My daughter is 5 and a halfyears old and her doctor has been treating her for the past year with prevacid solutab 15mg daily, which at first relieved her symptoms after a couple of weeks until recently. She is a very active child, she enjoys tumbling and running and cheerleading. Lately she complains that her stomach hurts, she can't breathe and when she states that she tries to take a deep breath and she says "I can't Breathe".

My son is 10 yrs old and 3 weeks ago started vomiting ONLY in the mornings. He is vomiting up yellowish/green sputum only - never any food. He has also suffered from diarreah as well. Chest and abdomen xrays have been done, stool and blood collected - everything so far has come back normal. We are in awe of the fact that we've now seen 5 different pediatric docs and gastroenterologists and none of them have been able to diagnose him!
I have been on Prevacid, 30 mg, twice daily, for about a month. It finally seemed to kick in after 4 weeks and I had 5 glorious days of no acid, or very little. I then reduced my dosage to one 30mg capsule daily. Within two days the GERD came back full force! Is it better to go back to two pills? Is it common that it would come back so strong? I'd rather take the two capsules again than have this! Ugh!
Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) Meanwhile, her ribs ache, she has no appetite due to stomach pain (taking prevacid for possible acid reflux), and irritation in her throat b/c of the barking, dry cough. The doctors recommended a psychological evaluation, which my daughter is totally against -- she can feel that the cough caused by something physical. Is it possible that the onset of puberty has anything to do with this -- physically or emotionally?
t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.
The doctor put him on prevacid and thought that acid reflex could have inflammed the entire GI tract leading to bowels to stop, creating an infection occurring in high fever. However, the symptoms have started to occur once again but with less frequency slowly happening more often. We are going to see GI specialist in 2 days but just wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms or ideas of what to check for.

Those are safe for him at 1/2 human adult dose. Simethicone (the active ingredient in gas-x) also comes in a pediatric form. If you get the pediatric form dose to effect. Hiccups are due to spasms of the diaphragm, however and getting rid of gas may not be effective, but it is worth a try.
He was then switched to 3/4 tablet 15mg prevacid solutab at 3 months old. He stayed at this dosage until about 6 months then he went to the full 15 tablet once a day. At 8 months we had upper GI study done with Pediatric GI who confirmed severe reflux, he was then switched to 15 mg capsule 2x a day and 2 ml Zantac before bedtime.
