Prevacid and joint pain

Common Questions and Answers about Prevacid and joint pain

prevacid

Avatar f tn I never had heartburn before starting nexium except when pregnant. My diarrhea, joint pain, and muscle weakness is back and I’m back wearing an orthopedic boot on my left foot today. I’m very frustrated at this point.
Avatar n tn I couldnt eat anything and had joint pain. But was unable to take anything so just suffered. I started eating healthy and it took about 1 year for me to get this under control. The nexium and prevacid did nothing for me, about 2 weeks ago my symptoms came back and I understand what your going thru. I am on a bland diet just to start.
Avatar f tn especially if i eat something like coffee or tea. and i try to drink prevacid to help the pain and it work out after 30 minutes. i would like to know what the best thing to do and what are the food i should be concious of eating..
Avatar n tn i take prevacid for my gerd, can this cause atrial fibrillation This discussion is related to acid reflux.
Avatar n tn My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
Avatar n tn Saw GI MD 3 days ago who put me on prevacid 30mg 2x a day and pepcid 40mg at bed time for 6 weeks. Does this sound reasonable? I get concerned re the medications and side effects. Would there be any by taking both? I am also on aspirin, lipitor and synthroid.
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with abdomen pain (which at times can be quite severe), lower back pain, right hip pain (in the groin/joint area), fatigue, weight gain, constipation, and pain when having a bowel movement. I was referred to a GI specialist who ordered a CT of the abdomen and pelvis. The only thing that came back was a "4.9 cm well defined, thin walled cystic lesion at midline in posterior culdesac?...possible GI duplication cyst?....unclear....endemetrioma is not excluded....
424634 tn?1277857528 The GERD pain tends to show up in the outer ears, at the same time I start getting upper-throat acidic pain. The TMD pain is in the inner ear, head, jaw, face, neck, and can radiate as low as the chest at times. You may wan to try something like Zantac (an H2 blocker) or Prilosec OTC (a Proton Pump Inhibitor) to see whether that helps symptoms. Of course, consult with your doc about this. FYI, my first symptoms of GERD were about the same as yours.
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better. My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
Avatar m tn I'm pretty scared.... I don't know what to think. 44 about to be 45 year old white male I had heart disease at an early age but other than that, no health problems. About a year now I have had very bad acid reflux and at times due to the damage it was causing, I had lots of trouble swallowing. Before I started taking prevacid ...I wasn't able to swallow ANY kind of food that had any kind of heat to it..and by heat I mean spicy, I don't mean temperature wise.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering with abdominal pain for about a year and a half now, i had an endoscopy in January 2009 and was diagnosed with mild Gastritis and Reflux, i was given Nexium to take which i took for 4 months and felt better. After a couple of months it came back again but felt worse so i was told by the doctor to go back on Nexium again which i had taken for 3 months and the pain and burning had not gone away.
Avatar m tn I am concerned because the pain is persistent (everyday), not helped by any OTC pain meds, or the Dologic, and the pain seems to be spreading. What could this be? Could I just be falling apart from 43 years of life? I am 43, overweight (a good bit) and my BP normally runs around (135-140) over (80-93). I am on diovan for high BP. I also take prevacid and paxil.
Avatar n tn Ten years ago my gall bladder (and a large stone) was removed. Since then, however, at least twice a year I have an excruciating attack of the same symptoms that had manifested prior to the operation. (The first began just 6 weeks after the operation, and I'd hardly eaten a thing.) I made radical changes to my diet, avoiding fatty and junk foods, and when I stick to that I have no problem.
Avatar n tn Hi Head ache is one of the commonly reported side effect of PPIs. Rashes can also occur. Regarding the relief from symptoms, you need certain life style modifications in addition to taking PPI for complete relief. . Life style modifications - 1. Head elevation while sleeping 2. Small frequent meals 3. Going to bed 2- 3 hours after food 4. Avoiding bed time snacks 5. Avoiding smoking and alcohol 6. Avoiding tight fitting clothes 7.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Did you just start taking prevacid? Have you eaten anything red recently? Are you constipated? Do you have hemmorhoids?
Avatar m tn I started taking prevacid a few weeks ago for an esophogial ulcer (non-malignant), I had stomach aches for on about day four or five that went away. My heart burn and pain in my sides is gone. My stools went from normal to yellow and remain that way. I contacted my local GI who is not my hep c specialist. He acted like I was worrying too much and said this is normal because my food is going through me quicker then pre-previc acid.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem, except I have celiac disease (in remission). I also have fever, body aches and joint pain. Had this for 6 months. Could be lupus. Good luck, and be well.
Avatar f tn Yes, a hiatal hernia can mimic a heart attack and give you chest pain. That is why your stress test, echo and EKG are fine...and also, why you have been prescribed Prevacid, which is a drug that reduces stomach acid.
Avatar m tn I am having very loose bowel movements, blood on the toliet paper when I wipe, indigestion, lower abdominal pain. Most importantly is I am having more frequent heartburn and chest pain, which I don't have when I am on the H2 blocker. After taking prevacid for a month I went back and check with my doctor telling him my symptoms, he doesn't seem to care and tell me to contiune to take prevacid for 1 more month. Could prevacid be causing all these symptoms ?

296025 tn?1233256719 Prevacid is a Protein Pump Inhibitor (PPI) like Aciphex, Nexium and Prilosec. It's indicated for GERD (chronic acid reflux) and as far as I know has nothing to do with treating Hep C, other than if you happen to have GERD. I believe Prilosec is a generic sold OTC but not 100% sure so speak to your doctor and pharmacist regarding switching off.
547002 tn?1219797376 In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.
Avatar f tn My 8 year old son has been suffering from severe abdominal pain, headaches, eye pressure, and even back pain just about every night. He just went through a endoscopy, colonoscopy, xray, and sonogram. For the most part, the endoscopy and the colonoscopy went very well and the GI Dr. had no real concerns only that due to my son suffering from GERDs, she saw in the xray that the bile is backing up into the stomach.
