That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!
I was taking a prescription (omeprazole) to control my severe reflux(GERD) before I found out I was pregnant. My primary doctor suggested I stop taking it until my first appt with OB( 1/27) to see what she suggests. My reflux is severe and I don't want to keep taking Pepcid and tums like crazy. Has anyone else had this before pregnancy and what were you given to take that was safe?
I'm about 17 weeks in and iI must say that this indigestion, acid reflux, and constipation is becoming unbearable! I've tried what I can to relieve these symptoms as best as possible, but man oh man is it annoying. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to alleviate severe acid reflux? I cannot consume a single thing without feeling it for hours. Chamomile helped for a minute and so did milk and the occasional apple, but none of those remedies seem to make a difference anymore.

I used ibuprofen pretty often each day for about two weeks for severe pain in my hand and finger joints. I began to have chronic nausea, got off the ibuprofen, started taking Prevacid and Pepcid Complete, then Reglan per doctor's prescription. Bad side effects from Reglan--irritability, dizziness, depression,sleepiness. Got off of it. After about 4 weeks, I still have some nausea and only want to eat starches and sugars. Had gallbladder removed 6 months ago.
If you could stand to lose a few pounds, lose them. Do not self-medicate with Prevacid and Zantac or Pepcid for more than 2 weeks. You need to be examined with a scope, to look down your throat, even if your saliva build-up stops. ENT and some Gastroenterology doctors do this simple examination in their offices.
Thick saliva could be related to conditions in your chest as well, although you did not mention a cough or chest discomfort.
You asked if this could be related to allergy.
We have also tried Protonix and Prevacid without any relief. I'm almost wondering about it possibly being bile reflux. Only guessing, but she did feel relief until about 2 weeks post op. Thank you for your suggestion though.

I even get it sitting up!! This is my 2nd pregnancy and the heartburn has been exactly the same. Tiums cover the burning for about an hour then come back. And, my god it is PAINFUL :( Does anyone else have it this bad??
You can take otc zantac, tums, maalox, mylanta and pepcid. If it's really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
Previcox and Prednisone should not be given together. This combination increases the danger of gastrointestinal ulceration and other problems which can be dangerous.
Benadryl should be safe, but it can rarely cause breathing problems. Prednisone can also cause increased panting.
Previcox can be safely used with Tramadol (another analgesic), if the Previcox is insufficient alone.
Put your dog on 5mg. of Pepcid twice daily to try and prevent GI issues. Pepcid is available over the counter.
You can try an over-the-counter medication such as Pepcid or Axid. If there's no improvement after 2 weeks, you can then try Prilosec OTC or Prevacid. If after 2 weeks there's no relief, please see your physician.
