is a doctor and prescribed me prevacid, I took them for 2 weeks, and began to notice these problems. I told him this and his response was "Prevacid does not have those side efffects." but when I search "Prevacid side effects" these symptoms show up on every page. ANy direction woudl be appreciated.

t think it seemed loose, but that my stomach did produce more acid than he would like to see. He has me taking 2 prevacid 30miligrams a day. Once in the morning and once at night. The strange thing about my issue is that over the past two years, it only presents itself as a stomach ache and it really doesn't matter what I eat. In fact, I have it in the morning a lot. When it comes on I will have it for months and all of a sudden it will go away randomly for several months.

I am trying to quit drinking but I am having a hard time with it. I just went to the doctor to get blood tests and make sure that my drinking has not already damaged my body beyond repair. My doctor gave me Prevacid for some stomach issues I have been Having. Does anyone know if it is safe to take it when I have been drinking? I am really trying to stop but I am having problems with the withdrawls so I am trying to wean myself off. Any one have any opinions?

My EKG was normal and my Dr could not detect any abnormal sounds from my heart. He told me to up my dosage of prevacid to 2 a day until the problem goes away. So far (after 1.5 weeks) the symptoms have not improved and it is getting in the way of my exercise routine. I would love any advice before I visit a specialist.

Hello. I have taken GERD medication for about 20 years. I was on Prevacid for many years. My GERD is severe, and nothing else worked as well. Protonix and Nexium did NOTHING for me, nor did Aciphex. Prevacid works OK, and my doc suggested Kapidex and I took it for a month. I did about as well on it as the Prevacid if not a tad better. I think Prevacid and/or Kapidex blow away Nexium; although what may be right for me will not be guaranteed for you.
