Avatar n tn My daughter is 5 and a halfyears old and her doctor has been treating her for the past year with prevacid solutab 15mg daily, which at first relieved her symptoms after a couple of weeks until recently. She is a very active child, she enjoys tumbling and running and cheerleading. Lately she complains that her stomach hurts, she can't breathe and when she states that she tries to take a deep breath and she says "I can't Breathe".
Avatar n tn Is it safe to take 60mg of prevacid in the morning and 20 mg of prilosec in the evening?
Avatar n tn Hello, My son is 10 yrs old and 3 weeks ago started vomiting ONLY in the mornings. He is vomiting up yellowish/green sputum only - never any food. He has also suffered from diarreah as well. Chest and abdomen xrays have been done, stool and blood collected - everything so far has come back normal. We are in awe of the fact that we've now seen 5 different pediatric docs and gastroenterologists and none of them have been able to diagnose him!
Avatar f tn My granddaughters had reflux pretty bad. Their Pediatric GI did prescribe Prevacid, but what really helped was the formula Nutramagin and they slept on a Tucker Wedge Sling my son-in-law found on line.
Avatar m tn I have been on Prevacid, 30 mg, twice daily, for about a month. It finally seemed to kick in after 4 weeks and I had 5 glorious days of no acid, or very little. I then reduced my dosage to one 30mg capsule daily. Within two days the GERD came back full force! Is it better to go back to two pills? Is it common that it would come back so strong? I'd rather take the two capsules again than have this! Ugh!
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
Avatar n tn 4) and TSH=0.783 (0.3-4.0), accordingly the pediatric endocrinologist of the hospital suggested reduction in terms of giving the dosage 5/7 days a week. Once more we desided to get another opinion. The new pediatric endocrinologist believed there is a high possibility of transient hypothyroidism (not that it matters) and suggested the continuation of dosage at 7/7 days with 25T4 tablets. The last blood test (same molecular lab) after a 2 week period showed the following values fT4= 1.99 (0.6-2.

Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar n tn A child who takes 5 ml of the 250mg/5ml dose, for example, is receiving 250 mg of amoxicillin. The recommended pediatric dosage varies from 25 mg/kg per day to 45 mg/kg per day, depending on the underlying infection, according to Rx List. The suspension should be shaken well and measured with a marked measuring spoon to ensure that the right dose is given. Regular silverware should not be used to measure medication doses, warns Drugs.com.
547002 tn?1219797376 I quit prevacid on many occasions cold turkey. It caused massive lower stomach cramps and thick painful diarrhea. I recommend you get off it immediately, however, slowly ween yourself off. DO NOT quit cold turkey. Get on Zantac. PPI's truly messed me up. Made me 1000 times sicker than my GERD. Now I've been off them for 6 months and live a normal healthy life. Those are poison. Doctors will do anything they can to get your money, don't belive the ppi hype.
Avatar n tn I have recently been diagnosed with a small hiatial hernia. I take prevacid twice a day. Could this be reducing the acid too much or destroying good bacteria? Also I eat extremely bland every meal, try to avoid gaseous food and all dairy products. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this severe bloating? Oh and I seem to have mild pain or discomfort in the upper mid-section of abdomen often.
Avatar f tn I just rembered last week I started to take Prevacid because I was getting heartburn. I had stopped takin it because it was affecting my iron level. Can Prevacid affect the lithium and synthroid?
Avatar m tn My EKG was normal and my Dr could not detect any abnormal sounds from my heart. He told me to up my dosage of prevacid to 2 a day until the problem goes away. So far (after 1.5 weeks) the symptoms have not improved and it is getting in the way of my exercise routine. I would love any advice before I visit a specialist.

Avatar n tn said my daughter had not outgrown reflux and needed to be on prevacid and see a ped. Gastroenterologist. He did a scope on her esaphagus and showed no permanent damage but did find a hiatal hernia. We changed her diet and the doctor put her on 15 mg prevacid. It was a miracle - she stopped complaining of: stomach aches, never able to clear throat, vomiting in night, always felt like something in chest, etc...
168348 tn?1379357075 It actually has the same active ingredient as Prilosec, but without the dairy and has sodium bicarb as a buffer. It is approved for Pediatric use, but I can't find the exact ages.
Avatar n tn Meanwhile, her ribs ache, she has no appetite due to stomach pain (taking prevacid for possible acid reflux), and irritation in her throat b/c of the barking, dry cough. The doctors recommended a psychological evaluation, which my daughter is totally against -- she can feel that the cough caused by something physical. Is it possible that the onset of puberty has anything to do with this -- physically or emotionally?
Avatar n tn t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.
Avatar f tn The doctor put him on prevacid and thought that acid reflex could have inflammed the entire GI tract leading to bowels to stop, creating an infection occurring in high fever. However, the symptoms have started to occur once again but with less frequency slowly happening more often. We are going to see GI specialist in 2 days but just wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms or ideas of what to check for. Thank You!

Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
1026267 tn?1257591273 Just happened to read your posts and the responses. I wondered if you have tried increasing your dose of Prevacid? Don't know what dosage you are taking, but I have had to take 20 mg of Prilosec for years. A year ago I went through some thyroid meds changes and went from very mild hypo to very hypo. All of a sudden acid reflux was very bad again. My doctor said it was fine to double my dosage of Prilosec and the problem was eliminated.
Avatar m tn Those are safe for him at 1/2 human adult dose. Simethicone (the active ingredient in gas-x) also comes in a pediatric form. If you get the pediatric form dose to effect. Hiccups are due to spasms of the diaphragm, however and getting rid of gas may not be effective, but it is worth a try.
Avatar n tn He was then switched to 3/4 tablet 15mg prevacid solutab at 3 months old. He stayed at this dosage until about 6 months then he went to the full 15 tablet once a day. At 8 months we had upper GI study done with Pediatric GI who confirmed severe reflux, he was then switched to 15 mg capsule 2x a day and 2 ml Zantac before bedtime.
